I woke up in a hotel room in Cuneo with the decision weighed heavily on my mind: should I risk the mountain climb with my Brompton? The mountain weather was known for its volatility, there was no official route, and time was not on my side to conquer the peak in a single day.

Pushing these thoughts aside, I made my way to the hotel breakfast, which, to my surprise, was exceptionally fancy. An array of cheeses, and high-quality pastries made morning more delightful.

After checking out, I walked through Cuneo’s local marketplace, searching for a screwdriver. I had recently purchased a Garmin and was eager to mount it on my Brompton. The marketplace was busy with locals and their wares.

Later, I visited the local tourist office to gather information on crossing the mountain crossing between Italian andd French border. Was there a safe path for bikes to traverse the Alps?

The tourist advisor was helpful, and after our conversation, I felt optimistic. Despite learning about recent floods and destroyed trails, the tunnel for cars was closed, promising a peaceful journey ahead.
