1967 German Railways, Trams & Street Scenes. Original 8mm Kodachrome
Previously unpublished original 8mm Kodachrome film.
Steam, Diesel. Trams & Street Scenes at various locations in 2 films –
Bergen, Berlin – Putbus, Straupitz, Cotibus, Stralsund, Dresden, Berlin-Lichenberg, Ostkreuz, Betriebswerk Grünau,
Thank you very much for this wonderful contemporary document and for showing it to the public. Seeing it felt like a dream to me, back to the time when I was 8 years old. I already knew Stralsund, Berlin – Lichtenberg, Berlin-Grünau at that time and everything that travelled around there because I paid attention to these things as a child. Because I had a mum who took me to the living room window on New Year's Eve, opened it at midnight and we heard all the steam locomotives from Köpenick to Wuhlheide and Rummelsburg greet the New Year with a loooong whistle. Thanks for the time, thanks for the film!
15:35 Tram ride at Cottbusser Altmarkt towards the west
15:52 Tram coming from the Spremberger Str. to the Altmarkt (the line from the Sprem was closed in the 70s, today pedestrian zone)
15:58 Karl-Liebknecht-Str., drive towards Bahnhofsstr. (tram line also no longer exists today)
16:15 Karl-Liebknecht-Str., corner Roßstr. (the small Roßstraße to the right no longer exists, today parking garage entrance from the Blechencarree shopping center)
16:17 Karl-Liebknecht-Str., (on the right is the big consumer department store under construction (Konsument), opening in 1968)
16:19 Schillerstr. corner Wilhelm-Külz-Str. (the truck with the railway wagon turns to the Spreewald station)
16:33 Spreewald railway station in Cottbus with Spreewaldbahn (gauge 1000mm)
Real amazing footages of steam locomotives in the former GDR. I think , the camera man had much luck for not been arrested. At that time it was forbidden to film Railways…😮
a beautiful video, could I post it on my channel, of course with the name of your channel. My channel also mainly consists of digitized old films from the former GDR

Hello,
a beautiful video, could I post it on my channel, of course with the name of your channel. My channel also mainly consists of digitized old films from the former GDR
Quite a contrast to modern Germany and the DB.
Lovely to see the Spreewaldbahn.
Thx for Sharing, i am from Spreewald and I have never seen videos of the narrow-gauge railway called the Spreewaldbahn, only photos❤
This video is on the RCTS of GB official tour of the GDR in July 1967. The first organised visit by UK railway enthuasists to the GDR
Vielen Dank für das Teilen dieser alten Bilder.
Liebe Grüße aus Berlin 😉
