Johan should just shut up for a minute, ffs!!
The great Johan Bruyneel gets to muse about Eddy Merkx. The prop next to him tries to interrupt him from time to time but fortunately Johan shuts him down quickly
I’m glad to have seen the champion live during several stages of his last Tour de France in 1977.
That’s when i decided to do bike racing !
He had a huge impact on our generation
dit was nou wragtig pragtig
Eddy has truly left his footprints in the sand, his achievements will not be repeated in the modern world of bike racing,.
Eddie suggests, "You'll be better prepared for the Tour de France after doing the Giro because of the mountain stage and the weight lost." Meanwhile, Johan believes you should skip the Giro to better prepare for the Tour and only focus on that. Whose advice do we follow? The Cannibal or the great sports director? Chime in, people!
I wanted to hear an Eddy interview, and I found Johan talking non-stop about Eddy…
An interviewer must let his guest do the talking..
I stopped at 15 min.. Couldn't even finished..
A legend of cycling and sport in general, an amazing athlete, always great to listen to him and also nice to have Eddy Merckx too!
thanks a lot for this
Mooi! Heel goed dat jullie Eddy op deze manier eren!
Eddy watching Johan go on and on and on and on and on was priceless …. 😂
The Move is unstoppable now!
Bruyneel is mistaken that the only winners of the Tour de France which also won Tour of Flanders during their career were Pogacar and Merckx. There's a third cyclist who achieved that feat: Louison Bobet.
Eddy speaks 10% of the time
The only sick person who is not a friend of his rivals is clearly Armstrong … Fuente was his only rival in the giro, Eddy came to his funeral and had great admiration for him.
Eddy used to love to play cards…. Read it in a few books. At the 1991 Tour de France, I rode all the stages ahead of the Race. I met Eddy there & I had a deck of cards, it got his attention, and I said pick a card you identify with & sign it… Guess what-
Ace of Clubs
Probably a homage to Colnago.
Hinault signed the Ace of Spades….
Polidor – all the 2s
Anderson Jokers
Thank you Johann and the entire Wedu team. I loved hearing Eddy talk about his rival Felice Gimondi. What a class act. Definitely a bygone era.
I would be curious to hear what Eddy thought of Lance. Eddy was the GOAT, but Lance sure got a lot of people into cycling in the US.
je pense que le peugeot px10 des champions etait un de rosa? cadre en mesure???
Bruyneel is famous for falling off a mountain, sucking Indurain's wheel and and managing LA's doped-to-gills performance. He's now added another item to his personal palmares: a massive ego.
I met Eddy at the World Cycling Centre back in 2004 when I was a Stagiaire there. He was super friendly and stopped to exchange a few words and shook my hand. Wished I had a smart phone back then to take a wefie. In 2001/2002 I was training and living in San Diego and had a chance to ride a few times with Axel as we had mutual friends. Super down to earth like his dad. Met Lance when I was a Jr racing the Lance Armstrong Jr race series back in 1998. He was nice enough to take a photo with us. Met Cipollini back in 2012 at Interbike after party. He hit on my now ex wife. And I was in awe. lol
Love the story about Joop Zoetemelk, who, as a team manager, failed to understand that his riders got dropped on climbs of only the 2nd category.
JB looks "bloated" ? How long has he been like that ?
Eddie starts to talk at the 38:30 mark…
Johan loves people who used dope
well, just another cheating dope-man.
偉大なるメルクスさん.お元気でなにより.
Johan spoke 75% of the time, Eddy 25%. That was terrible Johan!! Dont share YOUR stories and opinions, we wanted to hear a lot more of his!! Please do part 2, like this
Johan, work on being a good listener. Short quick question with a point. Work on less story telling to get to the questions. I look forward to more Legends interviews.
do another one, longer and more about eddy
