This album of old vintage photos was taken in 1940 in Leicester and the surrounding Leicestershire and Rutland countryside during the first year of World War 2. It shows members of the local cycling club (Leicestershire Road Club) and the day trips they took exploring the area as well of shots from the city centre, particularly during the snow and cold weather in January and February.

2:12 I think I've hiked past that sign! It hasn't changed much.
Reference all the snow in winter of first year of war, I rather like the commentary on Thames Television's World at War documentary series – "the government tried to hush it up but people couldn't help noticing."
