I went to Britain’s NEWEST Railway Station… Headbolt Lane! (05/10/23). The brand new station in Merseyside opened on 05/10/23, so I took a train on the day to visit Headbolt Lane!

The poster on the platform claimed that the Mayor had built a “integrated London style transport system”. Nowhere, but nowhere, in London are there railway lines meeting head on where you have to change from one train to another. You build routes to run through, not spend £80 million on a station where passengers are forced to change trains. 😅. Great video, though. Geoff will get there eventually!!

I visited the station on opening day. I like it a lot, but I really hope they eventually give it a better name than the one it’s got now. I think Northwood just sounds better, personally.

Was up that way last week for work; took a trip to Rainford for one of my customers. Been to Wigan a few times too, but never to check the place out though. So much of my travel is for work these days.
Oh my days, rain got in your holes lol. Love your hat! Have you ever been to Canada? Couldn't tell from your vlog, but is Headbolt Lane just back-to-back end of line, or did you notice a passing line that allowed trains to go through Headbolt Lane? Lovely station. I wonder why the planners didn't design an island platform so passengers had cross platform interchange with Northern & Mersey Rail? It would also would have future proofed the station to enable through services at some point. Great vlog, fun and entertaining, love how you always manage to find flowing water. It seems an oddity to stick a barrier in the network that stops any unusual/feight movement through there.
Interesting indeed. I intend to visit Headbutt lane now that my ship is in Birkenhead. Coincidently I was in Leith when you did the Edinburgh trams. Also excellent.
