Spurn National Nature Reserve, aka simply Spurn Point, is one of the best outdoor things to do in East Yorkshire, suitable for all the family. Top attractions include the Spurn lighthouse, military fortifications, RNLI history, wildlife and the Discovery Centre which has toilet facilities, a cafe, gift shop and does bicycle hire.

If you’re planning on visiting Spurn Point it’s important to check the high tide times in advance, as a few times a year the wash over turns the peninsula into a tidal island. (the video includes a typical calendar showing the number of wash over events in a year).

Walking distance from the entrance gate to the end of Spurn and back is 7 miles.

The Spurn Safari Unimog provides an alternative to hiking the route. These tours that begin near the entrance gate, taking passengers all the way to the Point.
