Just a followup to my [earlier post](https://www.reddit.com/r/TrekBikes/comments/1camhpe/nbd/).
Last night, I assembled the used FX 3 I bought off the Red Barn Refresh site. This frame is an XXL. The FX 2 I have is an XL that I bought on a whim during covid which has been great but felt a smidge too small.
I took the FX 3 for a 10 mile spin this morning. I haven’t been exercising much the last few weeks due to an ankle sprain and IT band issue, which I’m hoping will start to fade away with the new bike. At any rate, I told myself I was just going to do a leisurely ride and not push things but <Maury Povich>that was a lie</Maury Povich>.
Initial thoughts are whoa! Mounting the XXL frame is a little off-putting at first. I was a little wobbly for the first 5 minutes then things smoothed out. The FX 3 feels a few pounds lighter and more solid. I’m 6’6″ and 230 lbs so I appreciate the sturdiness when I’m hitting bumps in downhill areas.
Strava showed 8 achievements on my regular route and several PRs on hills and inclines where I’m normally huffing and puffing on the FX 2 but I felt strong on the FX 3. And I passed someone on an e-bike which is always a treat.
