I am having trouble getting any interest in my bicycle on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. I can’t figure out if these are simply not good places to sell a bicycle, or if I am posting at the wrong price, or if there is something wrong with my bike.

    Can anyone offer me some guidance in the best way to price and sell a bike?

    Here is the information that I posted:

    I have listed it for $300 or best offer.

    I bought it for my wife and paid $550 for it in 2021. She has only ridden it about a dozen times, due to health problems and can no longer ride it. I have ridden it myself and it’s good for men or women.

    Here are the full details:
    ===========================
    Schwinn “Discover 2 Step-Thru”

    hybrid/cruiser with front shocks and spring shock seatpost. 21 speeds.

    Brooks leather spring saddle. Black Bontrager seat is also included.

    Unique ThinStem foldable handle bars allow bike to be stored in a narrow space, up against a wall, and allows easy movement through doorways — perfect for apartments or dorm rooms. Back rack and drink holder.

    Frame is 15”, medium. Schwinn website lists this as good for people from 5’5” to 5’9”. Perfect for teens or medium adults.

    Is it overpriced? Undesirable? Is there a better place to try and sell it?

    Thanks for any advice.

    1. Seems a very fair price to me. I don’t know where you are located, but where I am, bike season hasn’t quite begun. The stores have built up their showrooms of bikes and are awaiting the hordes. That said, many are projecting a downturn in the bike business. One indicator: Kona Bicycles is being dumped by its parent company.

      So you may need to be patient. Also, the kind of person in the market for a townie bike might not fully appreciate that pretty Brooks. If you still have the original saddle, you could list it separately for $100 and the bike for $200.
