▶ MARINE QUARTER
The Marine Quarter (also known as Marine Settlement) is a residential area located in Kiel, situated between Eduard-Adler-Straße to the north, Westring and Niebuhrstraße to the west, Hardenbergstraße to the south, and Projensdorfer and Holtenauer Straße to the east, spanning the districts of Wik and Ravensberg. It consists of houses, most of which were built between 1926 and 1933.
Between 1925 and 1930, residential houses were constructed in Schill-, Fichte-, Kleist-, Hardenberg- and Niebuhrstraße. The construction was overseen by Walter Kelm (1883–1954), son of the marine architect Adalbert Kelm (known for the Naval Academy Mürwik). However, the housing stock in Niebuhrstraße / Kleiststraße is sometimes incorrectly attributed to the father, Adalbert Kelm. Originally, the residents of the quarter were exclusively naval personnel and their families. The houses and apartment fittings varied and were allocated according to the respective rank. A notable feature for that time period is the spacious inner courtyards, loggias, archways, and openness of the overall design. Half of the quarter is under monument protection. The facades were adorned with decorative elements from the Kiel Art Ceramic Group, among others by Alwin Blaue. A prominent feature is the so-called Wind God by Fritz Theilmann, which sits above the archway in Fichtestraße. Interestingly, Theilmann also contributed to the contemporaneously built Marine Quarter in Flensburg-Mürwik, which, like the Kiel Marine Quarter, was constructed from red brick and shares some architectural similarities.
Today, a portion of the houses in the quarter are still owned by the state and managed by the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks. The other part is rented out by a civilian housing corporation.

You have "magic free piles" in Germany too, at 7:00!😆 Also, I like how you do all of your videos first thing in the morning. Whenever I do a wandering video here in my hometown, I like to do it early, way before all the other humans are out and about! I don't like other humans in my videos. They seem to be weirded out by the camera. The only other living things I allow in my videos are cats, deer, and Canada geese!😆
Very beautiful walk around Kiel, thank you for sharing!!! ☺👍
