This is a great weekend backpacking option through the Schwarzwald (Black Forest). The first day takes you from Karlsruhe to Freudenstadt via a portion of the famous Schwarzwald Panorama Radweg. The second day takes you through the Tour de Murg route, through the lovely Murgtal valley in the Nordschwarzwald. While the first day requires a good amount of climbing on gravel, the second day is a more relaxed road ride with some gravel sections at a much more manageable grade. Overall, the landscape and the atmosphere is completely stunning. This is one of the prettiest parts of Southern Germany, and is one of the best spots on the planet for gravel cycling. The amount of gravel routes running through the Black Forest is simply staggering, and there’s no shortage of options to enjoy the scenery for every skill level!
