During the Tour of the Alps’ fourth stage, Chris Harper experienced a harrowing crash while descending at high speed. The Australian cyclist, riding for Jayco-AlUla, appeared to lose control on a section of uneven pavement while attacking, ultimately colliding with a cement curb and then a light post. The impact, primarily absorbed by his helmet, resulted in Harper falling hard on his right side.
Fortunately, despite the severity of the crash, Harper was observed moving and was promptly attended to by race medical staff. However, due to the extent of his injuries, he was forced to abandon the race. The team provided updates on social media, reassuring fans that Harper was conscious and communicating with medical personnel.
