Bad Wildbad 2024 lived up to its name.
It was BAD. It was WILD…and did I already say it was BAD?
Bad in a perfect sense! The trails challenged me a lot! Having only less than 2 years of mountain biking experience in total, and living in a flat city not exposed to steep, rocky, rooty, and technical sections, those trails made me nervous and excited and gave me the adrenaline I’ve never felt before. Some of them were beyond my comfort zone (Stage 2 thank goodness it was short). But when competing, you forget about your comfort zone and push yourself over the limit.
I really had so much fun getting back between the tapes again -this time with more friends, teammates, and better race times. I was just 2.57 seconds to have made it to my first podium. Maybe I am aiming too high for a newbie, but that’s the reason why we’re racing, isn’t it (to compete)? It’s a shame but compared to my performance last year, this is an improvement I would accept. I hope I can keep this momentum and stay healthy and injury-free.
