I was browsing fb marketplace today and seen this bike for really cheap. Little did I know the pics deceived me. All the black on the bike is faded and every single bolt and cable is rusted. Thankfully the chain and gears isn’t rusted but they have lots of grits, dirt and sand in them. I tried my best to clean it but you can hear the dirt and sand rubbing when I go through the chain and gears.
I’m not a biker but can someone advice me on what I need to do and buy to get the bike back in nice shape? Is there anyway I can bring the back black to new? What size stem do I need and do the Amazon ones work well enough?
Thanks in advanced.

  1. Ahh the 4300 was the best hard tail i ever had and miss it. my advice is to go get on a maintenance course or apply to the university of youtube. Replacing cables, bearings and maybe even upgrades to alloy part to replace the rusty ones could cost heaps so only do the essential first, cosmetic later. Painting is straight forwards but re-anodising is not. You also might find you need to lengthen or shorten the stem so why bother if it’s to be replaced. Start with a few vids from GMBN on cleaning
