    1. NL: people ignore bike signals because they're unnecessary.

US: cycling against red sounds like an effective way to get oneself killed.

    2. A little bit of a solution is glooming on the horizon. A bridge across the Merwedekanaal from the Kanaalweg to the Heycopplantsoen and a tunnel beneath the railway to the Nicolaas Beetsstraat are parts of a missing bypass connection from the southwestern side of Utrecht to the northeastern side of the city. However, this is just planned for years to come, 2025 is the earliest year for it to happen.

It will shorten the route to the Maliebaan by about a kilometer and take away much of the bicycle traffic at the Ledig Erf crossing.

    3. Thank you for your excellent video, in my country Scotland I find that often lights are only set or thought about for cars, so the time it can take to travel a quite long distance between the lights for a bike , sometimes a car is moving of into the path of the bike trying to get through, o for the Dutch system trust me its a lot gooderer l😆l.

    4. Cyclists in the Netherlands behave the way motor traffic does in India…except you guys have very few, if any, accidents while India has tons of them.

    5. Even if you provide Cyclist with Golden Standard Bicycle infrastructure, Sometimes people will still choose the Unlawful way to speed things up which Benefits everyone but since we're living in Earth, The police has to come and ruin everyone's day. I don't know about you, But if you're police officer and you give tickets to those who broke the law for everyone's good, then you're dumb.

    6. Is it international rules when it comes cycling, you are considered pedestrian when you are in pedestrian lane, am I correct? If I'm incorrect, please correct me. I stand to be corrected. You can yield on pedestrian to avoid the opposite traffic light.

    7. My city just recently built a junction with extreme wait times for cyclist. I didn't measure the duration, but I waited so long that the light went through at least 10 different phases before allowing me to pass. And since it was an indirect left turn, I had to wait for the first light to clear out. And to make matter worst, I had to cross a right turning lane before waiting for the first light, and as usual in this god-forsaken country cars have priority over cyclists, so I had to wait there too. And the worst is that this junction is considered to be excellent bike infrastructure since the bike lanes are separated from the road (it's actually a mixed-use sidewalk with a painted line in the middle, nothing fancy).

Not the junction only but the whole stretch of road is awfully designed, with bike lanes that dumps you onto dangerous roundabouts or bus lanes where you actually have to yield to buses coming from behind you. There's a sloped section that's so bad it's almost funny, where there is a mixed-use sidewalk going downhill (at a relatively steep gradient) and only a painted bike lane going uphill, where cars love to pass you very close by.

It's really hard to believe that all of his was built last year, not 10 years ago, and is supposed to be excellent bike infrastructure by current standards…

    8. This is an important video, because it demonstrates that good cycling infrastructure doesn’t come about by magic (even in a country like the netherlands), you have to fight for it

    9. never expect a cop to use their brain to see the bigger picture and solve problems at a systems level.
they act like machines most of the time.

    10. Traffic lights are dangerous and are never justified. They need to be banned and phased out. Build roundabouts and single-lane zebra crossing islands instead.

    11. Man in my country a protest means police being involved, rioting, some get injured and a lot of time wasted for other citizens. People in the Netherlands should have an international news about politics and lifestyle of other countries, so you know HOW BEAUTIFUL and ADVANCED country you have in order to work together everyday to try and keep it that way with better laws.

A protest with cookies MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    12. Cyclists also have to follow the traffic rules!!! They aren't holy cows. If I will do the same with my car and go on red, I can lose my licence to drive.
If you want to change something, it's fine, but don't be an asshole on the bike

    13. 1:25 this scene is a bit funny because you can clearly see how much space automobile take in our city. There are much more people in that ±2 m wide cycling lane than the wider 2 lane car nearby. The traffic jam is also caused by traffic light wich is created FOR the cars.
