I went to 30 mm at 4.5 bar. It truly is brilliant….!
How wide?
so 40mm is better then 35mm on a gravel bike wannebe a road bike, for only asphalt ?
For me 25mm clinchers at 8.5-9 bar (my weight is 85kg). I don't use tubeless tyres and I don't use tubulars.
Much higher rolling mass with 32mm and sealant over 25mm and TPU inner tubes
I ride 32mm and tubeless. Fast (enough), comfy (keep more speed over uneven tarmac), less prone to puncture.
Love 26mm on let's say, tarmac 3.4/5 smooth.
How is wider =less resistance?
25 mm 120 psi here π
I run 38c width as high as I can possibly get safely, and then about 40 psi on the tires
In GCNβs video comparing skinny tires to wider tires, the skinny tires perform better.
Thatβs ok if your bike frame can accommodate a wider tyre , not going to change a whole bike just to get a few MM wider tyre π
Are 28mm and 32mm still road bike or gravel?
32mm tubeless on my road bike and Iβm as fast as I was on 25
For once, i agree with this push for innovation. It improves the ride and therefore the entire experience, which is great for pros and amateurs alike.
That being said, in my opinion, they're called road bikes for a reason. If you insist of choosing rally stages to ride on and then complain that a 25C just won't suffice, you're the problem, not the tires.
Believe it or not you can actually thank bicycle Messengers for The Wider tires. We have been racing on 28 since the early 2000s. As more and more people started racing with us on actual Street courses more and more Riders got more comfortable with bigger tires. I'd say prove me wrong. But you probably have no subculture frame of reference
Most people over inflated their tires.
I larger tyre has a large contact patch. As a result, there is a higher rolling resistance FACT.. stop reading a marketing manual.
32mm Conti GP 5000 S TR at 70psi…. Perfect on Irish Roads…
32mm<40km/h and 28mm>40km/h
28 FTW
I dont think this is correct. Comfort and shock absorbtion is more about pressure than size.
the lower rolling resistance of wider tyres is actually BS when you normalise for the correct tyre pressures. The comfort and compliance however is still a massive deal and means you will be a lot less tired 3 hours into a ride
God, I am tired of this posts, I know it is paid but is ridiculous, yes wider bikes are more comfortable, then use a MTB and shut up
