I don’t think the lady was being that rude. It seems similar to you saying “you can’t park here sir” maybe she is under the impression that you aren’t allowed to ride on the sidewalk if it is not a fact
I wish doing this on bike was possible in my area. But my city is just so spread out that it wouldn't be possible. I'm also shocked that nobody steals your bike! If I left my bike unattended and unlocked like you do, it would be gone in no time!
