Fire crews were called to Sutton station after an e-bike burst into flames on the platform.

The e-bike had been bought four months prior on an online marketplace.

Although the incident happened during rush hour, no injuries were reported.

According to London Fire Brigade, e-bike and e-scooter fires are the fastest growing fire trend in London.

  1. All the lithium batteries with dangerous cells should be banned from any use. Not just from using in EV-s, but from phones, tablets, laptops, tools. There are much safer cells than these.

  2. Lithium-ion overheats faster in EV's or things like this. Eventually the battery tech will get better. But many companies choose to cut safety and security in exchange for higher profits and sales.

  3. Those random projectiles, including one literally flying along the platform, are easily the scariest part of this footage. It's a miracle nobody was seriously injured.

  4. Crazy to think… if a small lithium battery can melt a man's leg on a plane… 10x the size of those will detonate like this… imagine the kind of explosions we're going to see from car batteries :

  5. Geez just think about having one of those parked in the garage at the house.
Some one gets an e-bike and then ends up losing the home because it self destructed in flames.
