In this video we see the fat bike roaming wild and free in it’s natural habitat, a truly magical thing to behold. However, snow is definitely not the natural habitat of a Blake, join him on this journey of discovery, and pick up his tips on shredding your fat MTB in the snow.

New conditions means new challenges, the amount of snow we had in the UK over the last week or two isn’t exactly something we’re used to, and it’s definitely not something our resident Zimbabwean is used to. Watch as Blake finds out just how much grip is available with a fat mountain bike, even in what you might think of as very slippery and treacherous conditions. Let us know what you think and if there’s anything we’ve missed in the comments.

    1. while the video is enjoyable to watch, hardly a 'intro to fatbiking in the snow vid.' not really all that informative and watching a pro-level rider tear up some trails is not all that helpful to those newbies who are just getting into fatbiking and looking for pragmatic info.

    2. Great video. I didn’t know it snowed in the UK. The occasional snow dusting. Still a great video. Great editing. And don’t take offence from these Canadian comments; those guys couldn’t produce a video as half decent as yours. It’s the production quality that counts

    3. Being from Canada and an avid fat biker.. First step is getting wide tires. 4.6 up to 5 is great and you'll go over everything.. The smaller sizes are just good for general offroad and light snow

    4. Normally like your stuff but bro, you lost most of your regular fat bikers who do NOT have your skills. This is not an introduction to riding a fat bike in the snow.

    5. My coworker mentioned that I pedal slowly in the snow in my commute. Pedaling 45 minutes in the snow for 6.5 miles of snow and ice. Almost 9 mph isn't that slow!

    6. 4 inch spiked fat tires for my daily morning (3 AM) 4 mile bike ride on the icy, snowy roads in rural eastern Idaho. My wife's fat tad etrike has 4 inch tires. Anybody pedaling less than 4 inch tires in eastern Idaho's winter are inside on Zwift or in the urgent care clinic. Fat tire bikes are almost the only thing my local bike shop sells from October to March. Fat tire bikes are AMAZING! GCN needs to visit eastern Idaho, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons! I will pay for your bike rental. Or you can borrow my fat bike or my wife's fat tad etrike.

    7. this is more like dust of snow on top of the trail i m going to try fat bike this after noon i m in canada will see how low pressure i can rune the tires

    8. Thanks GMBN! This vid has convinced me 100% that i need to purchase a fat bike now (in the sweltering Utah summer heat) for the upcoming winter. Can't wait!

    9. With the right tools (I used a simple bike tool kit https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L that you can strap to the bike) it's simple to assemble. As a 270lb guy looking for a way to get more exercise that's easy on my feet I have been impressed by this bike. The tires ship with air in the tires, but before you ride you need to pump them up som more, but once you do you can ride with confidence. You'll definitely want to replace the seat if you're going to ride for any real distance, but that's the case with most bikes. I'm loving it and it has given me a hobby from my youth back.
