Although mountain biking is a relatively young sport, it has already accumulated a wealth of history and many stories. While many riders are only interested in the latest and greatest tech being released, lucky for us there is still a dedicated community fascinated by the sport’s roots. Join Neil Donoghue and Hans Rey as they explore the remarkable collection of GT Bicycles. They reminisce about the old days of MTB and how the sport has evolved over the years.

    1. Wow what a collection, brings back memories.
That's what I would expect to see at GT head offices if Richard Long was still in charge.
GT has thrown out most of its greatness, former shadow of itself 😢

    2. I still have my 93 USA hand made GT Zaskar LE (chrome) , my 97 GT LTS-2 (anodized red) and my 2000 hand made GT I drive 1.0. (chrome). How crazy in love with the bikes back in the day, spent every penny on them. I think the bike shop owner retied happy.

    3. Oh man, these GTs with the fade and the matching stem, they were just outside of my budget back in the day. Anyone remember cutting groves in the elastomers to make them work better in the cold?

    4. Thank you for reviewing our bike collection, I hope that people on here enjoyed seeing the bikes as much as we do riding and collecting them along with the memorabilia. It started in 88 for me with mountain bikes with my Raleigh and Clive with his Peugeot. We still have these then went onto the black and white Tequesta you saw in the video and Clive on the silver Pantera you see near the end, and finally in 1993 due to a lot of inspiration from Hans and GT I got the turquoise Zaskar that you see being reviewed outside. There are another 15 bikes that are not in this room too, including a re issue Zaskar, 92 Avalanche, Ricochet and many others. There are a couple of newer bikes you may see in the room to mix it up a bit and they do all get ridden especially the Zaskars as they are so iconic as I am sure you will agree. 🤟

    5. Man that GT road champs diecast semi was awsome!😮
I'm probably in the minority that rides bikes and collects diecast😅
I still ride and love my blue GT outpost

    6. In the Netherlands, Arnhem is a real MTB museum with 800(!) vintage mountainbikes, 180(!!) brands. It insane, just like this insane GT collection❤🎉

    7. I have a 97 STS-1 , 98 LTS 1000ds, 98 LTS 2000ds and a 99 STS xcr1000, never ridden an RTS, so the RTS team is my favorite.
I have owned these bikes for over 20 years and still love to ride them.

    8. Yeah this brought me some great memories, the colors, the GT logos, the MX brakes, just missing one GT BMX completed, they were the Ferrari that every kid on the block dreamt of before mountain biking 🙂

    9. From the start of the video–between the on-camera mic, the echo of the room, Neil's lack of enunciation, and Hans's accent–I'm finding it very hard to listen to.

Edit: Will Play Sports Network ever implement closed captioning on its (many, highly popular) channels? They really should.

    10. No no! The first full suspension bike that actually worked was the Mountain Cycle San Andreas. It worked a lot better and it wasn’t a wet noodle like the GT RTS.

    11. I see they've got my first mountain bike in there! It's the '92 Timberline; white with the zebra stripes. It's still in my fleet and is a great town bike!

    12. Super cool The Don Hans is right on saying the rts was the first suspension bike to actually work. I met Hans way back in the early nineties and he may have not broken a frame but his hotel room was full of wheels both fkd and ones waiting to be fkd ha ha . Kinda wish is still had my Zaskar le from 96 . Ar now i sound old ha ha shit i am old .

    13. I ride, and wouldn't swap my 2018 GT Sensor Alloy Comp 29er. Upgraded forks to RS Pike ultimate charger 2.1 – 150mm and shock 130mm RS debonair deluxe ultimate and it's now SLX 12 sp with a 10/45t cassette. Also uped the wheel set. It does everything and is going strong – better than me. Original cost was £1650.00 in that years bike sales. A huge ammount of bike for the money. Don't know why I didn't see more of them. Even World Wide Cyclery did a whole video on them as they were so impressed with the GT and they didn't even sell them.
