  1. Probably but that may be because you are more likely to be Murdered in the US than you are to die while cycling in the Netherlands. Overall traffic safety is the best in Europe.

Why not learn from their example. Start young that's where you can influence attitudes they grow up around bikes it's a way of life and it seems like its a better way of life.

  2. I had my two kids on my bike. We started out in a period we didn't own a car. I felt  so confined to the house not being able to go on my bike with e baby who couldn't sit yet (at 8 month they do usually) that we found a solution: the babybike. A special contraption behind the saddle where you put your "maxi cozy" in.
When my son could sit for himself, we bought him a frontseat withh windscreen (bobike). Before I started putting him in th seat I practiced getting up and off my bike with e sack of potatoes in the seat. to get used to the weight and the changed gravitypoint. It's much higher with one or two kids on your bike.
When the second one got oler we bought a bike car (winthers dolphin) so the kids would be safe if my bike would fall.
The point I wanted to make is that although it maybe looks unsafe, a lot of thought about safety by the parents is put into the transport of their children

  3. Forget about the helmets, but one actually dangerous thing that parents should take more care of: small legs at risk of getting in the wheels! I have seen it happen right in front of me, terrible!

  4. +silvero brovero Watch a few more videos of cycling in the Netherlands. People carry thousands of children every day on bicycles.  They have the lowest accident and injury rate in the world, with no helmets or "seat belts."  The injury and death rate for children in automobiles is a thousand times higher than on bicycles in the Netherlands.  We all rode thousands of miles on bicycles as children with no helmets and never knew of anyone that had a "traumatic head injury."  Take a look at this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xcdb6YlXnyI

Verdad !??? Jajajaja

  6. To all the Americans who find this unsafe and are horrified, please dont compare American infrastructure to the dutch infrastructure we all grewe up like this. one thing is for sure we dont have school shootings, or killer cops on the streets.

  7. I have cycled a lot with the baby of my single mother neigbour. In cold weather I had him attached with a piece of cloth to my body, The baby is on your belly or on your back. That is not only very safe, you can protect the baby when you fall, but you can allso feel how warm the baby is, and, providing enough air to breathe, you can keep the baby warm with your own body heat having it underneath your clothing.

  8. This is a perfectly safe way to transport kids. The infrastructure is very safe and the parents are highly skilled in cycling. These two factors combined mean that helmets are unnecessary. Transporting your kids in a car isn't any safer considering the high amount of car crashes. I'd rather transport my child on bike in the fresh air and prepare them for a life of healthy transport by bike than teaching my kids to be lazy and always go by car.
