I survived 96 hours on Royal Caribbean’s worst rated cruise ship
Allie recently sailed on the oldest Royal Caribbean cruise ship that is regularly rated among the lowest reviews. Grandeur of the Seas is the oldest ship in Royal Caribbean’s fleet, and we got so many questions from our viewers wanting to know if it’s a mistake to go on her.
We went on her sister ship, Adventure of the Seas, in 2022. It was our first RCL cruise and we loved it. The ship was lovely and well maintained. The warm chocolate chip cookies at the buffet were the BEST! 😎🛳️
while my comments are 3 months after this blog….we were on grandeur last feb. 2022. we did an interior room for first time just to try it. while it is true the room is smaller (and we will never do an interior again), the amenities fewer and the ship smaller, i have many + and some – to share…. what entertainment there was was great, staff in dining room were experienced, friendly and excellent, other staff such as bar tenders, next cruise, "help desk", coffee kiosk, really all staff were excellent. the only one that was not was our cabin steward and to be kind, the impression was that he was new and learning the job and he tried very hard. the cabin was not that clean. the major problem was the maintenance of the ship…the aft pool and whirlpool had paint peeled off the walls, out side railings has varnish worn off and bare wood faded. it looked as if the ship had not had regular maintenance. our impression was that since it was 10 years since major work (revitalization, ot enhancement), that rcl was going to sell/retire this ship
I love older and smaller ships and old fashioned traditional cruising without waterparks, 100's of kids , crowds and 4000-5000 other people vying for the same activities, food lines etc . Grandeur needs to be marketed as an adults only ship similar to Virgin voyages ships.
If you book one of the Vision class ships and didn’t do your research that’s on you. It takes 20 minute YouTube search to discern the difference for the older smaller ships vs the new hotness.
10:02 As an Italian it hurt to hear how badly you butchered the pronunciation of those dishes. Gnocchi is pronounced like (Nyo-key) the gn in Italian makes the ny sound, It’s not? gnokey 😂 and burrata caperese, is not pronounced byurata capreese LMFAO 🤣 It’s pronounced like boo-ra-ta ca-preh-zeh. That was probably one of the funniest mispronunciations I ever heard 😂
I love this ship; it's still my favorite. I've sailed on her since 2000.❤ I just got home from a cruise on the celebrity ascent. Yes, it's beautiful and new, but it really makes me appreciate the Grandeur that much more but that's just me.
Give me the Grandeur of the seas any day ! If RCCL retires this class of ships I will be done with cruising! There are plenty of other vacation options. I have no desire to be on a mega ship.
Damn, Grandeur of the Seas was the first cruise I went when I was little back in 2006-07. I remember that kids club you showed, lost one of my baby teeth there 🤣 such good memories.
The only thing that gives me pause before booking a vision class is the shower. As a bigger guy I have no idea how it’ll work for me so I just haven’t booked it. After sailing on the Jewel, I have no issues with old ships that feel slightly under the weather.
I’m booked to Sail in April on the GOS and I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews. I got a great price and didn’t care about large water slides so I booked. I do care about entertainment so I was crossing my fingers. This vlog really really helped me. I feel more at ease and excited about what my husband and I will experience being new to cruising. I’ve been on one cruise 20 years ago and my husband has never cruised before. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll try to report back 😊
I love the Grandeur. I sailed on it frequently when it was based in Baltimore. Yes, it’s old, a bit rusty in places and needs some love. But when I sailed on it in January, the crew was much more passionate and service oriented than on other RC ships that I had sailed on in the past year. I’m pleased that she is based nearby for the season so that I can enjoy her again. All of the food on RC ships is becoming subpar except in the specialty restaurants.
Cruisers need to do their research. I don’t agree that by then promoting their newer ships RC is misleading cruisers. If you want a better ship, you know that the newest ones will be better.
Also just know that if the package is cheaper odds are the cruise ship won’t be as nice. Enjoy what you get or just don’t do the older ships that haven’t been refurbished
We sailed on this ship in February and it was the worst one we have been on. Previously sailed on Carnival's Ecstasy before it's retirement and we both enjoyed that ship more. The onboard entertainment was not as enjoyable and the food was the worst we have had on a cruise. I think the saving grace for the blogger is that they went in without expectations and we went in expecting this cruise to be as good as the ones we have had previously.

We went on our first cruise on Grandeur, had a great time. Going on the Anthem in March so we’ll get to compare the bigger ship.

Reason why Grandeur didn’t get transferred to Pullmantur it went bankrupted

I'm booked for a weekend cruise on Grandeur next year.

I'd be happy to get sent on cruises to give an average guys review/ opinion.
Independence of the seas SUCKS!
I would only do this ship out of San Juan with no sea days. My family would be shit bored
I sailed Grandeur and had an amazing 12 days.
I have a question: is there a Schooner bar and that beautiful area beyond it with the pool table, showroom, etc ??

❤i really enjoy the smaller ships
The worst cruise company is MSC
We think that the smaller ships are better that the new ships. The service, the shows and sea views are better on smaller ships.
If you are an older person you will like it if you are a kid you will hate this ship

we are going on the newest ship and it looks nice but this one isn't the best
It really doesn’t matter how old or small the ship is,royal Caribbean has like the best service
How can you judge grandeur’s condition when you have aged much more poorly?! 😂
I just got back from explorer of the sea and ill NEVER go back!!! Horrible staff, bad calls on craps table old broken slots food sucked!!

What’s so cool about the fleet is there is such a variety of ships to go on based on what you want.
