    1. Surely that's a warranty claim? Surly guarantee their frames for 5 years iirc. I would think that over time that repair weld will break as well. You really need to get a bicycle frame builder to replace the whole chain stay tube or as I say get Surly to replace their frame as it shouldn't have broken unless you did some thing to damage it to cause it to break. I have a Surly Troll with Rohloff hub, no issues yet, touch wood. It could have been dodgy if it snapped while you were riding fast down a steep mountain with hair pin bends. Norway is beautiful. Safe cycling.

    2. What model of Surly do yo have and how many miles did that frame have on it when the chainstay broke? I would appreciate getting your input for I'm considering buying a Surly fat tire bike myself. Thank you in advance.
      P.S. Great story!!

    3. Cool vid with the help from the bikers. I would definitely be onto Surly for a replacement frame. It shouldn't break from normal use.

    4. Your positivity is infectious! Thanks for the awesome video. Now (especially after this video) I have zero regrets now in my Surly Troll purchase!

    5. Id cry if my Loaded Yellow Pugsley got a crack in it! Ive kept it in mint condition an still looks new. I ride it everyday. Good luck friend!

    6. I would imagine the tubing is nearly a mm thick on a chainstay…was it rusting? Find it hard to believe that even chain suck would have lead to that.

    7. Did this on my aluminium MTB frame (no fix possible!) Fortunately I had recently returned from adventuring & I was just going to the shops. New (2nd hand) frame was £70 on ebay. I will always be gambling with this bike. May upgrade to steel in the future.

    8. So much fun watching you solve your problem. Gonna check out some more of your vids! I'm shortly on my way to N Norway with my Surly (Shirley) and my little dog (Murphy). The plan is to bike as far south in Europe as possible in 4 or 5 months – Gibraltar, maybe Sardinia, the dream would be Crete. The dog will decide. All the best mate!

    9. Hey there it's Ray the Canadian dude again . Well i guess that answers one question on if my aluminum Fat bike would be ok or if steal would be better lol i will be packing light tho to. Lucky you , Your blessed with good luck , Karma likes you . i use to hitch hike a lot back in the day and meet some really great people even a Older Nun who was so cool .

    10. Did you say to surly, if so what was the response 🤔, I suppose realistically its made from steel so it can be repaired, do you still have it now , and are you disappointed it broke.

    11. so, three and a half years on, did the repair hold? and for how long? I have a friend who got his aluminum frame repaired similarly in South America and it held up well.
