Cycling around Prague: visiting UNESCO World Heritage Site Kutná Hora

Hi and welcome to WannaGoBiking. My name is Arjan and it is time for a new cycling adventure! This is the first of 2 video’s I made last year, riding around Prague. In this video I ride to UNESCO World Heritage Site Kutná Hora, which makes for a nice stop if you’re in the area.

Hi everyone as you can see I am in Týnec nad Labem which translates as Týnec along the Elbe river cuz Labem is the Czech word for Elbe as I’m not too far from the source of the Elbe. actually I wanted to go there but it’s more than 1,000 M high

And it’s already, almost freezing today so I’m not going to do that instead I’m going to have a very little stroll along the Elbe River and head towards Kutná Hora which I believe, is listed on the UNESCO Heritage list so that should be good only 50k or so and maybe even shorter because

There’s some rain looming and you know what I think about rain but anyway I’ll just make a quick start for  now and I’ll see you along the way see you Kutná Hora look at those colors , nice that has got to be a castle  of some kind, let’s check it out

That is one big castle so that is the chapel well once again I’m caught off guard I have no idea what it is called so I’ll have to look it up for you Národní , National yeah something Museum oh well I don’t know silver smith or something could that be?

Cuz I think Kutná Hora is   or used to be known as a silver mining town but I’m just making that one up well I found a coffee place but I don’t think it’s open but there should be plenty of places in Kutná Hora and that’s only maybe 5-6 kms away

Well that’s the first nice find of the day all right up to Kutná Hora I am not sure about this one I’ll just give a a quick try and and see if we can get through Kutná Hora wow that is impressive ! see if there’s some information see what’s inside

Well maybe you see more than  I did cuz I couldn’t seeanything that’s not a bad view, look at that can’t help wondering though how come you can create these kinds of beautiful beautiful places and then come up with in the 50s 60s 70 and ‘ 80s and ’90s

These hideous Soviet style apartment  blocks I know which one I prefer this is just gorgeous quick look around the corner and then  make my way again cuz hey I’m running late ah yeah so this one’s on the UNESCO world heritage list that makes sense how old is it? 14th century

How cool is this ? love it bird of paradise : Lukáš Rittstein well done Lukáš very very well done love it so that will be the old Cloister I think but again I have to look these things up cuz yeah I’m just here for the afternoon don’t know that much about it

What I do know is I have to get a move on cuz I have a little over an hour of light left and still well 25 30k to do so that’s going to be tight again all  right so that was Kutna Hora hope you liked it

And yeah I think it’s really worthwhile to visit if you’re in Prague longer than one or two days it’s a it’s a nice trip over here so if not you’ve seen it on my video all right let’s go on that’s not bad for a last view on Kutna Hora Okres Kolín

Well something funny about this name funny to me at least as Kolín is the same name as Köln in German or what you English would call Cologne and so this is a Czech version of it maybe this this one came first who knows? and I think that should be Kolín

And then further down there should  be the Ebe River so it’s still quite a few kilometers I think and I’m not sure if I can make it before sunset oh well I have lights so I should be all  right cycle path wow my gosh what luxury

It’s a bit industrial here so not the  nicest view but at least I have a secluded cycle path unfortunately the cycle path  is not as Scenic as I had hoped and yes this is Elbe, Labe River but it is what it is I’m not sure if I’ll see anything interesting along the way
