The tour of Flanders a race like no other ending what is an amazing Festival of cycling with 270 kilm of racing over 17 heling the climes that we have to deal with along the way plus many sections of P cobbles to deal with as well no doubt about the

Favorite for the day world champion Matthew vaner the question was who could stop him he lined up at the front it was cheery towards the beginning and then this all held breaking loose it took a long time for our Breakaway to be established 30 km in fact Luke derich

Was very much part of the opening skirmishes out there and he was joined by some real quality including Bert van B who seemed to be the engine room of the break while such was the quality of the group up front it required a response if

It was going to be denied Victory and so it Julie came to pass eight more Riders went off up the road and alarm Bells were ringing and after doing so much of the fire putting out by ABS in De kerik R vandero himself decided to bridge to a

Group that looked to be too far he made very short work of it got over and then it was a question of when he might go over the top we’re asking that question almost eternally because he is of course a man who thrives on well real pain and

Endurance the weather though was fine not much wind blowing at this point and then well the wind was put up by mattz Patterson himself well he’ taken a tumble at the DW door didn’t seem to diminish him and his fervor for the encounter was clear

To see by everybody but what you can do I can do too said Matthew vandero and it wasn’t long before he was to bridge and then impose himself with 55 km to go after the pedon attack this was the absolute best response and mat you vapo the world champion pushed on the rain

Came down but it wasn’t to be upon his parade this was magnificent could he be caught well the answer was yes he could be but would he be splits was starting to open UPS the the wind blew and some very big names found themselves out of position on more occasions than

Not well having company is a great thing and if you are indeed in Pursuit Of Glory then you certainly want to be part of it Tom squinch had taken over the role from Mass Pon as favorite for Leal track as part of the day and he was in

Very good company with Lawrence pity also along for the ride but by the time we got to the cinberg we were asking asking ourselves the questions that Vander Paul had been asking all day how much company do I actually want out here and indeed have I got a chance to leave

Them behind well knowing that that was going to be the case Ian Garcia had actually pushed on out of a group of favorites that are assembled up front after the Breakaway and those quality Riders had bridged to them unfortunately Iman Garcia thought he dropped a chain but it was a lack of

Traction at the back he remounted couldn’t get started from a static position and ended up running running away with it it certainly looked like with Matthew vandero now kicking on using his cyc cross skills to Perfection on a skittery Surface putting down just enough power to stay on board While

Others were having to uncp and run with their bikes who could possibly stay with him win of the DOR Mato Jorgenson looked to be that man as he appeared over the rise mat van deole looked to be in absolutely Supreme form well when he’s riding like this there

Are very few that can stay with him the copen BG had fallen his way there were still more climbs to come with the Steen bicks D up there and likewise the odont and the patberg still to be taken as well Chase was a sterling one that was being fought behind beo remarkably

Staying as part of proceedings with Dylan turns from Israel Premier Tech but the Gap just seemed to be growing exponentially didn’t matter what the surface was mat Vander Paul looked to be in charge he was being serviced by his own car as well others were helping themselves Michael Matthews really

Strong in these kind of circumstance he went for it bettiol still tempering with Dyan turns and taking turns as well as they tried to keep within range at least Matthew vle but the kilometers were slowly but surely disappearing and there’s a regathering of those who would get something out of the

Today Podium places up for grabs for that group and when the flam Rouge beckoned Matthew vaner who later admitted that quite frankly he didn’t know what his battle plan was at this point said it was the toughest day that he’d had at Flanders and now crossing

The line with the rainbow jersey of the world champion upon his back he stopped up raised his Steed and thanked the cycling gods for what had just happened to him well it’s what he’d made happen a brilliant performance by a man who the entire peltin were trying to

Stop it didn’t matter what their battle plans were he beat them and what about the Sprint for second place well you had to feel sorry I must say for Dylan turns and bettiol they were tagged just at the very last Michael Matthews getting slightly Wayward on the approach looked

Like he was going to finish runner up look a matato it was that got it on the throw and in fact the lines that Matthew had taken meant that third place ultimately went to Neil’s pollit what an amazing day an amazing race to draw to a close a fabulous

Cycling Festival well One race ends another one of course opens up and with Parry ruet still to come we’re asking ourselves if mat vandero could do it again well he enjoyed being faded and we loved watching him ride on what is for many the toughest race of the

Season Belgian love this event but this time they lent it to the Dutchman at yand taking ahead of msato after that Wayward run to the ride poet elevated course a remarkable race with remarkable Riders filling the podium but really mat Vander Paul had one mission that was clearly to win the circumstances with

    Which he made it Outstanding

    1. It’s about time Mathew’s was relegated. He always starts in the middle and finishes at the barriers, was getting sick of seeing his dirty sprinting.

    2. Something is awry. I remember the good ole days when bike racing required tactics right up till the final 5km. We didn't use to have all these extra-terrestrials floating around. You should never be able to ride away from large groups of pros on the flats. This should only happen in a junior race.

    3. With hundred meters left to sprint everyone sprints 100m, but Michael Matthews, he sprints 150m…

They need to relegate him until he learns to sprint straight. That dude…😮

    4. Such hushed mention of the fact that Matthews brought his un-sportive self again. Not the first time. This behaviour should be penalized not just by shifting ranks but money penalties, especially in weather like this.

    5. Paris roubaix will be more interesting by far the most unpredictable race on the calendar because no climbs to separate riders and huge puncture and crash potential so even the stronger riders need a day of good luck

    6. I've been listening to Carlton Kirby for years and have heard him make countless 'plays on words' / puns. Not one has made me laugh and most do not even make sense. Please can Eurosport find a better commentator. It is surely putting people off their coverage and therefore cycling as a whole.

It is also a shame to see the highlights narrated in the past tense. It removes any sense of excitement. Why not use the present tense or the commentary from the live feed?
