Mountain bike helmets cover more surface area with more protection on the back of the head. They are also known for having visors to shield you from the mud, dirt and bugs flying through the air. You can also get full face helmets which cover the entire face and protect the head, face and chin in a crash. A helmet is designed to absorb force and energy over a specific range of impact velocity. Studies found helmets significantly reduced the odds of a head injury.

Hi guys how’s it going I’m going to talk through the selection of helmets I’ve got in front of me here and also unbox a new helmet I’ve got for this Year so the first helmet that I got for mountain biking up here in Scotland is this one here it’s got a nice design kind of like a poker sort of um Casino design I would call it it’s a very heavy helmet I’ve worn it only just a few
Times cuz I have noticed that it’s got no certification label in it so I’m not too sure about actually how well it would protect me in a crash obviously being full face it doesn’t have really any ventilation in it so during the summer it is like putting a microwave on your [Applause]
Head after I realized the full face helmet that I got had no certification in it I decided to go out and buy myself a cheap helmet relatively cheap it’s by G um just a bucket top head like for Induro just a standard sort of riding helmet nice and light really ventilated
Obviously stand adjustment at the back there this has done me well I I even spray painted it black um I don’t really know if that actually affects like the Integrity of the helmet at all but I had this one for about half a year on and off riding
With it when I was just getting back into mountain biking after a year of riding with the Geo helmet I decided to go out and buy myself something better I decided to go for this nice Endura helmet I can’t remember what model it is it’s got a
Nice uh green sort of um abstract sort of camo design I would say on it similar sort of design as had before plenty of ventilation there nice sort of breakaway Peak used this one now for 2 years I would say coming up to 2 years
Again this one has the D at the back of the head there to adjust and make sure it’s nice and secure whilst riding you would have seen me riding this in most of the M bike videos in 2023 see a few little stickers that I’ve put on there just to customize it for
Myself now we’ve gone through all the three helmets that I’ve been riding with over the last few years now let’s move on and unbox the helmet that I’ve got for myself providing the foreseeable future so this is a elite helmet I think you pronounce it and I’m very excited to go riding
With this one so now let’s get it open and see what features it [Applause] [Applause] has so as you can see it comes in a nice little handy travel bag this is actually somewhat padded just to protect the helmet from any bumps and [Applause] scratches so this is what I’m going to be riding with for the foreseeable future I have already had it out of the box and customized it with a few stickers just to make it my own in the Box you do get interchangeable cheek pads so you’ve
Got a thin pair and a thick pair that was already fitted in the helmet when it arrived and these are just to make the helmet more secure for different head shapes and these lock into the inside of the helmet just here with a little pin
And a bit of velc just to make sure that you’re fully ventilated and I believe easily washable you also got your instruction manual and some extra velcro sticky pads as you normally expect to get with a helmet so now let’s look at the helmet itself as
You can see this is a full face helmet it’s super light and it is well ventilated I can’t remember how many vents it has on it but it’s got something like 24 25 or 26 six um just quite a lot for a full face helmet so it
Will keep you nice and cool whil out biking uh in the summer here in Scotland again it’s got that classic adjustable Tow and also the chin strap is just a fidlock so it’s just a little magnetic clasp that automatically clicks into place and you just slide it away
But ease of use when you’re wearing those gloves that can just be a bit com and sometimes nice and secure obviously adjust the dial of the back to make it even more secure when you’re on the rougher Trails but I really like it but this helmet has actually got a unique
Feature so the type of Technology that’s built into this helmet they call it 360 turbine technology and this is for increased brain and head protection during a crash so it does say it reduces up to 40% of rotational brain injury and reduces concussion brain injury up to 30% which is quite
Important thing when you’re thinking about mountain biking if you’re on the more extreme Trails like the black trails and you take a fo you want to protect your head and your brain as much as possible but yet there’s one more feature that this helmet has so the full
Name of this helmet is the elite Endura 2.0 they have got a new one that’s come out Rec recently and they’re on to the fourth edition of this helmet but out of the 2.0 and the 3.0 and the the newer one the four this one seems to be the
Lightest so I went for this one I had great difficulty trying to get it in a medium size to suit my head measurements and so I actually ordered this one from Italy simply because I couldn’t find any more of this helmet in the measurement that I needed in any UK suppliers now
Let me show you about the unique feature of this helmet this gim bar actually breaks away let me see if I can do it there’s buttons on the side here you just push them in and pull it out same on this side simple as that then you’ve got just your standard uro Helmet And then to reattach the chin ma it’s got a couple of clas just on the inside here that do slot into the front of the helmet and see if I can do This putting it on can be a little bit the BL back to a full face [Applause] Helmet so I’m really looking forward to getting back out there this season on the bike and using this helmet if you want to see some mountain bike videos from this channel then just click that link at the top of the screen there thanks for watching I’ll see you next [Applause] Time
