There that one pinch you think you’re going well but it hits like 25% you’re like I know about this buddy after a massive 5 years of the lantern recycling podcast I finally was able to get Patrick to come to Flanders to experience not just the cycling but also the culture around It holy there hole in your sh yeah I crashed in this the other day going into this week the plan was to do the fondan challenge basically 300 plus kilm with the most iconic the most famous Cobble segments and Cobble burgs in Flanders day one get to Flanders here in

The flandin hotel nice sleep all good and so we went out to past EP to do the camberg weather was great views were really good near the French border you can just about see the French border over at lul R how you feeling benj feeling pretty good actually I’m very

Stressed though because I reckon I can do most of the climbs but the Steep ones I’m going to PIR Parish how about you Patrick I feel good my Dutch is good I can even read this West Flemish we’re going to do the camberg now no warm up

So we’ll see how that goes I don’t know if this is the easy or hard side of the kelberg but I think we do the the lenburg first but yeah as you see read it this province of the kenberg is 160 hectares large and was founded in

1995 uh yeah to be fair yeah so yeah I work for a Dutch team great start welcome to the coues my friend we’re going to be on them soon man is attacking that was the first introduction to cobbles though and that was where I thought okay like the ceml bear gowhar

This is harder than I thought come on you can do it go on Ali Ali they’re hard they jot you around so you can’t get your foot or your pedal stroke like nice you can’t get out of the subtle oh this is steep this is real steep here this is like

20% this is the French war memorial here dedicated to the uh United French armies engaged in combat on the mountain or the mo the hills of Flanders de from 15th to the 30th of April so that was maybe the third or fourth Battle of EP I’m not Sure guys yeah we’ve got go now oh really Yeah really disappointed so basically ever since my chain dropped on the on the camber my uh my gears are stuck in the Big Ring which is really annoying cuz you can’t get 19% with a big ring I can’t at least maybe Factory could maybe but I

Can’t that would work that could get up the cam B at that point I was still thinking okay this flond thean challenge we are in It to Win It Patrick was still in it and also for myself I’ve I’ve made quite a leap when it comes to my Fitness

In the last few years and to have this moment kind of taken away in the first spot of it was a bit disappointing but I tried to remember yes the potential flond thean challenge trophy might have been gone for me at that moment but the gains I made are

Still there this is the kelberg from the badier side also using V hem yeah I saw the feasant and I saw the fastest pigeon and the was looking at me like I need the winter plumage looks like you’ve been having a bit too much winter plumage up these Hills

Buddy that one was harder Bel OS is way harder than beler that one’s like hard the hallway but nothing ridiculous love there I can do HW was hard man that’s all the climbs in E put done pretty sure E Done West Flanders completed I’m the Drone man

No all right do some shuffling we made a mistake perhaps too optimistically went to the Cent and Rond of vandra we had lunch chilling out having a chat it’s a bit of drizzle outside it was in harbur and actually and then all of a sudden the rain just intensifies intensifies

And then I have to start my ride again and do do I think another 80 k how many people does it take to put on overshoes quite a bit apparently know how to do it I got on when I finished the first ride I thought I was going to get in the

Car and everyone was going to be like oh just call it a day it’s too much too much faing about and then everyone’s like all right we’re going to Ard I was like D I have to go do the second ride now look at the weather forecast

The night before 4 M rain no bother I can four M rain I’m soft but I’m not like that soft I just R out drinking out the bit on this all over it I don’t like it I don’t like it very much either I got say this rain jacket I’m not sure

I’ve worn since I was a skinny man so we’ll see don’t know if it’ll get on either just about all right better be seen anyway in this sort of weather the plan quickly evolved into us just exploring flounders true and true which included those climbs

Oh you you you you I’ll meet you guys at the cinberg do you need me to stop at the bottom or the Top the bridge is going up to let it barge through this bridge is there a quicker way Benji the climb which was the scariest part of the whole trip or which I also but also the mo I was the most excited about as a challenge was the cinberg where it is the hardest climb we’ve done this week I think it’s the hardest climb

That they use in the tour of flers or any of the races and it was the wet day so you’ve got the hardest climb super wet really steep pinch and we’re trying to film us getting up it you add that all into combination and it it was going

To be super hard so right now I’m on the cop B this is one of the hardest climbs in the tour of Flanders the hardest climb in the t is probably looking at the percentages cuz this is bloody stea behind me goes up to 23% in certain

Areas but got to be honest about it it looks a bit steeper in places that being said Patrick is about to come on this climb so good luck to the man I’m slightly happy I don’t have to do this climb because even I’m walking on here

And I’m barely holding my ground so on the bike this will be very slippery and if you look at the cobbles the hardness of this section is because the cobbles are just like they’re like thrown in here man like who placed these come on this is where pagat attacked V pool in

In the tour of flers and you can see why like it’s so steep pure like puncher effort and it’s not that short either the cobbles though if we do the 20 grade key test I think the belgians been talking a bit too much about how hard the cobbles

Themselves are that is not the hardest part I mean you take away the wet it’s not so bad all right I’m going to focus Now there that one pinch you think you’re going well then hits like 25% you’re like I know about this buddy that was easy Luke what the are people talking about this climb for that was probably the most rewarding climb I did across the 3 days uh of

Cycling in Flanders is getting up to cobber in the wet and uh and also realizing that wow they they the Riders and through of lers they will attack up that continue over the top when it levels off keep attacking each other just to think that when you’re just

Fully gassed recovering at the top I’m so wet my knees my balls yeah yeah yeah I Go just did like those beautiful climb it’s still like these high trenches it’s like you’re in a trench in this climb the ash bit at the end is so nice ah where it levels off but quite see 15% again and you get to the top you you’re

Out of the trench of the area you see Farmland everywhere there’s nothing no cars no people it is so nice even in the Rain I was F with the cold and wet I was happy on the D I was really happy turn right there’s a farmer strike for my ride uh and now I’m all been out of shap but so are on yeah we just did the finish of Dino

Thea COA which is tomorrow I think it’s like every other Belgian race except the finishes in the Kira of course and it’s cobbled like 4% uphill with the lot some steeper bits next R is the flat cble sector coming up in about a kilm and a half and after

That we’ve got uh another flat Cobble sector dor uh 3 km later okay cool you can do this man come on I know I’ve been meaning about group Palmer in the past that if the team car offered me a a warm jacket I listen say listen forget yonus any Martinez is the

Future I love you guys I’ll do half an hour more than I’ll call it quits okay what if I got P now or something okay P Str was the hardest by far was so hard man just so long what wasn’t even flat it was Brutal last SE of the day vies actually not too bad it’s actually okay the light’s fading so got to be sensible mil really tired so no you crashed on the first day off not having a problem only about 80k I think the P strikes is Big sh

So I was good the last hour I really enjoyed like one your fully saturated you can’t get any weather out a couple of gels I actually really enjoyed the last hour it’s like the tinkering with the root really mentally cracks me but riding in the rain when you’re already

Wet I don’t mind so much and like doing the Nira C so from there on I loved it I like except then the part strut that was that was super hard but the bike was really good I feel bad for Ridley Patrick just came out of this rain and

We want to reward him so we’re going to get him his first rour in 10 years right in 10 years yeah I had one in vou a long time ago but we’ll have a pre- dinner for tour which I think is fair enough and only fair we’re at a famous for tour near

Brco on freezing Benji Romy through what what’s an official bigy dealer official bigy dealer means something different where I’m from official bigy dealers like Thursday line Tope operations wasn’t biggy so a fure is basically a bit of a snack shop where you can get fretin with like fried

Snacks and these are the fried snacks I’m looking at for right now sauce do you run so Mayo guy obviously yeah yeah but what what is Bicky sauce is that just T I’ve never tried bigy sauce in my entire life mle pack only 1,000 calories more

Or less we’re about to get stuck in uh we’ve all got different got the Boule Benji’s been talking up for at least 5 years so about what the f yeah of course actually I’m really Keen I wanted to have it for a long time so with curry

Sauce where would you place it on the on the Cher list well the bo is about seven what seven seven I would I wouldn’t need four of them yeah about 7 what a mly crew a few people us oh you got a few strange

Looks in the fure but I was like I just did the cobber in 25 seconds I’m allowed to wear ug boot in your forour I’m pretty sure I own a part of West Flanders now and how did you do the in in 25 seconds 1500 wats for 50 seconds

15 1500 WS 50 seconds easy 1 M bike yeah after a join cycling training plan you can do cber one L you look lean though by the way I don’t know about that not after the cheapies did we even lock it [Laughter] yeah it’s locked this one Wasn’t day two is what I think is well is envelope day it’s the old final of the tour of Flanders the current uh final of omope and we started with the Walen and the Barre a lot of the longer ashall climbs and it was fun it was a

Challeng of course doing it together going up all these climbs it’s a nasty climb the start of the day the Aur 12° not raining best day of my life I’m terrified of this steep section I don’t know what’s gotten in me today but ever since yesterday the Fe of of my

Life is coming up whenever I see a steep section keep going you got loads of Gears left go the small go the smallest B you get three off the back yeah I know I know the actual rout on day two started with the before we got to the

Wolven bag so two climbs that might not have those like super high percentages on paper but their Max percentage is quite High they’ve got those steep pinches and I got to be honest throughout this week I learned that fla is full of fake news climbs they start

Over with 2 3% but then suddenly 19% shows up and you’re like damn I now got to pedal or I’ll fall over so I was just trying to avoid falling over at this point this is the start of the final of omloop head near blade we’re doing om

Loop’s course today this is the wenberg this is where Jorgenson increase the pace right turn really narrow turn into this after you do the hard Hoke normally in the uh envelope so very very steep uh like it’s not so bad here and like all the climbs there’s a 15% section right

There just in front of the car and yeah it’s ashalt but very narrow and then you can’t see the top so if it’s if you string it out like jensson did and you were back like asran you can’t make up positions it’s leveling off now come on

it’s only in my head that’s the worst part on this house is I know I’ve got the legs this house is flat yeah I’m at the point where I want to start exploring can I beat these Cobble climbs can I get over these climbs can I

Survive 100 plus kilm with these hot segments in it where am I at because while I’ve lost weight while I’ve gotten better on the bike every now and then you do need that challenge to see okay how much have I gotten better and what’s left for me to

Conquer got a bit of a crosswind for our right here Benji prob the highlight of day two and a fortuitous result of our Mis planning which maybe was a feature of the last three days was not realizing that noara went through our planned route for day

Two so we go around after the yagur which is what look like a nice Street turn right there’s suddenly a signal Giver or a marshall standing there in a in a fluo jacket being like no no no the car’s not coming through here oh no that means the race is coming through I’m

Made over here as uh let us know and then it also does the ha hog so apparently it’s coming in 5 minutes oh come on up so close oh haer crashed did Ha to crush again dude thing you you can’t control as you wake up the next day how sore you’re

Going to be and especially when I was going over the har hook downhill you you the whole bike shaking you got your contacts in but you even with that you don’t your sunglasses are bobbling everywhere you you actually can’t see where you’re going too

Well the start of the ha H they do this three times in envelope and last this year’s envelope they do this and you had to be in position because of Lacrosse winds in alard and uh as you can see with me not pedaling there’s a descent in here that I didn’t even realize

Existed now a pill that is about 1,800 M long and uh but yeah it’s not too bad it’s it’s not steep like the coffen BG it’s not like one of those really Savage Cobble climbs uh and the real final of that was the mo which again we just seen a couple

Of weeks before I’ve seen it spoken about with fear with trepidation it’s where Bon is attacked canelar attack people been drop people lose the race to Le done it in the Big Ring the last 2 years and to do that it was really really exciting and so yeah even with

Remco aol’s fan club the bar is right there halfway up the mo which I didn’t even realize but this is the real final final of omope and the old tour of Flanders we’ve just come up through Harrisburg yes Harrisburg down there is pretty busy it’s School knockoff and

Then uh you come up a little Hill here and then is that we’ve already done the veston uh this is part of the veston I’d say that it continues a bit more and towards there the end of the street it’s going to start turning into the actual

Mood of here B so this is where right here is where we saw Tim wellins when the the group was supposed to be at 1 minute in envelope and Tim wellin appeared behind behind Wild vard kristofh leaport and Pitcock and it’s flatter still 4% here a bit steep there

And then up that hill is where the mo really starts [Applause] The veston goes for a lot longer than I thought it’s I thought it was start of that or finish of that square we’re still still doing it and now we turn right onto the mo and it’s like it’s one of the scary thing you don’t know what

It looks like it’s the houses all cover it this is 9% yeah when we turn left here this is where dele always has gone the last 2 years Jesus Jesus I got the adrenaline Spike from the dog so maybe that even used to go illegal to have some sort of Setter want

To rip your heart out I think that’s it the hard bit oh no I lied we kick up to the chapel here I went a bit too hard on the sections before the flat section then I tried to restart every flat section and the problem is that the Steep sections are slight bit too long for me so I had to St about like three times but hey I

Walked up the M here I was Bing that’s an achievement in itself yeah yeah it’s a fast scent off uh the mo here you see people trying to come back in the left right and then it’s a St line descend towards the bossburg and if people aren’t pedaling in envelope then as we

Saw in this year a group can come back from nowhere and then you have actually a long climb on the bossburg so I’m keing to see it and uh it completes the final of omope or old tour of Flanders no one really talks about the bosberg

With any any gravitas they don’t say I watch out for the bosberg but then you get there you’ve just on the mo you’ve just been riding for 2 three hours and those cobbles gone for a long time half 1 and 1/2 K kicks up at the end steep

Just past the last houses up ahead The Climb really kicks up turns to Cobble so it’s a climb completely in two parts just only like 3% uh and with a car draft like this it’s not too bad these cement blocks they turn into cobbles just here

I don’t know if it’s real cobbles or PVE it’s real cobbles real cobbles with it’s filled in in the middle in the gutter it’s empty so I try stay on the crown that’s pretty hard like all the CLS the last two days the hard climbs were easier than expected

The easier climbs were harder than the bossburg there was hard that was like really extended cobbles all the way 7% 8% hard uphill and if you’re just on the mo really really hard so that’s the final of envelope done except the Sprint finish in N which I don’t think we’re

Going to do honestly my day was pretty good to finish off with the bz B it’s kind of like the bz B is a perfect example of how much more difficult a cobble section Becomes of 11% oh how much more difficult The Climb Becomes of 11% when you put cobbles on it because

That was a pretty tough one towards the end I reckon yeah it was and it’s also detrition of the climbs before really start hitting you and but that being said it’s also kind of the climb that I enjoy compared to the mood who was a bit

Too steep for me this I enjoyed no no no no you can boast come on okay tell me group group Sprint or smallint M well I predicted merer so I’m hoping merer both right both right you don’t miss we did it we picked the favorite that’s why we picked the the second the

Favorite alongside philson and philson on you crashed out so yeah I’m really I’m a great analyst I need to take in some culture yeah my mom said or I’ve learned that no holiday is complete without a a trip to uh yeah Catholic Cathedral so to CE Mar

So here we are it’s it’s ingrained into me it’s just a force of Habit The cathedral is over a th000 years old really 940 yeah Gothic architecture I really like it I think it’s a nice Cathedral so we went to Kent which is a yeah beautiful I’m not sure if it’s a university town it’s got about four different Cathedrals it seems like

In the old town is really really beautiful Kent and Brugge are sort of iconic like Gothic cities in Flanders and so I really wanted to go there as well we’ve been in the the farming areas or in East LS we’ve been out in e i it

Was time to go to like a major a big city right now we’re at a waffle place I’m going to get this man to try some waffles I haven’t seen the menu yet but I hope we can get one Brussels waffle one Le waffle so we can get both tasted

They don’t have those options at least not on the English menu God damn it alage waffle is more the the kind of thing you’d expect to take with you a warm waffle um where like um sugar warm in it a crape no that’s a

Crape I don’t know if it’s a woman or a man I think it’s a Woman based on the hips kind of looks like yut it looks like that’s not how I imagine looks like that I don’t know how you imagine you yeah this is like we should you know

On Twitter sport in art yeah you know the account where yeah this is the this one is RO when you have the bandages Tes so blood this seems quite like Airy yeah this is less Airy but it’s very good very Good where’s the ster what’s that that St but why is it C something different cuz Belgium first I burn my mouth up with a chair there came out Heaven that was really really nice and I’m glad we had it actually day three was the best day you could possibly hope for doing a ride in early March in Flanders 15° Sunny it was like

The legs of Tom Bonin or Tom Bonin himself which we saw at the top of the diur had smiled upon us maybe a demigod in these parts to give us the best day possible for riding for filming it was unbelievable and we were doing also some

Of the really the hard climbs and the historic climbs the final of the tour of Flanders alamon parber third day in Flanders finally the sun’s come out all good rides start in a random car park we’re in like Supermarket car park uh in Flanders but with a French name it seems

To be common here and we’re doing the main tour of Flanders climbs I got a map I’ll read out some stats for you there for the qu there’s no better place for a monument than the rondan L just past the summit of the alont in 1913 they did this I don’t know

How they did it their names are all painted on the road surface the parber though is I think the hardest climb today definitely yes and maybe the third Harvest after averaging 12% all cobbles it is uh yeah and you may know the qu because that’s where pogy goes has gone the last

2 years this trolley lady just crazy you live out of that should be right this down yeah best would do a video can I get up the alir in a trolley cam Jeff is that’s your next video idea put wheel put put pedals on that trolley will I beat pagat time

No will I try no will I get up it maybe um have you done the CL mon I’ve done the quad one before in uh in fill on rain thunder and lightning so today’s a bit better condition so it should be more fun but after the qu we’re going to

See a bit more of Luke K our boy that’s usually behind the scenes cuz he likes to do uh he like to ride the second part of the R Little bit of a headwind on chont I can feel so listen I don’t want I know we do the Watts calculations I think conservatively that’s going to Poss me beating pogy’s time up here so of of all the the flandrian challenge climbs yeah I wanted to do the coffen BG

Yeah I wanted to do the mo but to do the quam pober combination having seen those two in the races you see three times every year to see figa dominate on it to see people drop lose the race the whole season builds up to can you follow

On these two climbs and to then go and experience that was fantastic and the town of Cl mons really really beautiful on The alqua Mod now good ashfold surface they do this three times in the tour of Flanders first time 100ks in kind of where the race really starts if there’s not

Crosswinds second time 55k to go in first time you’ll see the domestiques luk row and stuff on the front Inner Line all chill and then this year and the year before pogy second time just dropped everybody this year went clear made it look flat had his UAE team they do a

Lead out on the ashle section where I’m breathing heavy not really a climb for them even though it’s 7% and then just near the The quamon Village the Cobble start like this and pogy just absolutely centered up here turns right usually there’s a breakaway they’re in a line see how narrow it is

And then the last time they do it under 30ks to go pober after which is the shortest hardest climb of the race and so this is really like the two climbs that Define the tour ofers parkour at the moment and where pogy has just been un under unbeatable and redefine the tour of

Flanders with a rider like him making vpol and theard look look slow on these sort of climbs what I’m noticing in places is it really has a pronounced Crown right here you can see it’s a pyramid in the middle of the road and if you can’t pick your

Line if you’re in the group it’s going to cost you watch surely so the flat section after Quant is where the VIP tensor all are is a great place obviously cuz it’s on a level and you’re right you can see see the Riders and you see them three times because they

Obviously do The Quon three times got the field on the side and this is one of those segments like the the flatter segment of the other quad one there the damage can be done but here you can really keep that keep that Gap and even lengthen it if someone’s already

Suffering from the segment before and a bit further it starts going uphill again it’s not the most Retcher section there but it’s still going to do some damage after the flatter section through the village ofont it kicks up again and it just keeps going so this is the longest

Cobble climb we do on the whole trip in Flanders I’m really happy to do it So there’s a landslide on the way to the PBG from the chont and just just there and that’s where people I think normally stand or I don’t know there’d be people standing but also the Riders can’t there a big drop right there and it’s also off camber so if you someone bumps shoulders

With you on this narrow run into the pter BG you’d be going off uh yeah 5 m drop so they’ve they’re obviously fixing it up it’s supposed to open tomorrow actually and the RAC is or on Saturday that it’s supposed to be fixed so the race is in what 2 weeks so

It should be fixed by then it looks like theber was probably one of the most beautiful climbs in terms of you get to the top you just have this Vista over all the Farms there house with like on a moat has a moat around at the bottom and

If you come the opposite direction from the race and turn left up the climb which we have to do The pobg was actually harder than I expected I thought the coffin BG it won’t be so hard but actually I started too fast at the beginning and then Luke said it’s a bit hard at the end I’d be careful and then right at the end I was

Gass so this is just a steep bid there before it bends you can’t really see it from this angle Nether White House is where trapik attacked when he was on in 2021 on Bahrain I think the second last part of B and he really attacked vpol B

At you everybody and then they turn left here go down a really fast descent but uh yeah this is probably this is the hardest climb in the final of the tour of farers or cofen BG they do it’s the combination with the yeah which is really close exactly there’s no rest I

Mean he3 they do it the opposite way first the P then the GU and they and they do the PBG is the last major climb of the tour of lers as well like when vpol has a gap here or vanard was just on a gap here you will never catch back

Probably the stronger guy that’s what we’ve seen the last few years before I hear any YouTube car ah L you’re grinding you’re grinding my R battery died on the turn into the PBG you think I want to be in the middle of the block going up that thing I know

It’s you know but anyway excuses excuses but proof we’re changing it I don’t know what Cadence I did but Jo 51 51 joint cycling loc Cadence work I mean shout out to the boys what literally what the of all the places there’s like three places no not even like

What kber kelberg I swear curg and the part BG and this is the only climb where the car’s been at the top and we’re doing Loops it’s literally the only place and at the bottom it’s like well then Luke said to me he’s like do

You need a push do you need a push I like off Luke I’d rather walk I’d rather fall over at the end of day three we wanted to tick off some of the other most important climbs from other races so the canary BG uh which is in E3 and the

Tyberg which really has been used to explode E3 and it’s also the bonen BG it’s got a statue of Bonin on the top just his legs if you have a strong team it’s a fast running on this narrow road well not not that narrow but if you put

It in a line especially with some crosswind coming in here Nan can move up and then you get the full lead out before the cobbles and bang it goes straight up as the cobbles start and you can launch like quickstep did really effectively in 2021 but like all the

Climbs it starts pretty nice here you know 6% 7% I wouldn’t call this ashal that’s another technical term but whatever this is concrete slabs but then uh the Cobble start the lead out men will finish usually and this is where you have to kick it up a gear or

Some will attack like sinad or stear but it’s a nice climb it’s not it does it’s not quite as scary it’s like the PBG or the coffin BG or if they send it and your C behind Rider sliding back it’s tough to make up positions I think

Mvdp had to do a big effort on the right here in 21 E3 or when uh quickstep launched it and vard actually closed it for him cuz like everything they continue over the top where it’s still pretty steep but after 3 days of Cobble climbs two times part work this morning

I’m not feeling my shars now maybe the most important piece of artw workk on top of the the bonber or the tyberg I forgot the reason it’s called the bonber is because they have Tom bonin’s legs here so so the story is that yeah well not the

Story they made it they did this in 2023 it was recent last year they made these it’s a cast mold of of Tom Bon’s literal legs I think he went in and they did a mold of his legs and so it’s his feet are huge if they’re really his feet

They’re much bigger than my feet so but yeah remind me of a Funny Story with Tom B his legs before at the start of his career there was an interview with Michelle viit and they sitting on a bed and he car the stus austral your YouTube

Video if you if you know you know and mich boy slapping slapping Tom P his legs like look at this fine young man so like I’ll give them a feel maybe other people give them a feel I don’t know if you’re allowed to do that but that it’s

Nice to have that on the time B like it is a when if was first unveiled I remember anglophone media was like oh what’s that but I guess his legs did the talking on this climb for many many Years 3 days in flers the weather got progressively better each day finishing on the best day and yeah this morning was great quam patberg tyberg canberg sanburg was cool too that was a hot that was again a nice climb Cobble really cool to see the flers climbs and

Uh tick them off the bucket list to do this adventure together with the boys that’s fantastic fastic it’s a it was a wonderful experience doing so and to able to have them explore flounders and show them some of the things I like about flers as well I’ve never been

Anywhere like this where the road surface is constantly changing the road is either narrowing or widening it’s whatever it could be cobbles it could be nice PVE it could be a farmer could have just gone through with his tractor that week and there’s mud all over it and you

Always have to be paying attention and I’ve never been anywhere like that before uh so that was the biggest shock is is feeling that and and that’s what makes the races around here so incredible and also the ride around here was yeah nothing like it ever done Before

    1. Off topic – This has been fun to watch these two mortals do the famous sections of the RVV. I have noticed this before but it was more pronounced now (fatigue?), anyway, Patrick talks like he has marbles in his mouth. As a native English speaker, I can better understand Benji despite his Belgian accent. Also, I didn’t realize that asphalt in Australian English is pronounced a-SH-falt or is that a Patrick thing?

    2. Love the video but might want to make sure you check the enlarged lump/lymph node on the right side of your neck that you can see at 2:572:58. Probably nothing but always better to be safe.

    3. Well done! I enjoyed this. I like the seeing the Belgium roads outside of a race. Luc looks quite comfortable climbing the cobbles and Patrick did pretty well too. But I don't know if I'll be tuning in for the race on Sunday after seeing Wednesday's horrible crash. I think it will be too sad watching it without Wout.

    4. It's a pleasure to cycle in Belgium,20 years ago I did 3 cyclosportieve's in Belgium.1 Omloop het Volk,2 Luik-Bastanaken-Luik and 3 Gent-Wevelgem. I enjoyed them all. I hope to ride then again before I'm too old to ride a bicycle.

    5. You guys make quality content! Apparently, because I clicked on this thinking, I'll have a quick look… 42 mins down the road I was still here! Chapeau, BTW always love your content!

    6. remove the front derailleur and the chain will stay in which ever ring its in. i use to shift my front ring with my foot when my front derailleur broke on me.

    7. Patrick: "Day 3 was the best day in terms of weather. Sunny and 15 degrees".
Also Patrick: [turns up in full winter outfit including bulky gloves]
Meanwhile the actual flandrien is sporting short bibs and short sleeved jersey 😅

    8. At first I was like "doing the Flandiren Challenge seems pretty hard to do in a day, and these guys seem pretty relaxed going into it" haha

    9. Well that was a great trip down memory lane from a different perspective . I lived and raced in this region for a year from 1990-91. I lived in the town of kortrijk and joined the local club there which Boonan was a member of as well . Racing was 3 – 4 times a week doing the kermis and Crit circuit , a typical kermis which is Flemish for a fair was about 120 km and we did it just over 2 and a half hours . It’s always interesting to see ppl riding these roads and hills as if it’s like a Mecca and I can understand this . As a young cyclist living in a small country town in Queensland I started watching all the spring classics via video and it became a goal of mine to ride there. I was very lucky to live above a bike shop and the owner was a famous former mechanic of Flandria . Quite often some pros would drop in the shop to say hi , like the day Phil Anderson dropped in and we met, The Motorola team lived close by and Greg lemons house was in the next village I would see him out training some times as well as Phill . I was riding up the koppenberg one day when it was in a much worse condition as it is now and the owner of the house on top cam down in his car , he invited me to go up to his home and the team officials Jan Raas were playing pool as team Buckler were coming up on there Mtb’s , he asked me if I knew what Stront (shit) was and we picked up some shovels from the farm across the road and threw manure all over the cobbles , it was his practicle joke on the team . The owner took me down to Oudenaarde where I got my photo take with Rooks and Vanderaerden . So many magical moments being taken to Gent 6 day and meeting Merckx , Sercu and Danny Clark, being driven over all the pro circuits including Roubaix and I rode the amateur Roubaix myself finishing on the velodrome with the brother of the 1988 winner dirk demol whis brother was in our team Gheert Demol. We had a team of 6 and had 15 flats, I was the only one who didn’t puncture or crash. But life was tough racing for money so you could eat that night riding to a race then riding back home to an apartment with no shower. Good to see ppl doing it much easier today .

    10. This is great, and my family enjoyed watching it the day before Ronde! But wouldn't bikes with fenders/mudguards have been much nicer? I can't blame you for riding sponsored bikes, and can't blame Ridley because they partly depend on selling bikes to pretend/cosplay racers. But seems like 35mm tires and mudguards would be more enjoyable in these conditions for most people who aren't actually racing. Just responsive frame with more clearance.
