Foil, foiling, wingfoil, foil review, hadou brunner, la baule, tuto Wingfoil, wingsurf, wingfoiling, wingsurfing,

Hi everyone! It’s hadou. Today I’m going to tell you about KPARTS, a brand created by AP3D that makes custom parts for us. And what we’ll be talking about in particular in this review is the custom Foil we’re able to make thanks to these small machined

Aluminum fuselages, and the custom stabs that Antonin Poirier from AP3D is able to make, which have enabled us to boost the performance of some Foils. Today, one of my favorite Foils at the moment is what I call the Takallure, a Kujira two mounted on an allure mast with a custom stab

That boosts my pumping and increases my glide. And today I’m going to tell you all about it in detail. I’m going to explain it all to you. let’s go my kiki! Mister Apple isn’t very happy because the neighbors are moving. don’t chase the birds my friend!

Maybe two years ago, I told you about AP3D. I mentioned it because Antonin, who runs the company, had started making rake wedges. But not just any kind of shims, not universal shims, but form shims. In other words, they perfectly fit the shape of all the foils on the market.

So he had plenty of references. I had helped him, and other people had helped him, to build up a bank of shims for all the Foils on the market. Then he made stab shims, small stab shims according to the shape of the different fuselage cradles.

He made lots of little stab shims, and today he’s able to model and design parts in 3D printing, and even in other materials, as things are evolving enormously. So, rake shims, stabilizer shims, all kinds of screws and bolts, 3D-printed harness buckles with aluminum inside,

Measuring tools to measure the rake of your foils and longitudinal V, etc. Geeky little tools for WindFoilers but also for Foilers of all kinds. Antonin also makes custom G10 stabs, and today I’m going to explain how to atomize the perfs of certain Foils using the excellent Mat Allure he’s

Taken as a reference and custom stabs. And, of course, everything that goes with it, so you can tune and fine-tune your Foil on the water. Today, KPARTS creates machined aluminum fuselages and a doodad for a specific brand, CodeFoil, and makes it possible to adapt 6 models of Foil on the mast.

So why is it interesting? Because it’s a mast that’s 13.2mm thick at the bottom, 14.2mm thick at the top, with a protruding leading edge. It’s a super-slick mast. It’s been designed in high modulus and in the Sabfoil factory in Italy for maybe a year now.

So it’s gained in quality of finish, it’s gained in rigidity, and we use it as a reference mast for many of my surf Foil and wing clients. The different fuselages in the range allow you to fit Axis, Gong, Kujira 1, Kujira 2, Allure of course, and CodeFoil, not thanks to a fuselage,

But thanks to a doodad for Code. At the same time, we have a range of three stabilizers, or rather three stabilizer models. There’s the Thazard, a wing-shaped stabilizer designed for bombing, pitching stability, speed and serenity. Then there’s the Mako Glide, my little darling, a pumping beast with maximum projection, great liveliness underfoot,

And a pitching release that offers good maneuverability. In addition, I also use it for Foil surfing. Alongside this, we have the Mako Carve, which is dedicated to carving curves, whether in wing or why not in foil surfing, which will slide a little less. On the other hand, its control and rigidity are superior

To those of the Mako Glide. For those who want to carve curves, we recommend the Mako Carve. There are different sizes for each stab. Screws and bolts are supplied with the stabs. When you buy each stab, you’ll get a pack of shims ranging from -1 to +1 degree, divided into five different shims

Tailored to the foil you’re ordering them for. The great thing about these stabs is that they’re universal. We’ve made sure there’s a flat top and a flat bottom. So whether you’re using a Kujira 1 or Kujira 2, topmount or bottommount, because sometimes stabs are placed on top or underneath,

This stabilizer will work in all cases, sometimes with a little shimming when the stab cradle is rounded. These stabs are flat on top and bottom. And the other very clever thing is that the most universal center distance on the market today is twice the diameter of M6, with a center

Distance of 30 mm. Except that on some Foils, the center distance is a little wider. He has opted for a center-to-center distance ranging from 29 to 35 mm, with an oblong hole at the rear and a single hole at the front, allowing the width of the center-to-center distance to be modulated a little.

For people who buy second-hand stabs. Stabilizer shims are available individually or in separate packs. Even if you already have your stab, you’ll find all the info you need on the Kparts website. I’ll give you the address. The stab is sold there for €249. Let’s move on to the Allure fuselage mast pack.

I’m going to start by telling you a bit about my case, my use. Today I have two Allure masts, 85 HM and 75, thanks to Martin. I love these masts and today I mainly use CodeFoil 720S and 860R wings. I’m using an ART pro 1051 that I’m currently testing.

In fact, I use Kujira 2 Wings, from the 800 to the 1400. Of course, I use Martin’s Aile with its titanium fuselage. Another dedicated fuselage, but it’s possible. The 750 Glide v2 is particularly nice for foil surfing, and I still have some Gong frontwings that I use less but which are compatible.

And this will be of interest to people who are thinking of buying some Wings that they won’t find in their favorite brand, especially very small Wings, maybe for speed. So that’s where it’s really interesting. We have a concept of a Swiss Army knife matt on which you can plug

In different brands of airplanes for testing. It’s really great. And to vary the pleasures, if the brand you like doesn’t make big, high-performance gliders like Takuma does, the 1400 is fine, but there are more high-performance wings with ratios of 13 like the code 860 R. You’ll find it.

If you love Martin’s foils, and you’re thinking, gee, Martin, he doesn’t come out with a little 450 for freerace or slalom Tacket, or even when it’s 35 knots. This little wing, you’ll be able to get it where I think.

There’s a brand that makes Wings at a very low price, so it might be interesting to look for that. So that gives you an option. If you buy a dedicated fuselage for the brands you’re interested in, it opens up enormous possibilities for riding in different styles, programs and wind and wave ranges.

So now, let’s talk unfiltered. I’m going to tell you an anecdote. An anecdote. It’s more than an anecdote, it’s my material journey with the Takuma brand. There are lots of other foils which are excellent today, which I also adore, but I wrinkled the Kujira 1s a lot and we had

A problem with the masts being too supple, the aluminum masts. When we were using the big 1440, which was 1M10. we looked for solutions. I got No Limitz mast for those who know. Unluckily, my first one broke while pumping a surf foil on a day when there wasn’t much to break.

It broke, and I had it replaced. I had a mast that worked very well, but it ventilated when I was winging. It stalled because it was too thick. That was solved on their V2. but anyway, it was fine, but only usable for foil surfing.

It was rigid, but it was still a 16.5 mm thick mast, 16.7 to be exact at its thinnest, so it was still pretty thick. So we said to ourselves: we want a thinner CEDRUS for those who know it, I’m talking to people who are a bit geeky.

It wasn’t really a solution, because their mast was even thicker. It was 19mm at the time, although that’s evolved. So we said wait a minute, screw it, we’ll use Takuma’s T-BAR, which is a 13mm-thick mast. And that was a revelation, because the glide was incredible. Except that. Except that when used for dockstarting,

Pumping and relaunching at low speed. It was like gum, it was like gum. The Glide was insane. The ability to hold in the air was insane because there was zero friction, but it was fucking chewing gum. So for the small Wings, it was fine, but for the big 1400 or the more

Advanced Wings, it was too soft. And that’s when the Takallure project with Martin’s mast came about. The guys (Antonin and Martin) at Allure said to themselves, we could make an interface so that we could use the Allure mast on other foils than the Allure. So you have to be open-minded to accept that.

But in any case, we got what we wanted. We got the three-piece suit, the made-to-measure Foil, we got it, we started putting this big 1440 and Aile underneath on the mast, allure which was as thin as a T-BAR give or take, but much much much stiffer, at least in its Hm version.

Then came the Aile Kujira 2, and I’m talking about Takuma, because that’s really what I’m talking about. These wings are fabulous, they’re great, they’re easy, they’ve got glide. I’m not here to promote the Takuma, but I used to use it a lot, you can tell from my Instagram account.

You can see that I often take out this Foil. There are others. There are codes right now, there’s allure, there’s Silk too, but I use this Takuma Foil or rather Takallure in V2 very regularly a lot. When it arrived, it came with a mast.

This mast was much thicker than the aluminum masts we’d known and even thicker than the T-BAR. So what happened? We felt a huge loss of glide, but despite everything, it glided better than a Kujira 1. So we said to ourselves, if it glides better than a V1 on a mast

That doesn’t glide very well, if we put it on a thin mast that has insane glide, the foil will be just incredible. So Antonin made a fuselage for the Kujira two, and we put the Allure mast on it. What happened? It was fabulous. well, no, it wasn’t fabulous. not Completely.

Because Takuma stabs in Wing use were very good, but in Foil surf use. On low-speed tolerance. I could say the same about AFS. With the Silk, it was a bit tricky, we tended to stall quickly. If you weren’t a big shot with a high level of fitness or the right conditions.

But with us, direct reconnection to get the first wave, you don’t surf the take-off wave. You had to have low-speed recovery and a foil that stalled late. Antonin came up with this, which we put on the Takallure’s ass, and we ended up with a Foil that ticked all the boxes.

At least in our conditions, in our usage. With this little story, I’m explaining how we managed to make ourselves a three-piece suit and customize a Foil to suit our needs. And today, it’s probably one of the best Foils I’ve ever used. But it’s true that there’s not much in the way of allure,

There’s not much in the way of Takuma and that’s it, it’s K-Parts. It’s a bit of a hybrid foil. On the packs, my fuselages you don’t have a stab with by default you’re going to have the mast, the fuselage. The fuselage is machined from aluminum. That’s done in China.

All the anodizing is done in France by a French company. For the mast + fuselage packs, we have a price of €1,550 at the end of January 2024 for the somewhat specific codeFoil pack, which just requires a sturdy aluminum doodad and nothing protruding. Everything comes flush.

We’re a little cheaper because obviously there’s less material. We’re talking about €1,400. Mat + doodad. All these prices are given for the 75 m mast. If you take the 85 mast, which is a little longer, you’ll pay an extra €40. That’s all there is to it.

Note that if in your pack you can buy the stab with your choice of Mako Glide 155 by chance, you’ll pay €229 instead of €249. So we’re talking about a pack that’s a little more optimized in terms of budget. I’m not into design details, but the aluminum used to make

Up the fuselages is T6 6082. The masts come with a cover, as do the stabilizers. If you order a stab, you have the option of a fuselage cover if you don’t want it to get scratched. If you want to transport it in bulk in the specifications,

Then precision it’s a mast again that’s 13.2mm at the bottom, 14.2mm at the top it’s thin, it has rope but it’s thin. It’s rigid, but it’s thin. So it’s not a freestyle mast. If you want a mast for jumping, if you want a mast for wingspan over 1.10m / 1M20, it’s too much.

The brand doesn’t cover that. It covers itself against that, against uses with frontwings that would be too big. We can’t have everything. We’d like to have a thin mast, to be able to do jumps with 1.40 m wings, but in real life, that’s not possible. Nobody’s done it yet. Maybe they will.

So it’s a mast you’re going to have to favour for wingfoil use, with reasonably sized wings up to one meter, one meter ten, which is also manageable in dockstart with reasonably sized wings. After that, it’s a mast above all for surfing, for gliding, for freeriding and surfing.

Foil I’d like to point out that here among my close pals, four or five of us have the Takallure in 1400 Wings of one meter ten, we had the 1440 before and we do a lot of dockstarting as soon as spring arrives.

So we really loaded up these masts, whether it was the 85 for me, or the 75. We really loaded these masts with ten-meter wings. Now, I know some people are going to say, hadou, it’s 60 kilos, it counts for nothing, but my friends, they’re 80 kilos.

So I think we’re talking about pretty standard sizes. For the fuselages, just to clarify, you can of course buy them on your own. Let’s say you’ve bought a pack with a fuselage for a Takuma V1 tomorrow. If you want a fuselage to fit allure wings, or axis wings if we’re staying

With K-parts, or why not another brand, you can buy the other fuselage, which costs 300 € and will enable you to plug in different planes on the same CodeFoil mast, the only specificity being that it’s a doodad that’s sold for 150 € each.

If you ever want to adapt codeFoil’s superb wings – which I recommend, by the way – you’ll just have to add this little doodad instead of a specific fuselage, and you’ll keep the plane and the codeFoil carbon fuselage in the clever little special features.

You KNOW that a Takuma Kujira 2 has a stab that attaches with a notch and there’s a single M8 screw and the stab being recessed, it’s never going to turn. It’s pressurized with the M8 screw. Our stab and KPART’s custom stab have a standard 30mm center distance, a little over 30mm sometimes.

So he made a notch in the fuselage to accommodate an M8 screw for the Takuma stab, and on either side there are two M8 holes, M6 inserts for screwing in this kind of stab, with just a shim to close off the small area in which the Takuma stab is housed.

It’s filled in to create a flat area on the zone, a flat docking area to accommodate these stabs. Hello friends, it’s off to the dockstart rando, we’re going to put this not-so-old HM 2023 allure mast to the pumping test. fuselage KPARTS by AP3D, Stab Custom 155.

There’s also the 170 and I’ve got the Kujira II 1400. A pleasant surprise. Friend Matt joins us with his 1400 V2. On his. Takallure. Let’s join friend Matt Yes. Takallure’s rendezvous The Takallure. Ah! Ah! Ah! It is well Matt I arrived well burned. You’re going the wrong way?!

Well yes, the ears are up but you walk great. Super important point that about 70% of people get wrong. The stab. Stab position Ears down in working order underwater. The ears should be scraping the sand. These are the lowest points of your Foil when you’re sailing,

So don’t put it upside down, it won’t work at all. Likewise, you’re going to miss the front foot and you’re going to have maneuverability that you may find not bad, but that’s not how you’re going to use this stab. On the Gong fuselage Interesting. Initially, we have a relatively long fuselage.

Antonin has installed two rows of holes to accommodate two stab positions. If you’d like to move them forward to unbend your pitch stability a little, you can do so. You have two positions, a bit like on an AFS Silk 650 for the Axis fuselage. For the moment, the fuselage that exists is based

On an advanced ultra short. It’s really perhaps the stab fuselage the most. Used on the big wings. It’s also a good idea to use crazy shorts. In any case, what you have to bear in mind is that on a stab like this, which is very thin, very thin, pitch stability is pretty unbridled.

At the same time, as you can see, the holes are quite far back, with a winglet that’s a bit bat-like. You have little material behind the stab and a fairly advanced profile, which will also compensate for the effect of the fuselage’s length. So you’ll keep a good pitch mania with this configuration.

Low speed tolerances On the other hand. Damn. More. Generally speaking, in each case, Kujira one, Kujira two, codeFoil, Gong or Axis and maybe others tomorrow. In the tests, we chose to keep the feeling as close as possible

To what the brands do at the start, not to end up with Nose up or Nose down or a shift in sensation because the mast will have been implanted in a different place in relation to the front wing. So this was really done with the idea that you should be able to find

Your sensations and of course have better ones. Because the mast is thinner and often stiffer than the brand’s original mast. Let’s move on to my overall feelings on the water, on each of the setups tested, all brands included. Already on the Kujira 1 En mat Alu , the rigidity was really questionable

And the masts twisted. It’s still aluminum. Here it is. The Allure mat You’ll have the rigidity, but you’ll have almost the glide of the T-BAR. You’ll have the glide of the T-BAR, with a little less mania because you’ve got a bit more rope, but it’s all a question of adjustment and stab.

So that’s really good. And we’ve got a mast that doesn’t ventilate. We’re going to have a rigidity pretty close to what we have with HD 80. Now on Takuma, but we have a much better glide because we obviously have a thinner mast.

Then on the Kujira 2, I find that compared to the carbon mast, we already have a mast: the 85 for me ventilates a little in Takuma V2, the 75 doesn’t, but the 85 clearly does. So we’ve got a mast that doesn’t ventilate in Allure, we’ve got a mast

That glides better, we’ve got a mast that consumes less energy when pumping. So we recover, we recover tolerance at low speed. That’s all there is to it. Then I didn’t talk about fuselages, but fuselages: the fact of being able to fit on really specific foils like the Kujira two,

Which only tolerates stabs with an M8 screw, the fact of being able to fit stabs with a 30 center distance, either Kane stabs (KD Maui), Antonin AP3D stabs, customs or other stabs. That’s cool, because it increases your range of use, starting with your low-speed tolerance and pumping performance.

If you put on a Mako Glide, you’ll have low-speed tolerance and you’ll gain in projection when pumping compared with the original stab, while still maintaining decent carving. Antonin is working on Mako carve V2s, which will be thinner, have fewer strings in the ears and be stiffer.

So we’ll have the best of both worlds, between a Mako glide Glide and a Mako Carve V1. So it’s really interesting to be able to position this type of stab on the Kujira two, for example. On the Gong. What’s interesting is that I don’t talk much about the brand,

But we’re going to have access to a thin mast. Maybe there will be one tomorrow, but for the moment there isn’t one. So for people who want to use wings, once again moderate-sized wings, it’s going to be super interesting for those who want to bomb the mast is thin.

And in ’85 on the very small wing, I got a YPRA that makes 450. That’s it, I know it’s going to be my speed foil for example, so I’m finding something cool in it. On the Axis So I love ART pro, I bought one, I have an ART PRO 1051

I no longer have a link with the brand. It’s complicated, but frankly, the glide is great, and putting it on a thin mast, well, I don’t have the ventilation problems I’ve been talking about on the chain, it was the 19 mm alu ones that were concerned, the 76 and 86 carbon masts.

At the time, the older masts were clearly affected, and I’m not the only one to say so. So now I don’t have this problem at all, and I’ve got great glide. So I’m really happy, it unleashes the full potential of the Front Wing, which is Foil en Wing and has a sick Glide,

Which is clearly what I’m going to be interested in from Axis. So I loved the foil assist, I loved the Wing, even in lightWind. And likewise, we can put our custom stab back on to get maximum pumping for possible use in foil surfing, even if the Wings aren’t going to be

Very tolerant in the surf. They don’t like to get out of the water. Basically. What I find interesting is that. we won’t have access to the big 1201s or 1401s because you risk smashing your mast because there’s a huge overhang and we’re talking about a 13 mm mast!

Once again, it’s very thin, so you’ll have to go for Axis masts for that. On the other hand, on Wings like the 1051, sizes below or Spitfires, if you like Spitfires, you’ll have a super-mast that glides well, is super-thin, and will be

Pleasant to pump if you stay with Wings up to the 1051 hard pro, for example. Beyond that, you’ll have to go for axis masts, which are much stiffer but will inevitably generate more drag, and will also be much more expensive. On the codeFoil, the code mat is not bad to start with.

Personally, I’ve just had a few minor ventilation problems with the wing code mat 75. Honestly, it’s not prohibitive. And I’m very sensitive to it, so if I’m sensitive to it, there are plenty of people who won’t have the problem. On the other hand, 720S and the Wings up to 980S are fine.

On the 860, I found that the original mast was a bit soft in torsion, and having tested the 860R on the 75 mast, not the 85. I get a lot of stiffness back, probably due to the rope, but I like it and the mast being thinner, it’s the same in Pumping.

I think that in downwind use, in dockstart use, in simply Pumping use, the mast brings a plus. It’s obvious to me, from the comparative tests I’ve carried out. So, as you can see, there may or may not be a gain for you, depending on what you want to do.

If you want to go freestyle and jump the mast, this won’t be a solution. If you want to do Pumping Beach Start with wings 1.5m wide, that won’t be a solution either. On the other hand, for all other glide gains, Pumping surf Foil performance, it’s going to be very interesting.

Allure is working on an 80 mast that will be more dedicated to surfing. We can’t wait to see what happens, but in any case, the Kparts fuselages will be compatible with this new mast, since we’ll be capitalizing on the existing connection. In the same way, Antonin doesn’t sleep,

He has his stabs and protos tested, he’s developing his stab range and he relies on a panel of riders. It’s interesting because there are small guys like me, weighing 60 kilos, but there are also some who weigh up to 90 kilos. So we’re really in test phases that are super interesting and really

Concrete. We’re not talking about a guy who pulls out a trick behind his bike and tells everyone that it’s going to work. No, there really is a test phase. He’s not in a hurry to release his products, he wants to release stuff that holds up.

So I think that’s a real credit to him. Overall, what’s cool about the development is that the basic Foils feel has been preserved. We’re not going to have monumental differences in attitude when we put a wingtip mast on a KPARTS fuselage with an AXIS wing,

For example, but we’re still getting the original feel, the angles, the longitudinal V, the rake of the front wing in relation to the plate have all been respected. As for the rest, I’m over a year old and so are my friends who ride here in Takallure, because we use Takuma a lot.

On mat allure, we’ve got over a year’s experience on fuselages, we even started riding prototypes at the beginning and, to be honest, I haven’t had any ageing problems. I haven’t had any problems with the fuselage bending like we had with Takuma’s V1s, for example.

With the Kujira, I’ve had no problems with corrosion, so the quality of the fuselage is clearly good. Well, you’ll find all the info on ap3dcustom.com, and the KPARTS site, which is the Foil glide division and all that. Geek for our Sports.

I’d like to remind you that Antonin is an entrepreneur who does 3D modeling, engineering, who can design parts, who can machine all kinds of materials and who can also do 3D printing. And these applications aren’t necessarily related to gliding, they can be for any other sector.

So I know that there are sometimes business leaders who look at us and do Wing or Foil. People might be interested, so don’t hesitate to contact him if you need to. Until then, I’ll see you. It was Hadou go play, enjoy the wind, the waves. Have fun! Bye bye!

    4. Sympa tout ça ! 🤟
J'ai le mako carve 152 pour ma 750 kujira, mais dès que je le met sur la 1095 je n'ai plus du tout de pied avant.. (Impossible à naviguer). Il faudrait caler à combien selon toi ?

    5. Great review as usual! I have the mako carve 172 and use it with my cloud 9 foils and old kujira and also axis… The new mast from allure 80 cm will be ok for jumping and larger foils or no?
      Thanks
