My charity cycle ride from Le Touquet to Hyères.

Oh I am absolutely Knacked hi my name’s Nick Bell and as possibly some of you know I’m manager of arot here in France near well actually in tuque near doville uh here we breed race horses redw de roosild and most of them run on the flat and over recent years we’ve BR bred

Horses such as minond Marquez zini and the great and one and only isiq who is here showing herself off many of you may also remember especially if you sponsored me that in recent years I done some charity cycle rides in 20121 I did the Ringo carry my way charity CLE

Ride which was actually held around Normandy that year because of covid restrictions and was 170 km long and we raised nearly 6,000 for Down syndrome carry and last year I did the actual charity cycle round the Ringo carry or around the Ia Peninsula and that was in Aid of carry Mountain Rescue

And thank you to anyone that sponsored me for those events now this year I’ve actually got something a bit bigger and a bit longer planned and to show you better I need to show you on the computer this is the Kut app which I use to plan my cycle rides now the intention

Is to leave the Hipp Drome at luk which is up here on the English Channel and cycle all the way through France down to the Mediterranean and the most solidly race course in France I which is below tulon now this will take me 11 days it’s

1,100 km of cycling and it’s 8,000 MERS of climbing now as you can see here it a northernmost race course in France most southern in Aid of addp now who are ad DP well this is who they are o de which is a charity that is involved in

The retraining and rehousing of EX retired racehorses so as a producer roures is an extremely important charity to me and as you can see on the very useful website here exactly what they do okay well there’s some people that probably think that 1100 km isn’t a long way and for those Ultra

Cyclists and people like that it probably isn’t but I have to say for me it is I’m now or will be 63 then I’m overweight and I’m not that fit and the other problem I have that I’ve had a no of illnesses recently uh I had prostate

Cancer uh I have still have a cancer on my pelvic bones and also I have Pon iny saris sarcoid OSIS sorry yeah breath which is the reason that is usually the problem it makes me very very out of breath and as you can hearly here I

Would say my lungs only really work to about 50% of the capacity and that makes it really really difficult when I’m going uphill and so that’s not going to make it the easiest journey in the world but we’ll see we’ll get there Hey
