First rides impression about the Canyon Grizl Aluminum 6, equipped with a Sram 1by 11-44, 12 speeds. Is this gravel bike ideal for bike-touring or bike-packing? How is the handling, the geometry, the saddle, the tires, the drivetrain and the overall look?

The Grizl AL 6 is one of the entry level adventure bike offered by Canyon, which is not currently available on the U.S. market. Its price range between € 1,600 and 1,800 (or the equivalent) depending on the country. This makes the Canyon Grizl AL 6 very appealing. Could this be among the top 10 gravel bike under a value of € 2,000?

Tips: 1) Make your order fast 2) Always create an account 3) Verify your size and follow the indication carefully. A small difference in size is tolerable, but do not oversize the site’s recommendations by more than 4 cm on a bike size 4) Buy a spare derailleur hanger from the website and carry it with you, as they are very fragile and can bend while travelling 5) Mind that the delivery and the cadboard are not included in the price 6) Your bike is under warranty: check your nearest authorized bike garage if needed. If none are around your location, have your Canyon repaired by any bike mechanics; you might be entitled for a reimbursement, but spare the receipt 7) Make sure to follow the Canyon customer care advices 8) Use a protective film to protect your frame paint against your bikepacking gears 9) Respect the bike max load recommendations: 120 kg in total, max 6 kg on the carbon fork. If you are using a rack, verify the max rack load 10) The tires are tubeless ready but not already tubeless, as they come with an inner tube with a presta valve.

Disclaimer: 1) Check your size yourself on the Canyon website and don’t rely on the numbers shown in this video 2) Canyon does not support or sponsor this video 3) These Canyon bikes are for the European market and bike models for other markets may differ 4) Prices are relative to your geographical area. Choose your country to see the exact price and availability for you 5) Any comparison or opinion is personal and based on previous experience based on other bicycles.

Please comment my video and let’s Q&A. I hope to give you a hand in choosing (or not choosing) the GRIZL AL 6 1BY.

Is this another internet product review on YouTube do we still need to do that Oh I’m not a big fan of product reviews on YouTube but I do like being useful before buying my new Canyon Grizzle Al 61 byy I have noticed the absence of a video describing this new bike and presenting its characteristic to the public and this is why I’ve decided to

Do my first product review ever to help anybody interesting on by this beauty the canyon al61 byy or perhaps a similar one so let’s go let’s skip the unboxing a popular practice here on the web but that I find useless as the canyon bikes SC ready mounted a 95% and all the tools

To complete your bike are included the box is not free of charge and must be both with the bicycle it is a strong and easy to open cardboard and I will not throw it away the canyon Grizzle al6 one by it is priced at around €1,600 which

Is a fairly good price Canyon is considered to have a good value for the money and this is probably than to their web-based business only the buy can only be purchased at canyon.com the big success of Canyon is thanks to its design the bicycle looks beautiful and

The aluminum has a carbon look thanks to the hydro forming technology There is almost no sign of welding and can be F in the bottom outside the main triangle out of the eye the al61 by is an entry-level gravel bike coming with an apex one by so

Single chain ring with 40 TOs and a ram Explorer 1144 12 speed if you are a fan of Shimano and willing to spend a little more then opt for the canyon Grizzle 7 one by equipped with Shimano grx but mine that offers a 1142 11 speed I wanted to trust this new Zam

Apex since despite being presented as an entry-level Drive Trin of the Zam family it comes also on carbon gravel bikes such the grizzled carbon version of the six so another price range my choice for an aluminum bike hasn’t been easy but again I wanted to trust the popularity

Of this Grizzle and give it a chance the canyon bikes comes with a large Tire 45 mm and a clear perance of 50 mm a carbon SE post and a carbon Fork which do the most of the vibration killing job aluminum should suits my bike touring bike packing necessities

And the fact that the grizzle aluminum range comes with isets on the back for your rear rack while the carbon grizel has not it is an indication to me another Advantage is of course the price the carbon version the cfsl SE AXS is roughly €1,000 or dollar more

Expensive for a weight gain of less than a kilo exactly 900 G mine size s weighs 10 Kil 35 G versus the carbon one in a medium size at 9 Kil 66 so the choice is very open it it’s more about your riding style for your preference the cfsl 6

Comes with electronic shifters which is seen by many as a plus I don’t mind leaning my bike against anything I don’t mind scratches I tour and pack for days I like cycling to town and parking without obsessions therefore a carbon frame bike is not my thing or better a

Carbon bike would not suit my everyday needs aluminum instead is practical and even more affordable than a good Steel steel frame I will not dig too much into the bike technical specification as this can be found on the canyon website which is very rich of infos as they only sell

Online what I care now is to give my personal humble opinion as I said the painting job and the weldings are top of the notch for a bike of this price range the rum hydraulic brakes are punctual and Powerful so no complains the saddle is a little bit too minimal

For me but I believe that this s Italia model X can make you happy I will change it for something more comfy like a WTB saddle as I tour frequently and I spend even 6 hours or more on a saddle as I said this bike can only be found

Online the order was decently fast I’ve got my bike here in Sweden probably directly from Germany in a week so no complaint after my first ride I have noticed my gear not shifting as expected I was blaming the cable still new then I have accused myself for not getting the

Grizzle 7 with Shimano grx eventually I’ve decided to contact the customer care to have it fixed in fact it was a problem the authorized garage found it out that the derailer hanger was slightly bent fixing this shipping damage is free of charge but I had to wait over a week for have it

Ready not too bad as here in Sweden is still quite cold with the hanger changed the ram Apex is now showing me its capability which are not too bad at all the 1144 offers a good range of speeds for Steep climbs however I do agree with those

Saying that for a more Road use the ideal is using a grx to buy if that is your case then the grizzle 7 is the one for you choosing a bike can be hard the price can clear your mind and a lot depends on availability and discounts I would have loved to access

Some USA or UK brands with no import taxes for example but after all I’m happy with my choice at least for now if you’re planning to buy a canyon consider that the supply chain is not as fast as you would love bikes ends up fast and even

My bike is right now unavailable on the canyon website so make a decision fast if you don’t want to be disappointed I’m currently trying my Grizzle 6 with various setup and gear years I only rode about 100 miles with this bike so it is a little bit too

Early for me to say how this bike would handle long tours on gravel or road but I’ve done my test on any surface so far a 50 mm clearance is a bonus but probably this 45 mm schala tires are an overkill for an everyday use on tarmac these tires are excellent for off-road

They are tubeless ready and having the possibility to ride low pressure helps you to ride on mod grass on loose gravel too personally I plan to go down to 40 mm handling is great the most of the vibration are coming from my handlebar but nothing serious this gravel bike has

A potential to be an oldr rounder a bike that can do it all multitasking as a Swiss knife from long touring to commuting to your daily gravel escape with friends around the parks and trails of your town changing the bag changing your setting and changing your tires

Eventually and you’re ready to go for a new Mission my impression is however that it’s perfect environment is the unpaved of the tarmac here the Grizz will handle the terrain much better than a generic on road bike if you look for a higher maneuverability on single trucks and

Mountain Trails then pay attention to the size you might want to pick your Grizzle in a short size for me as a mostly tour and I descend long roads I want a frame which is a little bit longer with peners on my rear rack and possibly a frame back too the grizzle

Geometry is famously peculiar if typically a person between 172 and 178 would pick a m here your Canyon of choice would be a s I am s and I can confirm to be this bike anything than a small it has truly a Long Reach be careful to stick to the canyon size

Indicator the website might eventually suggest you two size options if you are between sizes in that case it’s up to you it’s about your riding style and preferences don’t be sced you can slightly adjust a couple of cenm by changing your saddle High your pedal position your crank set your shoes or

Your stem even your tires but my suggestion is to look at the metrics and do not exaggerate order during a bike that under many indication is too big for you in the case you are excess mind that this version comes with 27.5 in Wheels it is not a sin or a disaster but

Just be aware of it if I should rate this bike right now after 100 miles thereabout I would give between 7 and A2 and 8 feels uh it feels aggressive both on the tarmac and off-road on ground and on the type of gravel that in Sweden

We use on winter roads so it is excellent it’s an excellent feeling I have changed the saddle so it’s a rather a comfy one there is more pting on this saddle and uh all of a sudden even my complaints of uh slight vibrations or heart feeling on my bottom is like

Gone yeah no complaints at all I believe it’s everything for today and I hope to give you a more detailed onee review in a year’s time the touring season is starting soon and I’m eager to enjoy my new shiny bike I hope to have satisfied your curiosity

    1. I'm still wondering whether to buy 6 1by with apex 1×12 or 8 1by with grx 1×12… the price difference is huge and the only difference is the drive and support
