My final thoughts of the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro and why i choose the Rally Pro over the two bikes. My opinion of some differences between them and which i find the better bike for comfort, touring and a daily bike. #triumph #triumphtiger1200rallypro #triumphtiger1200gtpro #adventuremotorcycle #adventure

So hey folks and welcome back to another video and on today’s video uh I’m out on the rally Pro now I wanted to come out on the GT Pro for the final ride but it’s just been raining Raining Raining and then Triumph collected the bike uh I

Did manage to get out on it about 5 days uh but the days I wanted to film it was just torrential rain so uh what I’ve done is I’ve come out on the rally Pro today uh the is my own bike if you watch the channel you know that so I was

Comparing both this uh rally Pro to the GT Pro just to see if there’s any differences obviously there are some differences between the bikes one’s more Road orientated one’s uh more off-road orientated and uh I just want to give my personal opinion uh having done uh thousands of miles I think something

Like 7,000 miles on uh this bike you know comparing it to the GT Pro obviously this has got the spoke Wheels it’s got the 21in front wheel the same rear wheel uh size as the GT one thing I did find this one is a lot higher up at

The front and also I sit further into this bike now this clearly has an advantage when I’m riding along and doing big tours with it being higher up at the front due to the the longer shocks I don’t get as much wind blast as I did when I was riding the GT

Pro now I have seen comments on the Forum on Facebook and things for the Triumph tigers that people were complaining about the the wind buffeting off the screen um I thought that was strange because I’d never uh had that on the rally Pro obviously because of those

Reasons with it being a little bit taller at the front also riding position um I’ve put the lower seat on this bike so it’s uh 20 mm lower uh it’s more flatter than the original seat and I do find it more comfier so again it makes you sit inside

The bikee a little bit more uh that might be another reason also the bars on this machine you can see here my arm is bent um now now when I bought this bike uh my arms were pretty straight as they were on the GT Pro um what I’ve done on

Here is I’ve added some bar risers which bring I think the bars 20 mm back it certainly helps especially on a long journey so the other thing that I noticed between both bikes it’s only very slight L noticeable as well is just with the 18-in front wheel you do get a

Little bit of track when you go into rots and things on the road the state of the British roads um I prefer again the 21in front wheel uh that just rides over every bump and also with the softer suspension with it being the rally um that also soaks up the bumps a little

Bit better so again I prefer the the rally over the GT Pro downsides with this bike is it’s quite tall um at the moment the suspense tensions in its high position um it’s not adjusted down to the low position that you can do but

Yeah I’m 6’2 I’ve got a 32in uh leg or inside seam and uh I can just flat foot this bike with the low seat with the tall seat or the standard stock seat I’m actually on tiptoes so uh for the taller Rider you know if you’ve got a 32in in

Inside leg you’re 6’2 like me then uh the rally Pro should be okay for you if you’re a shorter Rider then definitely the GT Pro the road going version um is a is a lot better now as you can see on the bike as well as the low seat here

I’ve got the cool covers uh seat cover um I always put this on uh come spring and uh it not only gives cool air underneath your bottom um for the hot days in summer um but it also adds a little bit of comfort um I’ve used this

On my tour last year to Italy um it was really really good so highly recommend that product also with the rally Pro you get engine bars and a some bash plate as well just stops a lot of the mck going up underneath the engine now I had a comment I can’t remember which

Subscriber asked me this but uh they asked does the rally nose dive more than the GT Pro on the road and if set on the same settings I would have to say yes it does now it does have longer Forks so it has different internals and longer

Springs on the front so you’re going to get more dive on this bike um riding both bikes I had them set in Road I had them all set to uh normal damping and uh all the same settings I did find that the GT uh didn’t dive as much on the

Front end um but when I uh Notch these settings up on this bike a little bit towards more sporty um again it stiffened the front end up and there was less Fork di so um it’s not an issue for me I’ve toured on this bike like I said

About 7,000 mil currently um through Switzerland Italy some of those twisty roads in Italy I was really moving uh switch backs 180° Corners up the uh the mountains of Italy and this bike really handled well um so if you’re thinking of a rally and you think will the 21-in

Front wheel suit Road riding um it does perfectly now the difference in price the GT was 17 295 and the rally Pro is 18295 so a grand difference between both bikes um having ridden both now um I’m a little bit biased towards this bike because I’ve owned it for probably the

Last 10 months and done quite a few tours and things this bike suits me but um it might not suit everyone so it is just my opinion what I would recommend is go and sit on one in the showroom and uh obviously try and test ride both

Bikes to see which Suits You um personally one thing that did it for me on this bike was the green khy color uh that it came with on the GT Pro that I’ve just sent back that was the blue they’re no longer doing the blue color

Which is a shame but um again the blue wouldn’t be a color that I would pick um so maybe it’s just one that’s not being selling so now they offer different colors have a look on the Triumph website you’ll find all of the details so like I mentioned this is my

Rally Pro if you’ve not watched the channel before um you’ll see that there’s a few different modifications that I’ve done on this bike I’ll give you a quick wiiz over those now um so the uh crash bars you can see just here um I actually powder coated these white

Also the bash plate underneath you can see it’s powder coated black I also powder coated the rear foot pegs on the passenger ones um what else have I done to the bike so I mentioned the cool covers seat cover you can see it just here really really really comfy and I

Think you can see from the sculpture of the seat to the tank you can see more of an indents compared to the GT like I mentioned you are sat more in this bike than on top of it other things I added a screen or a headlight cover just a clear

One from Triumph Triumph accessory I added the luggage racks these are the GI uh single use uh luggage racks so these don’t remove they’re not the quick release ones and these fit the uh G monarchy boxes I have the dolomiti piers I’ll just pop a picture on screen just

Now with the bike with them on and then I’ve got a top box uh plate from Gibby just there for my 30 L top box um but one thing I wanted to quickly show you um apart from the tank bag which is thew motch tank bag is this

Device just here um now this is a um tire pressure monitor system um I fitted this on the motorcycle the other day day and uh I’ve left the bike for a couple of weeks while I’ve been riding the GT Pro and set my tire pressures at 42 rear

36 front and uh over the two weeks they’ve not leaked air or anything and uh what happens on the front I don’t know if you can just see that so just here you’ve got the tire pressure monitor um screwed onto the end of the valve stems and that works really well um

It’ll actually ably make a sound if we’re losing tire pressure or if um Tire temperature is too high or too low you can set the parameters of that um I’ll pop a link for that device um got it off Amazon it was about £65 and uh I’ll pop a link in the

Description below now you can get the tri monitor system as an accessory uh which are the ones that go inside the wheel and obviously it’ll come up on the dash I’m not sure how good that system is whether it alerts your makes a a tone or anything if you’re losing pressure or

It just flashes up on the dash but uh yeah this bike didn’t come with that option on it so I went for the aftermarket version other things you see are my satnav also with the uh lockable mount on the top just there that’s the Garmin Zumo

XT and then I’ve got my phone mount which is the SP connect system with the wireless charging pad just there like I say it just depends which version suits you better um but this is the bike that I chose out of the uh the five they have

In the lineup on the uh the tiger 1200 okay so what we’ll do now we’ll just hop back on the bike I’m just going to head into the South Lakes for a coffee um I hope you enjoyed the previous video on the uh tiger 1200 GT

Pro and uh I’m looking forward to some Adventures on the rally Pro behind me middle of March sun’s out and it’s blue Sky it’s about 9° um it’s taken a long time coming um with some warmer um nicer sunnier weather but hopefully we’re past the winter now and uh I look forward to

Bringing you some exciting um trips and tours and bike reviews and things on the channel okay so I’m using the DJI remote today and uh this is great because it just sinks both cameras up and one press starts the recording and two presses stops the recording so they’re perfectly

Sync one thing that somebody said about the DJI remote because it’s GPS activated then uh obviously the battery only last for a couple of hours so I’m just testing that out to see how good that is currently so we’ve got our tire pressure monitor system just on here don’t know

If you can see that but uh the screen isn’t that bright um but uh yeah you can see it quite visible um when you’re riding along and it gives your tire pressure current gives the temperature of the tire as well threatening a little bit of rain this afternoon today being

Saturday but it’s just night’s nice but it’s just nice to be back out on my own bike sometimes when you get the Press bikes and things to uh to review you end up not riding your bike for weeks on end and uh yeah I’ve missed my own bike

Actually very much so it’s lovely to get back on it and ride the uh the rally Pro one good thing about the Press bikes over the winter is that obviously without riding your own bike you’re not uh exposing your own bikes to the salt on the road

Roads so obviously it’s kept them in uh tiptop condition I think Comfort wise I know on the new 2024 tiger 1200s they’ve made some adjustments and uh one of them being the seat they’ve made more flatter I actually uh see on the um website I can’t remember it’s a triumphs

Park website now I was looking at the different seats because this low seat heated seat I bought for this bike I just picked it up off the shelf in Triumph uh down in Blackburn and and paid for it and put it on the bike but I noticed the part numbers are all

Different between the Explorer the pros even between the rally in the GTS so they are slightly different so I’m actually unsure whether this is the right seat for the bike but it does fit perfectly and um the low seat to me just feels a little bit

Flatter than the uh the standard seat uh which makes it more comfy which is one of the things that they’ve done on the new bike actually they’ve uh made the uh the bike and the seat so that it sits more flatter more comfy um not that it

Was uncomfy like I say I’ve done you know 7,000 mil on this bike and I did uh 3,000 I think it was on the rally Explorer to Switzerland in 2022 I think it was now August um so there are differences between uh the different versions

Whether it be the road going GT Pro the road going GT Explorer the rally uh Pro and the rally Explorer uh definitely some differences between these bikes um whether that be you know geometry with chassis um definitely Forks are different obviously um you sit more inside the the rally vers version and uh

Potentially the Explorer version on the GT as well with it having the 30 L tank um obviously it’s higher up at the front as well so if you’re on a big tour and you’re Laden with fuel you’ve just got to be wary that you’ve you’ve got all of

That fuel in the top especially if you’ve got luggage on the back as well but yeah great bike I would say this is uh one of the best bikes if not the best that I’ve had over the 30 plus years of riding motorcycles um it’s definitely the most

Comfiest for long Journeys really really comfy and uh great for exploring uh throttle everything’s really smooth so it’s great for just poodling around town and uh doing bigger trips on so definitely my go-to bike and uh yeah I know the bonaval tucked up has been all

Winter uh the t120 Bonny uh that will be coming out uh as I mentioned in a previous video at the end of March although it might be just into April I’ve got um quite a lot going on just at the moment with work and uh private life also uh in April we’ve got

Some uh nice trips coming up I’ve got a trip coming up to tenie uh I think in the uh the middle of April out to Easy Rider tenie to ride some bikes over there around the volcano which will be lovely and also a couple of family breaks and things in between so yeah

Looking forward to the summer ahead um got some big plans actually some something I’ve not discussed on the channel before and um yeah so I’ll I’ll bring that to you towards the end of April um with some news but uh yeah I’m just uh heading into Grand OFA

SS and going to grab a uh nice coffee so thanks again guys for tuning in and uh I know it’s a short video today um we’ll try and bring some uh more content as the weather gets better up into the Lake District some Cafe runs and things in

Between of the uh the tours and stuff that we’re doing this year but yeah if you’re not a subscriber to the channel and don’t forget to hit that subscribe button doesn’t cost anything and uh it all helps the channel guys and also if you can give me a a

Like that will be great that helps the algorithm but yeah thanks again and we’ll catch you on another one soon uh shall for now

    1. In theory; lowering the seat position should (to a degree) offset the top heavy-ness of a full fuel tank + luggage, by putting the rider weight lower down "in" the bike. Also the handlebar risers put more weight on the seat & off the bars.
It all adds up when you're riding for 5 – 6 hours a day on tour.
I look for a straight back & bent elbows on an adventure bike, & most manufacturers provide this straight out of the box, with some minor modifications & adjustments to suit.

    2. Nice vid Nick….I'll be having a look at the tyre pressure monitor for my 850 sport. If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost to have your crash bars powder coated

    3. If I went touring, that’s the bike I’d use. I’d quite like one as it goes, but I’m still into sportsbikes and track days. I’m nearly 56, still can’t get the speed bug out of my system 😂

    4. Great video explaining the difference of the 2 bikes I find today I lose my way with some manufacturers as they make so many similar bikes but the quality in triumph I think is very good ride safe take care looking forward to your travels this year ride safe take care

    5. I think it boils down to styling between the two Tiger variants. Having also ridden both, and owned a GT-Pro for a year (and done approx 7000 miles), i made my choice based on the seat height (tho the GT is still a tall thing to swing a leg over) and style – I like the road-oriented styling. Certainly in the miles I've done on the GT-Pro in the UK, France and Italy, I've not noticed anything around comfort or rideability that makes me regret my choice.
Good video though, and I'm looking forward to following you on your travels in 2024!

    6. Your Rally Pro definitely the better looking of the two. I had the old gen 3 Tiger which was top heavy but a wonderful touring bike, you could smoke a cigar behind the screen at motorway speeds 😂. I swapped for a GS though because of the weight issue but I am tempted with this as a bit of Triumph fan 🤔

    7. How come Rallypro seems to have the rear radar? Noticed the rear view mirror with the warning light, and in my knowledge this is available only with Rally explorer?

    8. On a bike fitted with TPMS as original equipment, the screen splits in half and you get a big red low pressure symbol with accompanying text for which tire. If you go to TPMS on the TFT menu, you get a monochromatic picture of the bike and the affected tire(s) coloured in red. Air pressure in each tire is indicated below, in bar. If I remember correctly, the only other measure is PSI and I believe the only way to get that is to switch everything over to Imperial. So…for someone who prefers PSI, but lives in a country where air is dispensed in Kilopascals, I've now got to stretch my tiny brain to calculate bar. 😢

I've made a conversion chart with some sticker paper. I stuck it on the inside lid of my top box.

    9. Good comparison, I mean it's kinda limited what more you can say really between the two bikes because they are very similar in most regards and both are exceptionally good anyway.

Erm… Explorer mirrors on the Rally Pro?… How comes?

Also have you checked the tire pressures for accuracy, write interested in that little product for my GT Pro.

I don't think the Rally has sold very well though, so there are some very good deals (on both models, but especially the Rally).

The blue is a very popular colour on the GT (it's what I have), seems strange to dump a popular colour but I'm sure Triumph marketing team know what they are doing.

I still think the matt green on the Rally is the best colour though.

    10. I love my Rally Pro and also chose it for many of the reasons you mentioned. The many good reviews of its good road handling despite the 21" front helped me as well plus I knew I would be doing quite a bit of light off road riding… L.A. roads aren't the best either.

I bought the triumph TPM when I bought the bike and will have them installed first time I get new tires.

I am only 5'10" and have a 32" inseam. I ride mine with the standard seat and height (dealer threw in a heated drivers seat as well). I can just flat foot it in the low position. I had minor knee surgery a couple months before buying the bike and my knees are more comfortable in the higher position.

I have had it out a couple times a month since I bought it end of sept and have never been cold or uncomfortable (with Klim Latitude set). I need to pick up one of those seat covers for the summer.

edit: Oh, and I removed my rear foot pegs. They were just in the way and I will never ride this bike with a passenger.

    11. I have the GT Explorer and have done 20,000 miles on it, including a number of tours. I love it. Significant improvement on the previous generation.
For me it is a choice between a right decision and a right decision. I am 6'2'' and it fits me perfectly with the seat in the high position.
Fabulous bikes, whichever one you decide upon.
