This is a video of our self guided cycling holiday in Portugal with baggage transfer. It was booked through Saddle Skeddadle in the UK and taken care of in Portugal by their partner company Ciclonatur.

We cycled through the remote and beautiful eastern border betweenPortugal and Spain. Riding on quiet country roads we explored thistraditional region, taking in its natural beauty and experienced its Roman and medieval history.

Travelling from south to north, you’ll skirted the Spanish border
passing through white villages built around medieval castles that
once served as outposts to guard against the Spanish invasions.

Our cycling started in Marvão and followed narrow country
roads meandering through a stunning granite landscape.
Highlights along the way included the Tejo river and its imposing
gorge at Vila Velha de Rodao, Monsanto once considered the
“most Portuguese village of Portugal”, medieval Sortelha and the
fortified village of Almeida – a jewel of the 18th century, where we
stayed in a beautiful Pousada as a fitting end to this wonderful trip.
