You probably noticed that Liverpool were much better in the second half against Man City this weekend but did you notice it had a lot to do with Joe Gomez Liverpool played their regular 433 shape but in possession they pushed Connor Bradley forward to try and work overloads around Nathan a the rest of

Liverpool’s Defenders formed a back three and look to move the ball through City’s press but because City’s press is quite aggressive Liverpool generally kept a couple of midfielders deeper to help retain possession and to protect against counters if they lost it however this caused a gap to open out between

The Midfield and attacking lines which meant if they were forced to go more direct in buildup City could win the ball back comfortably and so after City scored clot made an important tweak getting Joe Gomez to invert into Midfield in possession although this made Liverpool more open at the back it

Allowed them to push a midfielder further forward putting them in a better position to counter press higher up the pitch all of which enabled them to play more directly without completely losing control and so Liverpool’s second half dominance was achieved through Joe Gomez

    1. Honestly Liverpool stomped City in the second half. Haven't seen them be that dominated in a while. Too bad for LFC Luis Diaz is so mediocre this season

    2. Pickford, Ramsdale, Johnstone

    3. He played CDM a couple games back he is becoming a Swiss army knife like James Milner . I would love to see him start for England and also retire with Liverpool
