Here we have for sale our stunning Ducati 996SPS. Our UK, 2 owner example was registered in September 1999, has had just four owners and has covered just 12,440 miles from new. The bike has just undergone an extensive recommissioning at JHP Coventry over the past 12 months and now sits in unmarked condition and sporting Foggy Replica Livery which the previous owner commissioned JHP to arrange. The invoice showing a total spend with JHP of £3,350 is included.
The bike is number 763 of the limited production run and is fitted with the Termignoni exhaust system, carbon air pipes, carbon front mudguard, rear hugger, chain guard, exhaust guards, tank protector, heel guards and carbon swingarm protection. Also included is a crate containing a lot of the original parts) The bike has also had new tyres and a S&F spider clutch fitted and is supplied with the full Ducati book pack including service book, owners manual, two keys, paddock stand and a selection of paperwork including the original bill of sale, numerous old MOT certificates and service receipts.
The 996SPS suffix stood for ‘Sport Production Special’. The engine was the same as the one used in the 916SPS but the weight was cut down considerably. The 996SPS produced around 124 bhp, more than the standard 996. The special SPS engine was much stronger than anything that Ducati had produced for the track. To ensure a distance was held between the standard 996 and the 996SPS Ducati designed a much higher specification chassis. The wheels were a five spoke design but were lighter than the standard three spoke design and in 1999 the rear shocks were made by high quality Swedish suspensions manufacturer, Öhlins with Showa front forks.
