What is going on everybody, this is TGA, and in today’s video, we’re at Oxford Train Station, where we meet a security guard who initially doesn’t know the rules, a train driver who doesn’t like being filmed, so puts his jacket out the window of the train to hide, and other barrier guards and a BTP PCSO who are fantastic.

Right what is going on everybody it’s TJ Oxford train station today we’re going to get a platform ticket we got a station hello how you doing oh you surve yeah I thought so got some work going on don’t you now then we’re going to make the

Money on this video cuz Park is bloody extor it see what’s happening here never been haven’t really been into Oxford Before It’s gwr Great Western Railway again Oxford An ox bike 350 per day rent an ox bike really trying to discourage cars in Oxford it Seems see if we got any platform tickets around here’s the main entrance there we go oxf for train station where’s the ticket office too gwr staff here oh btp are already there so there’s transport police there we go this the ticket office here information desk ticket machines ticket office is up this

Way so I think the only place you can get a platform ticket is from the main desks see if there’s any platform tickets available hi have you got any platform tickets available sorry platform tickets the 10p ones platform tickets okay yeah we we don’t we don’t

Do them here they are they are supposed to be Network rail’s website they’re supposed to be available at every station I’ve been to other gwr stations Temple Ms uh well that’s Network rail but Swindon Swindon station’s got them available it’s a gwr station so it should be available the 10p platform

Normally you need to get clearance from our PR department before you can do this I haven’t seen anything about that cuz I’ve I’ve been on Network rail’s website it says it’s all okay as long as you long as you’re not focus it on cameras or anything like that you’re all right doing

It okay just private um private and personal use yeah yeah yeah that’s always there we go how you doing com not too bad anything interesting yeah we doing the trains we uh got a platform ticket nice haven’t seen one of those for a long time still do oh P

A safe distance obviously as long as there safe distance from the track absolutely yeah cuz I know it could interfere with TR where would you be planning on doing CU if you going to launch from the platform oh no no no just just from outside on the Public Public foot pathside absolutely

Um yeah you’re well within your rights to do it just as long as obviously there’s no abely drivers can get a bit jumpy when they see yeah I’ll keep make sure it’s a safe distance away nice height take it up high just lock down and then

Long as you follow the main routes out of the city then you’re not in the emission zone so you don’t worry about that I hav’t seen anything like that before they charge all petrol and diesel vehicles it’s rare it’s money SC isn’t it even the UL even us my my vehicle’s

UL compliance so I can just I could drive into most of London without getting charged but if I went into the center congestion charge I have to pay that I’m surprised Oxford’s got it cuz it’s not exactly like they’re imposing on a few of the bigger cities now aren’t

They Manchester’s got one Liverpool’s getting one Manchester’s actually under review still but it’s it’s a bit like the London one like the ulos it’s not really it’s not a uh direct you’ve got a diesel vehicle or petrol vehicle so you got to pay it’s if your vehicle certain

Age comes within it is it eur3 or something like that I we have to pay £15 for the car park why is it so expensive that’s set by AA it’s not it’s not by the railway so there we go yeah £15 for the day and we were only people parking that but then

Right especially in this part of the world um but yeah you get various different market for dogs for traffic for firearms firearms a little fiveo star the yeah um I think most of it’s on Wikipedia anyway to be fair it’s quite interesting though but yeah so so you if

It was obviously your rail related so something would happen on the rail always I know there’s quite a lot of theft that goes on around the tracks so you got people breaking cutting the fence line getting on a nicking wire from the side of the ites side of the

Tracks um but yeah obviously the whole thing with everything that’s on the roof is just so that if for any job we do have a helicopter up anything like that so they can recognize you identified from from the air as well fantastic um see that one’s a little bit older so

That one was before we started putting the uh all right cuz I normally see British transport police vehicles like that folks there there was one packed up at snd and there just standard standard old like that yeah so a lot of offices do have just cars it just depends on the type of

Area that you’re in so because we cover a lot of rural o of year we tend to get the bigger cars yeah so you can respond across well it be it’s ground clearance more than anything anywhere anywhere real related some parts of the track are quite isolated though so it’s going to

Be the terrain’s got to be quite difficult to get out to to be honest yeah you know we have times we have to go up into areas like haford chalary things like that obviously North Oxford here is very miles out yeah very green very green so there are times when you

When it’s there’s not a proper Road when you have to go literally down a track or to be able to respond to an incident on the railway I’ve not had to personally um cuz obviously to take a vehicle down the tracks there’s there’s a lot of boxes that have to be ticked

First as it were of course and um but yeah we we get all over the place oh people think that you’re just Railway police you haven’t got really that much going on but really there’s there’s quite a lot of crime that takes place on the railways really it depends

On the day it really does um off the as a as a rule isn’t always too bad um but it really it depends on the day it depends on the week guessing people like trespass on the tracks has been quite a common um trespass does happen a fair bit

Um again it does depend on the area people think sometimes they could just cut across they just walk across over the railway tracks yeah they think they’re in India yeah think it’s literally you got live you got a live line and people people going oh get over

There it’s not too bad around here in terms of most of the Railway that that we cover in our area is quite well secured um and we don’t have the issue of having third rail over headlines anything like that it’s mostly diesel up in Oxford here still it’s still if somebody was to

Go onto the railway trucks there still a major haard so um yeah definitely definitely still dangerous I think I don’t know where it was but I think there was an incident somewhere where there was a car that literally drove straight onto the trucks yes yes there was that was middle of

Last year um that was up near kidlington where you up this area yeah um and that would have halted operations for quite some time I’d imagine to be able to remove the car for one and then yeah so yeah the the one up in kington unfortunately the car did get hit by

Train yeah the line was for quite a while but and that would have disrupted people obviously people go use the railways to get to work people got to get to the destinations they got relatives to visit people could be going to education and all that’s disrupted because someone’s

Taking a silly decision to go and drive the vehicle onto the trucks yeah it’s it’s an unfortunate thing that we do everything that we can to avoid to prevent you know we the hot spots for it we will take especially that one cuz it’s daylow yellow at the

Front um and we’ll go sit it up by one of the cross in um access nice ter yeah definitely somebody’s not going to just turn barriers barriers come up somebody just turns the car onto the track then that’s that could someone could easily do that

Um but yeah you know we we’ve got a lot of things that that we can do to try and to try and deter to try and prevent policy end of the day we going to keep people safe exactly um yeah I’m sure that’s the main priority with a well because there’s

People who have also tried jumping off Bridges and trying to I know it is a sad topic but yeah we um we we do go out to quite a few mental health gos um they are a very unfortunate reality of the Railway um it’s not anything that any of us like

Recently a video done where someone was speaking to one of the 10 Valley police uh drone unit team and the drones that they’ve got are amazing amazing bits they got the tree DJ I’ve seen some of them cuz I um I’ve seen the ones that South Wales police have got a drone unit

As well yeah I’ve seen their drones I saw a video where West Midland’s drone you they’ve got about they’ve got like a matrice they’ve got some of the um proper Ked out drones we we’re trying to introduce more drones on our area at the moment it’ be useful for especially

Spotting things out on the track they’re they’re really really really vital bits of Kit um end of the day if we’ve got a drone on board we can use we can get a drone up quicker than we can get a helicopter up absolutely and you got thermal imaging

On the Drone a lot of them do yeah btp not got a drone section drone we do have drones um just none local to here at the moment although one of my I believe one of my colleagues is potentially going on a drones for so so so it might drones

Might be introduced to this this btp area anyway yeah you are a National Force so it’s exctly that we we’ve got just about every resource you can think of it’s just a matter of where they are yeah um unfortunately they’re not always the closest it’s the trouble of trying to

Cover the whole country is it where they got the Operational Support down in London because they might have a I know the Operational Support units down there I don’t whether the Drone team’s down in London at all um in all honesty exactly where every drone team is I can’t recall

Off the top of my head um around this area if we do need one we tend to ask for 10 Valley police to assist us yeah they bring out they have a lot of drones they they cover a large area T Valley police do anyway massive got barkshire Oxfordshire

Buckinghamshire U not sure where else it’s kind of yeah I mean you they have a slow New Oxford milk keed absolutely massive um but it is quite nice because it means if I have to go down to to reading or up to milk ke I’m talking to the same people so it’s

Mainly so mainly with btp you sort of have areas that your team tends to cover rather than supporting nationally with other parts around other parts of the country dayto day yeah um we will get sent other places for major events um you i’ I’ve covered like CH races which is nowhere near

Oxford um yeah we we get all over the place is it have a lot of obviously for the races you don’t have a lot of people going off chham Spa there they get drunk don’t they champag they can do yeah yeah that’s a that’s a b offense to

Be drunk on the railway isn’t it uh yes thought so I have read the railway bylaws and know I know a fair few of them I know a lot I probably don’t know but yeah there’s there’s a lot of them but they’re useful helps us keep the railway

And safe did you get training on it then on the bylaws or yeah so we’ll get an input on the bylaws um we all use them dayto day um in all fairness BS five and six are probably the ones that you’ll see use the most being drunk on the

Railway and any kind of unacceptable Behavior yeah that’s sort of similar similar to bylaw six is similar to like public order really isn’t it yeah tends to be lower level you know if if somebody hasn’t reached the threshold for for a public order offence or where

We can reasonably call it a public if somebody could be coming across as being a bit abusive to staff like somebody starts having a heated argument with stuff and that that could technically be the that could be that would be B 6 if somebody yeah ex exactly that um

And if if staff decide that they don’t necessarily want to pursue anything then it’s easy enough for us still use the bylaws and we can remove someone from the rail yeah it’s it’s ejection if they refuse then they could be they could be charged with an offense so the summons

To the magistrates would it be if if somebody would persisted to remain on the station after they’ directed into the yeah um there’s yeah there’s a number of ways that things can be dealt with depending on what’s reasonable what’s reasonable and what’s proportionate cuz I had I had

A an officer from btp who was saying we were committing a bylaw bylaw six offense for standing there because they said we’re dealing with dealing with a a young man you but he was you know he’s obviously not a minor cuz he was there smoking for a start M and he was saying

Oh if you film him that’s by the by law six and we’re stood a safe distance away we’re not exactly going up intimidating anyone we’re sred about what like say over there and he’s he’s down there I mean without being there I I can’t speak for that um
