The 2024 Milano Sano delivered a thriller heart pounding unknown until the last seconds on the Via Roma no it was not tat pachar no it was not Matthew Vanderpool but vanderpool’s alason dunic teammate yasper philipsson the Belgian beat Michael Matthews and pachar in a reduced group Sprint after a tense final

10 kilometers yasper philipson Welcome to The Monuments Club one year after Vanderpool this year his teammate pulled off Victory the world champion Vanderpool in his 2024 season debut made sure that philipsson was placed for the Sprint after marking pachar and unable to attack solo himself philipson after

The race said it’s incredible one of my dreams one of the dreams of any cyclist to win here to be a sprinter and to Win It it’s incredible it makes me really proud and happy especially after the lead out I got from Matthew Vanderpool the nearly 300 kilomet race came down to

A small group Sprint of elite Riders t pachar Team UA Emirates had tried over the pojo to attack free tried twice matate moric of byan Victorious tried at the base of the Descent then Mato saero he surprised us the team Bora henso Ridder went free Tom pitcock followed him

But Vanderpool brought it all back for Sprint and philipsson delivered philipsson added it was a fast race all day but I was feeling good all the time I believed in myself but everything had to go to Perfection I managed to come back I wasn’t used to sprinting after

300 kmet and I could feel the difference I didn’t expect Michael Matthews to be that good but I’m glad that I managed to beat him the race after 288 km 6 hours and 15 minutes in the saddle the fastest in history for the Riders 46.1 km an hour average the last fastest

The one at beat was back in 1990 when Johnny buo won all of our attention this morning was on tat pachar of Team UA Emirates winner of three other monuments le bestone le theur Flanders and IL lombardia he won strata bian in his season debut two weeks ago with an 81 km

Solo attack and today he raced for the second time in the season and out for the fourth of five monuments and we also focused on the other star favorite Matthew Vanderpool team alason dunic we saw the Dutchmen in pavilla at the start for the first time in his world championship

Stripes winner in Glasgow last fall and after winning the cycle cross World Championships this winter starting his 2024 Road campaign in addition to the stripes he had the number one on his back as the 2023 winner it was hard to look elsewhere frankly other than those two pachar and Vanderpool perhaps over

To mads pson of Team Leal Trek the D’s been going so well so far this early season and supported by a strong team including former sreo winner yasper stuen and maybe mate moric the former winner they would all come out and play we’d see them all in the final early on

In the day was 10 men that dominated the TV time three Riders from Team py three from quch and two from bani all small Italian teams we although waited for the climb of Torino and the nervous Coastline that would follow it was going to be there that one of Italy’s biggest

Classics would be fought absolute Warfare attacks counterattacks over the Tre cppy especially the third one Capal Bera and for sure the final two climbs of Chessa and pojo the Berta following a crash that we saw eliminated Kristoff leaport of Team visma Lisa bike and then Alexander Kristoff of Team Uno X and

Remember he won here 10 years ago back in 2014 visma without leport though kept charging ahead with Olaf Koy who was on a ripper of a debut in the race then there was team Ino and Leal Trek doing so well as teams and riding at the front

UAE put its plan into place for pachar Doan Novak had been hammering hard Alexandro kovy 2 at 26.9 km out on the chess of 5.6 km long with a Max of 9% EF and inos led into it but Isaac Doro put his Mexican muscle to work for Tat

Pachar the group was in bits it eased up then Belgian Tim wellins hit again UAE team Emirates Rider this is what I liked team UAE Emirates putting its plan into place it needed to hit all the rivals hard in the mines and in the legs if

Pachar was to have a chance with an attack on the chaea and if not on the pojo and who knows maybe in the Sprint pachar lives in Monaco just down the road from San Remo he’d been training on the roads in recent days he didn’t sense his chance on the Chessa but look

Forward to the pojo climb leadle again led the race wrapped up the Escape passing one of the Riders who’ crashed a movie star Rider if pogar looked around besides Litt Trex matz Pon there was Vanderpool with teammate philipsson pitock with Gana bam geret Fred Wright with his teammate morit Alberto betal

Who just won Milano Torino and the second division team of tutor with Matteo Trenton and they led the race onto the pojo the final climb of the day pogacha was ready he moved up following the absolute Hammer pace of teammate Tim wellin he goes the Reverb of the pojo

Attack could be felt down the coast in Monaco 6.5 km to race 1 km to the top pogach Char’s move ripped the the group but Vanderpool betal and Ghana were able to hold on then a regrouping stuen took up the pace it looked to be over then

Pachar launched again 300 meters to the top this time he had a gap Vanderpool had to launch his own attack to come to terms with pachar before the leftand turn and The Descent of the pojo one of the most iconic and crazy descents in cycling after all that buildup it came

Down to this descent and the two km of flat stretch leading into San Remo pogacha punched the pace upwards on The Descent pitock flew down the hill pass Ghana to catch pachar and Vanderpool morick who won with a daredevil descent a few years back launched but at the

Base of the Descent and he wasn’t able to get enough space Matteo saero the Italian AB Bora Hans gry surprised us he launched a move and you know it looked like the type of move that would be ignored by the stars and perhaps be given it SP bace but Tom pitock jumped

On it and there for a moment it seemed that Pitcock the world champion mountain biker and winner on the altoz in the Tour of France would go on to Victory but this is Milan Remo tension stress the buildup before heading into the unknown and that final burst of Joy but

Who who would win on the Via Roma the big white bullet of Matthew Vanderpool in the rainbow of world champion was pulling behind he caught Tom Pitcock for his teammate in denim philipsson who set a few wheels back behind Sten and behind mads pson of Le Trek behind Michael

Matthews third already twice and sreo who had hitched her right up to pavilla for the start of the race with t pachar it wasn’t to be for those two instead philipsson after two stage wins in the tur of France the Belgian raced in the shadow of his Superstar teammate but

Would shine on the Via Roma pogacha impressively saved himself on the flats for the Sprint and finished third behind Matthews we wonder what could have been for all of those Riders but mainly for T pachar he tried his attacks and spent so much energy on The Descent and then

Still pulled off a decent Sprint there in San Remo pachar after the race in little press huddle said I had really good legs today but to finish on the podium beside Michael mat Matthews and yasper philipson I can be happy also it was an elite group of sprinters of the

Attacking and the moves he said it was a good plan we executed it almost to Perfection but in cycling you can almost never get a perfect plan it appears T pachar is not giving up on Milano s Remo he added we changed this race in the

Last few years we’re trying to make it work but it’s hard to execute to Perfection every year we put more work into it more percent and I think in the next years we can do it better the Slovenian will be back for the Volta catalunia and then we’ll see him again

In the one-day race Li bone Li and then finally in May when he’s going for the jro Talia make sure you’re subscribed click the button down below so you’re not missing out any of the race coverage highlights and all the behind the-scenes footage that we have coming up over the

Next few weeks next week on Friday mark it on your calendar live for all of our viewers in Canada we have the E3 then on Sunday gent wev gam that’s live for our viewers in the US Canada and Australia Vanderpool will be back in those races

Looking for win number one of the 2024 season on the road but it’ll be facing his longtime rival Walt vanart of Team visma Lisa bike then in the weeks ahead the next monuments the tour of Flanders and Perry Ru but tonight it’s all about the celebration he’ll be celebrating

Along with philipson and the rest of the aoson dunic team for what was a fast thrilling and Victorious 2024 Milano s rmo

    1. Pogi gave his all great attacks, but Cipressie was missing one more midfielder from the team UAE so he can go on the attack.Congratulations to Philipsen it was clear that, despite the rivalry, all three on the podium had a good relationship with each other.

    2. It seems to me it's always Tadej versus a team? Just like in the tour, it's a stacked deck against him. Not making excuses but it's the way it is. Still did an outstanding job for all the anarchy going into the sprint. Jasper is a world class sprinter so it's to be expected. What an exciting fast paced race! 👍🏻🚴🏼‍♀️💯

    3. I just disagree that MvdP couldn't have attacked on his own. He was out of position when Tadej attacked for the second time and he had to close an enormous gap, which he did very quickly and I think had he been glued to Tadej's wheel all of that power would have seen him surge past Tadej at the top of the Poggio just like last year.

    4. The thing I don’t get in this race is Luke Plapp : he raced with a skin suit with no pockets and no race numbers pinned on. Isn’t that last fact illegal and wouldn’t you need regular feeds in a ~300km race? Can anyone confirm if Luke had a DQ for this race or a fine for not wearing his numbers?

    5. UAE team needs to improve. They need not only climbers but riders that can be strong and fast. MVDP knew couldn’t win as run out of power after closing the gap and containing the group for Jasper to arrive

    6. naahhhm UAE failed. Pogacar got third despite average team performance. They burned their matches too soon.
They could not pull long and not enough speed, Wellens already pulled at first climb and was needed at the Poggio.
Pogocar is a nice guy and will not burn his team mates in post race interview but the truth is that Pogacar showed his absolute class and his team mates delivered an average performance.
