Highlights of the 2014 Junior Tour of Ireland cycling, as broadcast on TG4, Setanta Ireland, Premier Sports UK and Irish TV – featuring Eddie Dunbar’s attempt to become the first rider in history to win the race twice.

Irish cycling on TV, from Irish Sports Network.

The 2014 junior tour of Ireland 85 of the best cyclists from Europe and the United States battling for one of the great prizes in this age group nobody has won this Trophy twice before Eddie dunar took it last as of first year and is looking this time around to make

History talk you through the week is K Lynch so indeed stage one here time trial 6.2 km and the first Rider off of about 60 or so con macony of Lucan sets off on the 6.2 km time trial as he accelerates out of the saddle very

Very important that they wind it up here and Alex bumpers there of Williams Racing sets off a very varied course here along the ciser road so the drag you can see the Riders out of the saddle here trying to put the power down it’s all about consistency here in the

Opening time trial that’s what it’s about for the Riders here darl long of the Nicholas roach performance team coming through the shot just as he CRS the top of this climb here beautiful shots of the Riders remember no time trial bikes for this particular stage it’s onto the road bikes for the Riders

So it’s Matthew tager there also of the Nicholas roach performance team takes a quick glance at the camera here and one of the hot tubes Riders it’s uh Ethan Reynolds again number eight there just accelerating up towards the top of that bend there so in the picture is Simon

Tumi of Ivor produce Carrick wheelers a very very strong team down there and in the picture here is Jack MX of hot tubes likely to finish up very very well a welcome contingent over here the clear Rider in picture is Carl Cohen who will likely go on to produce a

Fine time great to see The Young Riders here and great Irish National presence amongst the Riders as well now wearing the national time trial Champion colors it’s defending Champion Eddie Dunbar number one a rider who won last year by 2 and A2 minutes can he achieve the same

Today look at that magnificent position once again on the nose of the saddle driving the gears here hands on the hoods but getting as Arrow as possible look at the chin right down towards the stem here and it’s on the big ring now taking the win is none other than

Michael oan of the Irish team so a bit of a turnaround there Eddie Dunbar expected to perform well indeed he does Michael you’re in yellow after the opening day uh it couldn’t have gone much better for you I guess then yeah exactly and I was hoping for a top 10

Maybe at start of the day but uh kind of when I started my warmup I was thinking you know I have good legs here now I’m maybe a top five and uh like I was very surprised to hear that I went fastest you know after it all but uh it was a

Hard day it was windy it was something that suited me now so I I really didn’t really enjoy it but I’m happy to have the other Jersey now yeah because when you’re out in the road you can only imagine how well you’re doing but there’s no indication in a race like

This there’s nobody your telling you yeah you just have to keep leaving like that sometimes I just motivate Myself by telling myself that someone’s going faster than you’re here like so I always try and push push push you know so um but we have no motivation from earphones

Or R like that so it’s all self motivation that kind of way then and considering where you’re from which is Carrick I was cycling is in the blood obviously has to be yeah well my father cyes and the great Sean Kelly is from car and Shore and we have a great

There’s a great Club in car and sure as well so I’ve been RAR well so hoping to do it I’m proud couldn’t have gone much better for you not really I mean could have gone faster but it was a good day I mean we flew in yesterday so you know uh

Legs are tired but it was a good day so we have six more days so we’re pumped so victory in the opening stage to the first year Michael O Lin from carore representing team Ireland 10 seconds clear of K Cohen with D no bran third Jack manx the United States fourth Simon

Tumy 5ifth and last year’s Champion Eddie dbar in sixth place stage two 116 km starting and ending in NIS taking in the Cliffs of Mo and the northern coast so stage two indeed outside the start area which is Tracy’s West County Hotel here in Enis the Lucen stag cycle

Support car and the mechanics going through the bikes making sure that all the gears are working and many of the Riders who formerly been associated with the race working on the race indeed Ed dunar right at at the head of Affairs the comm’s car also right at the front

Of the race there Michael Olan resplendant in yellow he’ll be delighted to take that and right from the gun as expected there are attacks stepen Murphy there trying to make out the number number 39 Steven Murphy it is that goes from the gun with Mato Gomez

And Dara of the Irish team and right on the front as expected Edie Donar defending Champion looking to take that Gap back he’s working with Jonathan Brown there the American national champion the stars and stripes dunar on the front been marked no doubt by Brown well advised by the team manager at

Every opportunity watch dunar this is a special talent right at the front there also you can see some of the Irish Riders perhaps setting Tempo michaelan under instruction as well talk to the guys make sure they’re at the front of the race don’t let anything up the road

To area so one of the Castle Bar Riders here k Cohen who was second in the individual time Tri trying to take advantage of the motorbikes and no better motorbike than Eddie donbar up at the head of the race Brown working up and over with them as well look at the

Different styles bigger stronger more powerful r at Brown there at the head of the race Dunbar doing up and over minding himself getting advice then from the motorbike there flicks his right elbow time to come through Mr Brown number nine there going to work up and over

These are champions of the future let me tell you Eddie dbar back from a disappointing European championships the week before but he is the same Irish team around him now right at the head of the race 1 2 3 4 five of the hot tubes Riders as Donar begins to put the power

Down we’re in and around the Cliffs of moh at this stage and look at Brown shoulders dipping a little bit elbows out Dumar would be looking for any signs of weakness but dbar oh he’s working his way forward takes a glance around the right hand shoulder that’s it time to

Move on slipped it into another gear and the Powerhouse that is Ellie dbar rolls his shoulders but he’s moving forward now towards the top of the climb and ready to pass some support there number one on the bike and number one on the road Eddie dbar passes the crest of the

Climb now you can see the neutral support car in behind and quite a distance at this stage back to the American champ Jonathan Brown a beautiful beautiful day as well for the race here our hands on the hoods again and some talk about him being on

One of the vital Bikes their supplier to the onus Chain Reaction team we can see the bike here Sean Kelly production model as they’re passing through the countryside here Dumar on his way back in now at the moment and coming through the bridge here Dumber has quite a gap at this

Stage very very draggy sort of Roads along here and once again the hot tubes team this stage Jonathan Brown is back in the bunch looks as if some of the Nicholas roach performance team Riders there are at the head of the race but uh signs perhaps that they’ve given up

They’re they’re not strung out at this stage as would be expected and you can see the Riders simply sitting up the Chase isn’t on maybe they’re talking to Michael Olan and he’s certainly not going to be willing to chase at this stage so Olan well positioned up at the

Head of the race with some of the Irish Riders Dary and Steven Shanahan are there also to help him so simply setting the pace but up ahead look at dunar pressing on the beautiful position hands down on the drops and let’s see when he goes to the hoods there because his back

Shouldn’t move he’s in such a comfortable position here and there you go similarly hands on the hoods look at the angle of the arms there at about 90° or so like I say straight down onto the drops changing position all the time and always drinking and eating small amount

And very often is the trick in an event like this you don’t want to get the knock once you have the knock it’s simply going to be time lost so this is something that dbar has been so so good at last year and indeed this year in the

Junior ranks very very focused and it’s simply a long time trial at this stage for Dunbar he’s been out so so long remember early on at the stage working with Jonathan Brown the American national champion and the Gap going out now perhaps 2 three minutes or so and

We’re beginning to see Ryan Riley of olster and Steven Shanahan there number three of Team Ireland Shanahan will be marking the wheels of any Riders going forward and that will improve the Irish team position so Dunbar speeding uphill once again magnificent style very much like Thomas vuler of Euro Car and also a

Mix of Kelly in there as well such an aggressive Rider right on the nose of the saddle as he presses forward constantly changing the position for himself so a top of the king of the mountains here at the Buren and once again Dunbar pressing on on his own

Beginning to get information from the team car as well the time Gap will have gone out and any change in the position behind such as the stall behind will be communicated so right over the top number one takes the king of the mountains points Eddie Donar no doubt

Securing a greater advantage in the king of the mountains category here remember today and 16 km or 7213 mil and once again Jonathan Brown very slight off the front there but just over the top of the crest now more advice is coming to Eddie dunar you’re

Up the road you’re riding into yellow a difficult position for his teammate Michael oakin already in yellow but not unexpected Donar has simply been so so strong this year and great support indeed from the team now dunar through the humpback Bridge the chasing field behind they’ll be told what the Gap is

At this stage remember it’s stage two and with such a fine Gap The Chase ing field coming through now one of the Nicholas roach performance Riders off of the front could well be the tall figure of Matt Matthew tager remember the riders that were up on stage one overall

Michael Alon took that first position Dylan o’r had taken third but taking the second stage 116 km none other than number one Eddie Dunbar of the Irish national team now chasing home for the field very very shortly and it looks as if it’s one of the Nicholas out

Riders indeed it is it’s Matthew tager takes the stage from Steven shanan of the Irish team Craig McCauley in Fort and Dylan O’Brien in fifth place congratulations from Alice shat the race organizer delighted for him there so well well done to all the team of the Irish team retaining the yellow Jersey

At the end of stage two dumbar relaxing afterwards and very very happy with this ride today so the balance of the field here well split up out the road remember a very rolling stage and when the pressure went on from dunar and brown earlier on rers going out the back the

Nicholas roach performance team winding down afterwards and the effect of a crash indeed not too much damage on but very hardly Riders Edie dunar takes the yellow Jersey once again Ted Crowley doing the MC Duty here at top the stage and also the other jerseys being awarded today the green points jersey

And a white jersey for the first year jym what an astonishing day for Eddie dunar 2 minutes 56 seconds ahead of the rest and that means dunar comfortably in the leaders yellow Jersey he holds a 2minute 35 advantage over his Ireland International teammate micheel Lin Eddie a considerable lead after day two did

You expect to do that no not really because uh it was there was a strong head window out when I was with um jonan I think on on the way out with the American F and uh the Gap is just ho at 50 seconds and uh when I got rid of him

On the Cliff of M I was expecting him to uh to be caught actually but uh I was going to sit up after the second K but the Gap actually went out so I decided just to keep going at a nice Pace I didn’t overdo it or anything so uh yeah

Just worked out and the Gap just kept going out so I’m fairly happy and what will the strategy be for tomorrow I’m not sure it depends it’s h it’s a tough day tomorrow so it should actually suit the team we have so there’s no reason why we can’t really hold on to Yellow

But uh there’s still a long week there yet so we see what happens thank you Craig King of the mountains did you expect to be up there um I hope to up there in the stage the mountains I would not really to be honest with it I mean

Said the game was just to try and stay safe and you know finish as far up the front as possible fact that finish the front group is nice and the mountains is a bonus really by default obviously CU Ed he was up the road all day but it’s

Nice to work it nonetheless so the second stage at sorry the second King of the hills the bar that was that was a long one yeah it was a long climb um with on for a while I mean to be honestly I thought it was harder than

The first climb although it was a lower calegory CL but they so that was the the set the SP the the goup that we in Split again it split first on the the second cat up the cliffs more and then I think it was Michael the yellow Jersey he rode

Very hard up the climb and um that split a bunch again so it split in half once again so Matthew your points leader after day two uh what’s it what was it like against that win today uh yeah it was a very hard stage and very windy

Especially like along the coast uh at the start it was more of a headwind and then turned into a crosswind as we came out along the coast both the climbs were very open and windy as well bit of a headwind and yeah the stage was very

Hard and it was aent as it split well up and did the stage pan out as we thought that Eddie dumbar would take like a big lead uh well I think we all expected Ed he’d have a go anyway we certainly expect him to have a go but uh he’s so

Strong and he went up the road I think it was only about 10 K in and uh dropped with another fell he was with American National Champion actually dropped him on the first KS and from there he’s just showed how strong he was and just rode

The whole thing on his own and P time mind of us there was no one really chasing behind there’s no one really fit to chase cuz uh his teammates were at the front you know sort of stall it and keeping an eye on things but uh certainly fully deserves it like for

Play them screw Hill the feature of stage three which starts in NIS and goes all the way to en so stage three 122 km taking the Riders from Enis to gour canara Corkscrew Hill which is going to be a category one Hill Gary mroy there talking to Mayor John

Crow ahead of the start nervous moments the flag is dropped and once again we’re on the road as you can hear the Riders get their shoes into their cleats Wexford wheelers support car none other than TSH lavry there former great cyclist himself and two great Sun cycling as

Well and one of them indeed a professional with the Synergy Baku team beautiful pictures here as the field rolls out in yellow Jersey there Eddie Dunbar sitting in second place right up at the head of Affairs now an early break away two Riders here one of them

From Monster sensea indeed both of them from Monster sensea Jack hickey and Steven Gilman working up and over and look at that position very very mature Rider and very forward on the sadle indeed now looks as if it’s one of the Nicholas roach performance team Riders

Number 32 is darl long who’s taken the decision to leave the bunch and try and make his way forward to the two leaders one of the hot tubes Riders at the front marked by a team Ireland Rider and indeed in fourth place one of the Irish Riders so Dary Steven Shanahan and

Indeed Michael oan right up at the head of Affairs as the two Riders working up and over there number 71 one at the front is Jack hickey a style indeed very like Brian mccristal who was up in the National Road Race championships the senior event but simply a Powerhouse

Look at that concentration as darl long adopts a position we see a lot of the professionals do not a fan of it myself I have to say no major control over the bike he’s been reeled in by the bunch now and the bunch being led uh at this

Stage it could be some of the Irish Riders just marking the moves the two Riders were working well up ahead their Gap going out at this stage to over 2 minutes quite a substantial Gap expect the Irish team to appear at the head of the race now because certainly Eddie

Dunbar will be looking to keep tabs indeed they are so Sat one two there that’s Dary and Eddie dunar at the front along with the hot tubes team looking to protect the position of their best place Riders on General classification so the Riders working up and over they’re still leading into

County gallway here the race about to come through Gort and the Riders looking very very fresh I have to say at this stage here as we sweep through Gort and left through the square here great racing here great race management as well Alice shat and her team the commissaires the motor Marshals

The Gia cona and all the work that goes into it with the local authorities as well kvara now pressing on and right at the front here the two Riders still powering on the Gap beginning to come down I expect as they’re beginning to Tire here you can see the neutral

Service car and in the picture is kale Cohen in the bunch as they’re speeding downhill now at this stage kale Cohen indeed one who should appear more this week uh the rider who placed second in the time trial Michael Alan of course of the Irish team taking first place and

The first yellow Jersey of the race now more attacks here for from the Riders and it’s one of the Williams team Riders it’s Alex bumpers here another one of the American teams over expecting to do big things uh this week and indeed some word that the American Riders are

Really going to put it up to the Irish Riders and so far we haven’t seen that now two riders that are out the front here they’ve been out quite a while Steven Gilman and Jack hickey as they Crest this climb here now it looks as if it’s Gilman going to

Lead here and hickey trying to stay on the wheel a lot of work for the big Rider Jack Gilman here just trying to set Pace set Tempo you can see the neutral service car and also the support car there for the monster sensor team delighted to have two Riders indeed they

Quite a number in this race last year and they’re producing really really fine Riders indeed Eddie Dunbar himself one of the Riders from the monster region so the two Riders pressing on although word coming through that the bunch are beginning to Peg back the time of them

And it’s the team Ireland Riders sitting at the front there looks as if it’s the big tall figure of Michael llin indeed it is now Gilman and hickey are about to be caught by Bunch Eddie Dunbar sitting in second place very very comfortable just keeping an eye on the Riders up the

Road indeed he does know these Riders from Monster knows them very very well now a bit of a break here and it looks as if it’s Kevin Hayes of the monster sensor team a small Gap at this stage 50 m will he press forward or indeed will

Any other Riders come across to him like nient shots of the countryside here the rider spread right across the road and through the burn landscape in second place there Eddie Dunbar right at the head of the race where he needs to be coming in towards the end of the stage here magnificent

Shots as they pan across the burn here and some of the Riders looks as if it’s the cycling olster Riders at this stage trying to uh put the pace on Dunbar sitting right towards the head of the race but the Nicholas roach performance team Riders right up at the head of

Affairs also as the Riders begin to string out it looks as if it’s all together again and neutralized indeed for short time one of the Stag lukan Riders there in the picture the monster Sensa Riders back in the pack and the lener Riders indeed and you can see the speed is up here

Speeds in excess at this stage probably 50 55 km an hour on the flat Riders will be certainly doing 38 uh to 40 km an hour will be the average speed for the week here and the camera shots just at the rear of the bunch now 65 kale con

Sitting at the back of the pack something we’ve seen already one of the lster Riders waving at the camera there is Connor kavana as he makes his way back up on the left hand side now could be a mechanical for one of the Riders there as he raises his hand either mechanical

Or looking for food or drink from the team car as many of the Riders here making the way back on you can see spread across the road and so where the Riders aren’t spinning it means that the speed is simply down up at the uh head of the

Race if we can say that the rider’s turning left here and certainly the speed is down for the moment now that may mean it’s all back together again remember it’s only stage three Eddie Dunbar in the yellow Jersey and after yesterday he is quite a significant Gap

Nearly up to 3 minutes at this stage so approaching another one of the climbs here and looks as if it’s the ascent of Castle Hill very very difficult Ascent for the Riders here remember it’s a category one climb so the pressure beginning to be put on the Nicholas roach performance team Riders

Right up at the the head of the race marking Eddie Dunbar and Dunbar putting the hammer down and using his Irish teammates as well you can see Michael O loin in the white jersey sitting at about sixth place at the moment Dary there as well Steven Shanahan they’ll be

Well briefed and they’ve put in a bit of a gap at this stage you can see there’s about 10 Riders are out at the head of Affairs here so dbar marking the whe Steven shanan as well Nichols roach performance team the hot tues rider sitting up there again small

Representation at this stage the Irish team completely in the break here look and expect them to dominate so one of the Riders going for the drag at that stage there up Castle Hill a very small group left at this stage another 15 riders or so passed through the shot so

Now the hammer is down and they’re going to work their way in towards the finish here the selection could well have been made and expect indeed Eddie Dunbar sitting up at the head of the race now the Sprint coming on for the finish here

And it’s a small group of about 15 or so going for the line it’s the green jersey one of the l Road performance team Riders glances around his right on shoulder it’s Matt tager takes it from Steven Shanahan and Jonathan Brown of the hot tubes team taking third place on

The stage now the bunch really Racing for the spoils at this stage but they’ll be well down GC has been rejigged again Eddie Dunbar will be delighted with that yeah yeah it was tough St now uh I think that’s was sort of the queen stage of the junior tour like the four big

Main claims the two cat ones but uh I felt that got over them all right go uh M quite hard over both Hills and got a gap and uh I think it was about 20 of us and we started riding really hard there over the last climb and just held it off

To the finish and uh I did as much as I could roll through and for the last few K just sort of sat in and you have a decent off Sprint after being second yesterday so lucky enough uh P off after a great lead out from few of my

Teammates as well so yeah really pleased with the win Well Jack you and Steven Gilman had the break of the day it wasn’t a winning break in the end but you were out for a long time uh yeah it was good um it was planned for me to go

And then Steven was on my wheel when I went and came with me we’re hoping a couple more come across or do something to light up the race a bit but they let us just hang out for a while and just sat off the front and had no legs when

It went to the hill and that was about it yeah was pretty steady up until the well it was cork screw really that was just kind of the leg opener for today and then when it kind of got into duel and onto Castle Hill uh I had a bit of a

Dig up there and split the group and uh took the Koh and then there was just about a group of 10 of us and all 40 Irish Riders were in it so we just worked worked very well and just kept working to the finish so in the green

Jersey Matthew tuer takes the stage into NIS Diamond ahead of Steven Shanahan in the bunch Sprint but look how high Eddie Dunbar was again he was in that Breakaway Group which means he maintains his Advantage at the top over the rest a pictures stage that starts man Shannon

And finishes 5 km up the road but there’s another 110 to be added to that also so into Stage four8 km from Mount Shannon to White gate and the cam before the storm Eddie Dunbar in the yellow Jersey once again the Riders taking an opportunity to denote the climbs on the course the

Distances and they’ll simply fix the tape to the stem or the top tube depending on which and as they pass them they know exactly what they’ve got ahead of them on the left hand side there Michael oan in the white jersey firste Junior in the yellow Eddie Dunbar and

Let’s see if he can defend not in 38 years has it been done one of the nas roach performance team Riders from the gun it’s Cayman mulun again takes the opportunity to attack glances over his right hand shoulder and number 75 Henry cook then attacks it’s an effort by all of the

Riders Dunbar well he’s not giving up on the king of the mountains Jersey either so it’s Dunbar takes that remember he may not be wearing the jersey and simply it’s because he’s wearing the yellow Jersey now bike trouble for number 11 Grayson Brookshire but he takes a wheel

From one of his teammates and Begins the long and hard effort of making his way back into the bunch sweeping shot of the bunch here passing through and you can see it’s lined out Michael Olan very much here to work with not necessarily for Eddie Dunbar because the

Opportunities may arise for the Irish team and look at them Steven Shanahan Dara FY all there the hot tubes team also at the front but looking very very focused here is Michael oin sits at the front sets the tempo setting Tempo here sees the Riders lined out and it

Also deters attacks from any of the other Riders we haven’t seen it so far here it’s Kevin Hayes trying to make a break for it but right hot on his heels Eddie dbar will dictate whether or not the Riders bring him back if the rider

Down on GC he may be given some leeway but if he’s close on GC the instruction will go from drumar P him back or set tempo right Tempo just behind him and keep him within distance so the beautiful shots here you can see Michael Alan once more at the

Front Dary Steven Shanahan and sitting in the GU spot right up the head of the race is Eddie Donar so Aaron Swan trying an attack here but he’s been pegged back by the Irish team just riding Tempo and do not be surprised if you see another attack from Eddie d by the form

He’s in at the moment you can see he’s already taken some King of the mountains points today not giving up too easily Rider number 34 there and Daron Swan from the Nicholas roach performance team quickly marked by the hot tubes Riders here beautiful shot here from

Behind as we see 32 darl long now taking his opportunity to get away the Riders going through the gears on the ascent and then once more down through the gears on The Descent off of The Climb so a small group beginning to uh get together here that’s Kad Duncan of

Lucan and sha yelberton joining darl long to make a a three-man group at the head of the race here the hot tubes Riders Eddie dumbar coming across and now he’s got across with Jonathan Brown remember the two Riders were away on stage two before Eddie Dunbar really put it into them now

Coming through the shot here one of the cycling olster Riders it’s Ryan Riley and to to me it certainly looked as if dumbar gave him an instruction there make your way forward Dumar once again showing the Riders simply how strong he is taking even more points here for the

King of the mountains now the race back together again Dumar absolutely in control glances right glances left as much saying to the rest of the Riders I’m in yellow if you’re going to go up the road be prepared for me to go across here very very strong indeed

Now small group here Michael Alan once more working at the front Dara there Steven Shannon sitting in third place and Eddie dunar in fourth place marking the wheels here now working the way in towards the finish the hot tubes Riders are down and they’re looking for the overalls indeed

The top three Jack maddo taking first Philip O’Donnell taking second and Jonathan Brown in third once more Eddie Dunbar taking home the yellow Jersey he’d be delighted with that at the end of stage four secure in once more the yellow Jersey now the Riders delighted on the left there Eddie

Dunbar delighted to take the yellow I it was good today was probably one of the harder days of the thing it was like from here on now the stages get shorter is 100k tomorrow and only 70k Sunday so it might be a bit easier to control but yeah there was a lot of

Attacks today but the lads were able to match him toe for toe and uh yeah it was a very good stage and just happy that we see L yellow at the end of it tomorrow the Finish suit meet up Gallows Hill so I won that stage last year so hopefully

Just the lads can Marsh it in the first few things so even if there is a break up the road I’m sure the lads can bring it back in the hill and uh yeah we can see what we’ll see what we can do in Gallow uh yeah thankfully still in the

Points after another tough stage uh today is one of tougher stages again uh few categorized climbs I think May s of been cat ones that of cat twos but it was actually a very fast finish the Americans let it out and as I said before I’m no Sprinter so today was a

Bit tougher for me manest fourth so very happy with that and hang on to the points yeah well I mean to say there was only three hills in the book but I think there was a lot a lot more than that in real life mean I think there’s a lot

Uncat times that maybe should have been categorized that weren’t but um no it was a hard day as usual and say the hate to we expecting rain so all dressed for the wet weather but it never came so it just very warm but no it was good stage

For me anyway and so of happy enough Jack all the way from America to White Church what was it like riding in in that Sprint finish in your team with you oh it was so great I mean we had three guys there I was so excited and then it

Was really awesome we can finally bring it back you know and really uh you know get everyone up there again everyone you know get the traveling out of our legs and finally get good results so so Jack madx taking the stage ahead of his hot tubes teammate Philip o’ Donnell day

With 10 seconds ahead of the rest doesn’t change the GC much at all Eddie Dunbar still on top by 2 and 1 half minutes and comfortably last year’s race finished up Gallows Hill today it’s the penultimate stage 101 km what a kick at the end stage five three categorized climbs

Rather for the Riders and an early Breakaway with two riders in it it’s Kean Lehi and dar odono great to see Irish Riders attack this is what the junior tour is all about even at a senior level Riders looking to get away now Grayson Brookshire of Williams

Racing we saw him puncture yesterday and quickly get back on he’s being joined Now by three Riders as they look around and see once more Eddie Dunbar is there in the yellow Jersey so the Riders beginning to line out now the speed is up and the braks are

Beginning to go the hot tubes Riders have really contributed to the racing during the course of the week and a big powerful attack up the right hand side of the road there by the hot tube Rider it’s uh number seven Michael Hernandez as the Riders are lined out tough

Conditions for the Riders here today the wet surface May well slow down the riders or the attacks as the hot tube Rider Michael Hernandez presses on you can see not making great Headway Jonathan Brown there right up the head of the race Michael Olan in the mix also Eddie dbar

Sitting up there at the head of the race Riders well strung out at this stage here not many arm warmers on so the temperature certainly is up at this stage Nicholas Ro’s performance team rider that’s darl long attempting a break turning a pretty gear there you

Can see him down on the drops and any Riders breaking away it’s going to be time to work coming through here oh the national champion of America once more Jonathan Brown and the rider there to Mark him he’s one of the Irish Riders there working his way through Brown

Pressing ahead and let me tell you darl long will be lucky to get onto that wheel it’s kale Cohen again using using that time trial ability remember back to the first stage when he was so so strong bit of a gap here on the field and coming into kinina he’s going to use

That speed right up at the head of the race once more cycling olster Riders Michael Olan sitting in second place there dunar sitting in third a bit of a break up ahead as kale Cohen looks to hold on to the wheel here of one of the hot tubes

Riders it’s Michael Hernandez once again number seven he’s indicating get on my wheel sit on the wheel let’s work up and over and another style that we see an awful lot in Europe where the Riders have their hands on the gear levers once more perhaps a little bit aerodynamic

But not a lot of control of the bike so he’s back down in the drops on the big ring we can see there on the front ring two rings the inside ring is used for climbing the outside one well that’s when the power is down so the Riders looking to press

On Hernandez here at it’s been a long time on the front looking to the motor Marshals to see what the time Gap is and support here for Jude and indeed that’s Jude roach nephew of Steven roach so great to see himself participate now coming through the shot it’s darl Lang

Number 32 from the Nicholas roach performance team and orj raisin coming through Dunbar claiming even more points for the king of the mountains that’s at the king of the Hills at Sally bank now at this stage Hernandez has been caught Jonathan Brown there in the shot the Hut tubes

Rider as we press on through the pictures here now as I mentioned Hernandez has been caught by Simon Tumi from Carrick ior produce the team indeed of Martin oin and Carrick wheeler has been the team of the great man himself Shan Kelly Michael oan comes through the shot there

Right on the front setting the pace for Eddie Donar and it really is an indication of the strength of the Irish team here that they can choose to press on behind them behind these two Riders indeed not the news they’ll be looking for there’s two riders coming across

It’s number four Michael alakan also number one Eddie Dunbar look at the strength of hakan here pressing on big tall figure and a great Prospect for the future now more Riders chasing here including Matthew tager but beginning to work up and over here Eddie Dunbar and Michael

Lin a lot of communication between the two Riders here go hard is up go hard is up making sure that they’re getting across here look at the position of Dunbar look at the shoulders down flatb o loin slightly different position slightly more upright and it’s Gallows

Hill look at the crowds that are out here on Gallows Hill who will be first to the summit here Michael loin to the right of the route Eddie dumbar to the right of our picture and as Olan perhaps who may be gifted the stage perhaps not

By dbar dbar in the yellow Jersey Olan on the white jersey oan begins to press forward and indeed it’s Michael Olan who takes the stage from Eddie Dumar great pictures here great images Dunbar absolutely delighted for his teammate remember he will have taken the Y Jersey from mik o l not too long

Ago the reiders pressing on in towards the Finish now and it looks as if it’s one of the Nicholas roach performance team Riders but about to be swept around perhaps indeed not Craig mcy from the Nicholas roach performance team takes third place as the officials call out the numbers

And indeed call out the GC Michael Olan delighted to take the stage remember first year Junior in the International Junior tur of irand Neil tager on the left hand side of the picture a former Irish International himself with the last three k starting from about 40K out

Uh we knew it was going to going to be a tough one and a finish on a cat one climb like Gallows Hill it’s always going to be every man from themselves up there early you know but uh Eddie dbar he’s just he’s phenomenal you know great

Friend and a great teammate so um I’m delighted to uh be on the team with him and help him out as much as he can and he helps us out as well you know you looked after each other today then yeah very much so um from the second Koh in

Um Eddie went up the road and I jumped across to him gave him a little shout to know let him know I was coming across he waited up a bit and uh basically just up and over the whole way and uh he led it very up um Gallows Hill for me and uh

Just pass him there coming to the line and side by side very happy now yeah it wasn’t going to be a race to the line between you two was it uh no not really uh Eddie’s a great teammate you know we I’ve helped him out quite a lot this

Week and uh all year we’ve been up helping each other you know on every orangish team so he uh paid me back today and I’m very happy I mean that means this jersey is yours pretty much permanently now there’s nobody who’s going to be within a continent of you the way it’s

Gone um I’d like to think so but everything nothing’s um for sure in cycling you know a can happen there’s still one stage to go still 70 km so we’ll give it everything tomorrow again well Margaret it’s the second year now that you’ve seen your lad come up

Gallows head and it was the Sunday last year the Saturday this year he hasn’t officially won yet but I mean you must be delighted at how he’s doing he’s he’s doing very well but that’s Eddie you know he gives it 110% so you can’t ask for anymore this is a great place in

Order to get a victory isn’t it Eddie loves loves it here we when you know when my husband was alive we used to come here on holiday and it’s lovely it’s a beautiful place yeah and you must follow him around a lot as well do you

I’m getting that way now sh’s the one into it now though she’s really into it she they call her the he’s Eddie’s manager all right boss it’s it’s another victory for Eddie pretty much on the way one day to go and he’s done it again here up Gallows Hill today yeah I mean

He kind of he doesn’t have to get the wins all he’s to do really is finishing the bunch he has a good time Gap I mean 2 minutes 35 is more than he had last year and that’s all he really wanted he’s proven his point last year like

He’s on way to getting it again but there’s a lot of pressure on on him he all he wants to do is get on his bike and ride and that’s all what he’ll do yeah it was again it was a good team performance today by uh the Irish team

Like we there was attacks left right in center going out the road today but glads were able to match him and uh so that was a good day to get one two for the Irish team a dominant domineering stage taken by Mike llan he and Eddie

Dunar taking at least 49 seconds out of the rest it’s still 2 minutes 35 between them but the rest now now almost 4 minutes down at best and to finish off the junior tour of Ireland seven circuits of South Aris well into the final stage of the International Junior Tour of Ireland

Seven laps of an 11 km course and perhaps ceremonial and perhaps not the general classification still to be decided and right from the gun plenty of attacks coming through the shot there number 14 is car V but being pressed and chased by the Irish team they’ve been so much in

Control of Affairs during the course of the week and it’s a small group of riders looking to break away here and indeed dunar right up at the head of Affairs as he has been all week great representation there as well from the hot tubes Riders as Michael Alan comes through

Shot in third place and I think right at the back of that group was young Matthew tager in the green points Jersey so cycling lster up the head of Affairs indeed as they sweep left Eddie Dunbar coming through the shot there Jack MX of the hot tubes team is there and Dylan

O’Brien also right up at the head of aair so the Riders beginning to work up and over very much controll is a draggy 11 km as you can see here in the shot and the rider who won yesterday stage first year Junior Rider Michael O loan remember after the first stage he had

Taken the yellow Jersey so two stages he’s already taken in the sixth stage International tour so the monster sensor Riders who’ve been really so much a part of this week Eddie johnar coming through flicks the left shoulder next Rider through maybe Michael L but Eddie’s beginning to press on here now although

He has for breakway colleagues I wouldn’t be surprised if Eddie Dunbar really went to put the power down and demonstrate into the finish here at the end of stage six his lead at the moment 2 minutes and 33 seconds uh just behind him is uh Michael

Olan and then another Gap back to Dylan O’Brien of the Nicholas roach performance team so plenty of support for the Irish team here Jack madx just sitting in third place but Alan Lynn there making an effort to get out of the bunch here indeed the Riders and that’s what it’s

All about it’s about getting off the front of the punch and being strong enough to represent your team plenty of support here from the kunga team as the Riders are working the way up and over here in towards the Finish Matthew tager of the Nicholas Rose performance team right up at the

Head of the race so the support cars coming through the pictures here as they sweep left and there’s only one lap to go for the rider so it’s the final lap that’s going to come down to a Gallop the r ERS that we’ll be looking for here I suppose

Could be Dylan o’ri fast man he’s in the colors of monster sensea but tager is the most consistent Rider indeed the Monster Rider Dylan O’Brien takes the win from Matt tager in the green points Jersey and Jack madx of hot tubes in third place so Eddie Donar congratulated

After the Finish he is the first Rider in 38 years to do the double the backto back confirmation back to friends support are indeed family from Dylan O’Brien I’ve taken stage six of the junior International tour of Ireland plenty of representation there well it says a lot

That the five Breakaway men were the top four in general classification going into today plus the green jersey Dylan O’Brien with the final stage but history is made Eddie Dunbar the first man since this race started in the 1970s to win it twice and the international cup about to be presented to Ed

Donar in the white jersey is Michael oan indeed with the Irish team and there we have the Irish team the four Riders there are well done to themselves very very proud of themselves taking the king of the mountains he wore yellow during the course of the week is Eddie Dunbar

And in the green jersey the points Jersey that’s going to Matthew tager taking the cup from Alice shat race organizer remember first Rider 38 years to take backto back wins have there be some great professional writers have done so Eddie dumbar want to watch for the Future No Doubt a successful

Professional career is on the cards for young Dunbar he’s only a seconde junior but he’s already performed and achieved on the International Junior stage sha McNichol right at the front row well a lot of great names on that trophy but Eddie Dunbar very shortly your name’s going to go on that for a

Second time and nobody’s achieved that before well done yeah no it’s quite an achievement cuz this race is very popular you know recycling so when you see names like Nicholas roach L Ian standard Luke R and Mark scandin on it and then to be the first person to win

Twice is quite extraordinary so it was a target from last year when you went I’m sure yeah it was it was one of my main names of the season along with Europe and world so I’ve achieved one of them at the moment so I’m quite happy but uh

Thanks to the lad Dara Steven and Michael they done Savage work all week for me so like they’re really loyal teammates and without them I couldn’t have done it but from the first major stage day two you pounds Cliffs of motor stage and that was it large lead no one

Was going to catch you no I was kind of confident they wouldn’t but uh there was a lot of attacks coming in from uh hot tubes and uh the uh teams so it was hard over a couple of days for the lads and me so but we managed to match them and

It worked out well in the end and I’m delighted to be standing here in the yellow Jersey I mean delighted as well to have made history a result that was was realistically never in doubt I imagine well yeah there’s always stuff in the back of your mind if I crash or

Puncture or stuff but uh yeah I was the frv coming into the race and uh I was just happy that I was able to come out with the win although being the frv I would have been marked but uh no I just did do what I normally do and it paid

Off for me oh it’s a great course it is a great event it’s been a marvelous week I know you would you would hope that there would be a lot more names going on that trophy yeah so hopefully know this uh event will stay running for the

Next few years I’m sure Michael L will probably win this event next year so uh yeah so hopefully so a week of great crowds around CLA and a bit of goway as well and a week of great dominant performances from Edie Dunbar took the yellow Jersey on the second day and kept

It on his shoulders all the way through the first man in history to win the junior tour of Ireland twice you can’t say better than that goodbye Yeah

  1. Absolutely fantastic production work by the camera people, editing, Will Downing and Cian Lynch commentating. I was so pleasantly surprised to see SUCH a fantastic coverage of a junior tour. Having worked in broadcast TV myself I can confidently say that this far surpassed many coverage efforts of senior and even pro racing. I was so very impressed.
    Hats off to ye all!
