Which one is faster? Which one is more practical? Which one is more comfortable? We set a real city race in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Our aim was to compare a recumbent bike and the public transportation in case of an average outskirts resident’s commute.
The bike is from Azub Recumbents:
https://azub.eu/
I used an Azub Max recumbent bike, without any electric assist.

[Applause] hi honza hi how are you ah thanks so fun how are you doing yeah i’m fine as well that was the program for today we are going to theater today okay it’s nice uh which is the area it’s called stavos que di valo or estate theater in english

Okay i don’t really know this place as i’m not from the czech republic but honza is from here that’s not from the capital that he’s from the czech republic yeah it’s definitely a known theater it’s in the city center we are outside of the city so we need to

Get from here to the city center yeah i go by public transport and i’m going by cycling and we don’t really have too much time because theater game is starting very soon how is the public transport in pride what do you know about well i’m not from prague but i find it

Easy to use well organized yeah it is the progress the capital of our country so they have to have a good public transport i guess okay so would you like use a metro line or buses we will use the metro we will have some walking involved then two metro lines

And then walking again all right sounds good and i’m using the recommend bike from azub which is a check manufacturer and uh i’m trying to to do my best to get to the theater as soon as possible and we will make a comparison how fast we can get there yeah so let’s start

[Applause] yeah see you at the theater let’s go Okay so i’m walking to the metro station at the moment maybe somebody would use a bus but they at at the time right now they don’t ride so often so i’m instead of waiting on the bus station i better walk i like it quite a lot so that’s

That’s how i would normally do it at home as well or when i’m here in prague Now Okay perfect timing the train just arrived I think i won’t have uh much more downhill because i decided a lot It was good okay so we have we have nine nine stations to take i think then we need to change the lane and make one more one more stop and then again uh it will involve some some walking public transport is great for that you can use it for reading books newspapers or

Mostly i think it’s time to call honza i will give him a buzz let’s see where he is [Applause] where are you we are in the metro already and uh a second station i guess we still have seven more to go seven more oh okay you have seven stations more yeah until you change the lane yes i see and where are you i only have i only have four kilometers

How many i reached halfway i only have four kilometers more okay yeah okay i’m in a pretty good progress now yeah great so see you there i can hardly hear you anyway see you there man have a great trip bye [Applause] [Applause] there’s a lot of bike lanes here very good clear by bike and the traffic is also not too heavy i think it’s nice to rise here So we are now switching the lines uh we have one more stop to do uh we took it was nine nine stations now and yeah as i mentioned we have one more I think we are very close to this nation Okay so we are at the we are at the venezuela square i think in english it’s the place where the velvet revolution was happening as well and uh it’s a great view but you need to run I think this should be the one where we should arrive so yeah exactly so the time is 36 minutes all right we have arrived we made it first looks like the bike won let’s call honza i think you are there already you’re actually correct because i’m here at the uh theater

I have arrived about four minutes ago okay i’m waiting for you here yes so hurry up we can probably almost already see you but uh still a few hundred meters to go anyway awesome see you there awesome see you here cheers so already four minutes

I have to say i expected him to be there much sooner Hey everybody yeah nice job yeah so how was the ride oh it was superb uh you know first it was steep downhill yeah and then we crossed some uh some streets in the city which are beautiful yeah beautiful buildings around and yeah since i arrived i had the sun

Love okay yeah so how much time it is five six minutes yeah the difference is about six minutes yeah i have to say i would expect a bit more of it already because i was not hurrying at the last part i couldn’t run as well but

Oh hurry but it was nice i think the public transport is nice here in bragg but yeah cycling is even better as usual as usual at the end of the decent uh there was a plugged road there was kind of road construction the first spot i could enter

The second part was really blocked they said it i have to avoid and make a detour and did you have some uh cycling paths did you use some cycling paths or mostly oh yeah i think i think the cycling paths are good they’re pretty good yeah i could follow the

Bike lines uh a lot of sections so yeah prague is pretty decent in cycling yeah we had we had a good connection as well like when we entered the metro uh the train just came and then again after we switched so basically just the wall was was

Kind of long and could be maybe shorten a bit by bus if you don’t wait too long and then it took us some time to purchase the tickets yeah yeah so if you have a monthly pass it might be much shorter and perfect moments we might have uh arrived at the same time

About the same time yeah whatever you use public transport or bike it’s a good solution yeah against car i think uh which is the worst transportation in the city in the city definitely yeah cool let’s go into the theater yes sure

  1. It's not "a" czech company, it's honza's company.

AZUB bikes are great. Maybe could you show off the origami? I think it might be great competition for the brompton as it can do similar things but more comfortable and safer.
