Hello from Lüneburg! I’m Celia and I moved to the Hanseatic city to study. Why it is simply the most beautiful city to live in, is what we’re talking about now. There are just so many beautiful places, so many students that you can meet everywhere in the city –
Lots of nature around you, you can get to the heath very quickly. There is somehow a special flair with the old houses. The old town, of course, is beautiful – this huge old town ensemble here. Then the bars, pubs, restaurants, Lüneburg has a lot to offer.
And also when it comes to nature with the Wilschenbruch quarter, nature reserves – I think it’s simply a very livable city. For me, Lüneburg is the most beautiful city because it is manageable, but not too small. You can always do something on the weekend. The old town is beautiful.
Of course, it’s perfect, especially for young people. You can go partying on the weekend or just have a coffee in the afternoon. Lüneburg is a student city, which is very important for us. And focused on sustainability which is also very important for us.
And I think it’s perfect. I’m really happy to be here. I feel like it’s a great place for self-discovery here. Because people are open, you meet so many different types of people from all over Germany – a lot of international students as well.
I also think that the people in a city are really important for the attitude to life. The people here in Lüneburg are really cool. Here, the first day we arrived, it was… everybody is so open, so friendly. And we love that, it’s great.
I was here alone in Lüneburg at first, just strolled around the shops and, yes, met so many new people straight away. You can see that the place is important to them through projects like the yellow ladder, for example, which are placed in front of the small, owner-managed shops.
I have the feeling that a lot of people here are very cosmopolitan. And there are a lot of cultural events that always bring new flair to the city. We have already shot a video about culture in Lüneburg, which I’ll link to in the info box.
Whether concerts, cinema, theater, museums – there is so much to experience here! Then there are the countless city festivals such as the infamous Sülfmeistertage. Well, and if you do want more, you’re only half an hour away from Hamburg. Still, there’s nothing missing here.
Lüneburg also has a lot to offer in terms of leisure and sports activities. Whether swimming, supping, climbing, or sports aviation, everything is possible here. Lüneburg is also a cycling city. You can reach everything easily or go on great bike tours, for example on the Ilmenau.
By the way: Here, where the Ilmenau runs through the city center, is the Stint. a very popular meeting place because of the many clubs, bars, cafés and restaurants and because of this bridge.
The market square in front of the city hall is also a nice meeting point. Every Wednesday and Saturday you can get fresh fruit, vegetables or, for example, bread rolls and coffee.
In winter the market square is transformed into one of the most beautiful Christmas markets. Basically, the whole city of Lüneburg is transformed into a real Christmas city. But now it’s your turn, because the best way to experience the flair of Lüneburg is to just come by yourself.
If you’ve already been here, write in the comments what your favorite place is.
