It was impossible to get a rental bike in Warsaw but I still managed to go on a training ride! This is my first experience with cycling in Poland. Local Piotr (who was not really local) got me a bike and took me along for a tour through the national park. To get out of the city and to a good road to ride was a life risking ride…..

    1. Kudos to Piotr for going above and beyond, and managing to stay on your wheel Jasper. He even managed to get you a cool bike that matched your cycling kit !! 🙂

    2. We have an airport in Gdansk too so next time come to Gdansk. I do not want to suggest that we have better roads 😉 but we have Hel check it out. And it will be local ride for Piotr. Btw i would love to go with you but you would drop me half the way 🙂

    3. not the best intro to cycling in Poland – hopefully you'll stay longer next time and maybe see some Masurian Lakes or more hilly south of Poland…

    4. Waw mijn ex naam is piotr. Fancy bike. Ik Kom uit Sofia bulgareije dus ik wacht video :)Leven voor mij is nu alleen de buurt van Amsterdam. Dansen voor mij is nog in lock down.en ja Netherlands is niet plat here fietsen 5% 7%. genieten van.

    5. Piotr is such a sweet guy, a real gentleman. Driving all those hours up and down from Gdansk to Warsaw. And then he brings this sick bike and also does the route. Chapeau and I hope Jasper gave Piotr the big thank you that he deserves.

    6. LOL, these roads are little baby besides the roads in romania:))) anyway keep pushing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    7. You should come to Bulgaria to see beautiful roads :). We will wait you in Varna city. They are astonishing views over the roads near Black Sea ⛵

    8. Well riding in Poland is not the best idea. You only find idiots driving.. There are places where you can go, but definitely not in main roads.. Total idiots

    9. Great ride Jasper – that was awesome of Piotr to go out of his way to ride with you – the cycling brotherhood lives on.

    10. @Jasper Verkuijl loving your vlogs across Europe! How did the Emonda feel in terms of comfort compared to the SuperSix you have done the 500km ride on? Thanks

    11. There is actually a route through the forest nearby suitable for bikes instead of the main road (National road 7). Way more enjoyable 🙂

    12. I appreciate what Piotr did, but you would feel better if you went with someone local guy.
South of Warsaw, we have a lot of roads popular among cyclists. When the weather is nice, you pass a dozen or so people for a kilometer. You can meet professional cyclists training or even the world champion Kwiatkowski;)
The roads are good and there is little traffic by cars.
There is also a cafe for cyclists "Góra Kawiarnia", check this direction (Gassy) next time you are in Warsaw.
      Greetings 🙂

    13. I think Piotr was doing his best to avoid taking soggy beaten tracks on a road bike. As a result you ended up riding along the hard shoulder, upstream one of the busiest roads in Poland insead of thaking a quiet cycling route that runs in between this road and the riverbank – pedestrians and bikes only. In fact the national park that you went through is a place that I visit at least once a month on my bike. It is an amazing place for off-road cycling if you like sand. The tarmac only goes around Kampinos (the national park), which happens to be one of the largest forests in Poland, splitting a vast area of Masovia in half. This means that despite it's a rural road, it attracts quite a lot of traffic.

In fact most of Masovia, the area around Warsaw, is not particularly good for road biking because it is pretty densely populated. Thanks to the numerous forests that surround it it's great for off-road. If you want some enjoyable low-traffic road bike routes you should target rural areas of Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Podlaskie and Podkarpackie. You can spend an spend an hour on your bike being passed by literally 10 or so cars.

    14. What a crazy idea to go abroad for cycling, chose it's most boring, flat area, go to it's largest, least cycling friendly city, and try to enjoy cycling on busiest roads!!!
