  1. That's brilliant! When I was in the Netherlands, I assumed there simply weren't many driveways, but now I see they were there, but simply downplayed to give obvious priority to cyclists. But how do they make it clear to drivers they can't park in front when the driveways are not obvious?

  2. @reaperexpress Where parking is allowed is very obvious. They may be unclear from a bike, but when you stand right in front of them all these driveways are clearly exits, so that means no parking. As you can see at 0:44 the parking area is also a darker color than the no parking area. If that isn't clear enough: at 1:15 you can also see the NP in the pavement for No Parking (or in Dutch Niet Parkeren). Parking in the cycle lane is never permitted so from 2:22 it is also very clear: no parking.

  3. Thinking out loud –
Americans are not as smart as Europeans because of the poisonous auto exhaust fumes killing brain cells. This is why Americans are so violent (We have invaded so many countries, like a violent bullies).
The best thing that could happen is oil is cutoff for 40 years so the next generation will not have the brain damage…

  4. It is done to protect the pedestrians from cyclists invading into their space. We don't need to cycle on the footpath. If you should accidentally cycle onto the footpath, the kerb is sloped, so you won't fall, even if it rains. But you won't have to, 'cause there are no parked cars on the cyclepath and it is wide enough to overtake other cyclists. Separation makes traffic safer.

  5. Meanwhile in Estonia, assuming there even is a bicycle path (it's usually a sidewalk designated for both pedestrians, bicycles and similar vehicles), … well why do I even bother. The idea is to make cycling as hard as possible.

  6. In Italy they put a lot of poles and sticks to "make it safer" which means by bike you have to stop every 100m which makes the cycle lane unusable. And tons of "end of cycling lane" / "beginning of cycle lane" signs, at every crossing with a car lane 😭
