She and I raised him by the skin of our teeth my mom died and um I know that’s been heavy on him very heavy when he points up to heaven after he wins he’s pointing up to his grandma she’s got the best seat in the house my father was a fighter uh my

Grandfather was a fighter it’s just in my blood man uh their stories of Dustin getting on his bicycle riding around with boxing gloves going to go fight people his initial goal was to be a boxer one day man he must have been just like 10 years old they’d get these

Boxing matches going on in the neighborhood and and Dustin did that and he you know he was the the best out of all the little kids the little guys that boxed and then there was this one guy that came to meet him at his grandma’s and said well you haven’t boxed me yet

And Dustin like knocked out his teeth and broke his jaw and he was like 5 years older than Dustin and we had to go to court for that yep that’s when he started skipping school and ended up in juvenile courts and um boot camp and Juvenile jail and all of that Stuff today we’re at a cadan middle school where I was had the opportunity to teach Dustin hiier he lived here near this the school so he could actually walk to school at that time he was in the eighth grade he was a little mischievious he may have gotten upset

And maybe answered the teacher back got in a scuffle with with other students and he would have to face the Consequences and one particular day he was assigned to Saturday intervention And this particular day Dustin was so upset that he acted out and he punched the wall I said you punched the wall the wall didn’t move but did he move you the who got hurt then and I can recall him saying me if I were you if you’re going to

Punch walls like this you might as well use it and make money on it and be a boxer I could remember him saying yeah you’re right Miss T years later so when he came by my house he told me what he what his intentions were that he had planned on

Becoming uh a boxer I said that is totally awesome you could use that anger and use it for something positive his mother was always there and she would answer my call and the two of us would get together to make sure that we would try to keep Dustin on the right

Path I met some guys at a boxing gym who were doing mixed martial arts they were just working on their striking and I went to their gym and the story’s history you know it just snowballed into a career of fighting crazy Tim crater he was actually Louisiana’s very

First uh black belt and I think dusy mentors really was like a a Gladiators Academy we were not necessarily Tim’s training Partners we we were his his victims if you think I’m [ __ ] here to waste my [ __ ] time on you you have lost your

Mind you don’t do [ __ ] for me when I far with you if you ever say that to me again you’re out of the gym forever you hear me man a lot of people got hurt a lot of people people got broken he was dedicated into building us

Into better people he worked with Dustin for a very very long time so the first time that I ever trained with Dustin one of my guys said hey this kid right here he’s unbelievable he’s an amateur but you need to go spar with him so I put my mouthpiece in I put my

Gloves on and me and Dustin did a couple rounds and I was fighting the UFC at the time and I went in the bathroom and I spit my mouthpiece out and a bunch of blood came out of my mouth and I looked at myself in the mirror and I said this

Kid’s going to be aing world champion before I even put those gloves on I knew I can do this you know I just had I just had I was overconfident in it Alber go with d let’s go repair you got 30 seconds when I first started fighting the sport

Of fighting I didn’t even expect to I had not one thought of money or fame or anything like that in my mind I just wanted to fight that’s it simple and plain when I was watching these guys fight the grit and determination that they showed I just for some reason knew I had

Really had that Killer Instinct and there’s just no getting them off you he knew he knew how to kill he was a Punisher We’re from south Louisana Iana we’ve been the underdog our whole lives we’re poor white trash kids from the bottom of America and nobody gives us

Credit so we come to take it fighting locally in Louisiana as a professional I’m not scared to lose or scared to get hurt in a fight I expect to get hit you know I know I’m not going to go in there and not get hit it’s a

Fight it’s like uh it’s like going to work in the office and and not touching paper or something you know you’re going to get hit as part of the job in Fury a lot of times you have guys that work really really hard and make all the

Sacrifices and then you have guys that are really great talents guys that do both become you know some of the greatest Fighters the world has ever seen you know and you know it’s exciting seeing a kid like Dustin who may be one of those

Guys will he make it to the UFC will he be world champion potential 5507 seconds what he said he was going to beat me in a minute you just got to you got to watch out what you say sometimes you got to eat your words you know at his own game baby oh

My God I wasn’t making a lot of money me and my wife and we bought a house when we were 19 years old so I had a mortgage you know I had grown man bills and I was a young kid trying to fight and make money uh he was a truck

Driver he actually delivered uh construction material the age of 18 he had his own job he was married he had his own house and uh he was very self-supporting you know and and it’s because nothing was given to this is a picture of me right when I started training I was probably

About 200 lb on that picture big transformation you know she’s my best friend and uh think I wouldn’t have accomplished a lot without her so he’s driving around all day and then we would get together and we would meet at a practice after um you know so fighting was his

His business you know he was fighting that that extra 600 that extra 1,200 bucks that was going towards his bills that was going towards providing for his family Ro face this boy does not want to be in the ring with you you hear what I’m telling

You he’s taking you down for a reason like to you put it in your mind you’re going to knock this [ __ ] out you put your chin down you put your hands up and you start throwing shots make him punish this dude he’s finally found found what he’s been looking for all of this

Time the people that are here have it in their blood just to be resilient that aren’t going to quit they aren’t going to stop uh the people around here are willing to do whatever it takes you know to make it he’s accomplished so much he went from this alcoholic

Making like3 or $4,000 I lost so I didn’t get the other Half as a young kid I don’t know how much flights really cost you I’m letting him book my my coach’s flights it’s $600 for his flight you know so I get my check and I might have like 1,200 bucks and I got to fly back home and look at my wife you know

We didn’t even have money for her to go I didn’t even have money to to get the hotel room you know we lost money are you ready fight wow right off the bat poier showing no respect for Mite coming forward launching coun right mite’s already hurt Mite is in trouble and PO
