Hyundai KONA Hybrid Script Introduction Hi, I’m Ellie from Smiths Hyundai Peterborough, today we have here the new 2023 Hyundai KONA Hybrid, which offers the perfect blend of futuristic styling, efficiency and technology. We’ll also be covering the mild-Hybrid in this video and will be reviewing the New KONA
Electric in a separate video soon, so make sure to subscribe to be notified when that is released. At Smiths Hyundai, we sell cars right across the UK and offer nationwide delivery. If you would like to find out more or check out our latest deals, visit smithshyundai.co.uk. Exterior Design Let’s get started at
The front. Immediately standing out is the KONA’s new seamless horizon lamp that spans the full front of the car. The version we have with us is the N Line in Meta Blue, which offers a sportier-looking front bumper than the other trims,
With black accents and a swooping blade that wraps around the lower light cluster. The Hyundai logo is displayed on the front of the bonnet, which features creases down either side further complementing its sporty appearance. N Line models are equipped with these
Fantastic-looking 18-inch bi-colour alloy wheels with the ‘N’ logo in the centre, which is also featured underneath the wing mirrors. All models get alloy wheels as standard, in either 17- or 18-inches depending on the version. The look of the front is mirrored on the rear,
With another horizon lamp that wraps around the sides. There’s also KONA lettering that spans the boot lid and updated Hyundai badging. The rear bumper is as impressive as the front, with more sports car styling such as a black diffuser and dual chrome-tipped exhausts
On N Line models. Non N-Line models have a simpler but equally eye-catching appearance. Interior Design & Comfort Inside the All-New KONA, every touch point has been thoughtfully designed. Throughout the cabin are red accents and stitching on N Line models which elevates the interior’s appearance. There are a few different interior styles that
You can choose from depending on the specification you choose. Entry-level models come with a cloth trim. If you choose the more premium N Line S, you’ll benefit from Alcantara and Leather seats. Top-of-the-range models offer black leather seat facings. If you would prefer to elevate your interior even further,
You can specify Ultimate models with light grey upholstery, or even a unique subtle green. You’ll notice amongst the high-quality finishing that there is customisable ambient lighting throughout the cabin. This can be customised to colours of your choice on the infotainment screen. There are plenty of physical buttons which are all easily accessible whilst
Driving minimising distractions. Other controls can be accessible on the dual 12.3-inch displays – we’ll talk more about these later. Comfort is great in all areas of the cabin. The seats are very supportive and there is ample legroom in the rear for passengers. Even with its sloping roofline,
The KONA’s headroom in the rear is great. You have the option of electronic driver and passenger seat adjustment, while lumbar support for the driver is standard across the range. Selected models not only come with front heated seats, but also in the rear too,
Which is quite a rare feature at this price point. It doesn’t end there though, as there is also a heated steering wheel and door mirrors to reduce condensation and prevent them from icing up. On the subject of temperature, KONA can be equipped with either dual or tri-zone
Automatic air conditioning depending on the specification that you choose. Space & Practicality Hyundai has really listened to previous KONA customers, with lots of improvements in the overall user experience. Starting in the centre console, the cupholders accommodate most cup and bottle sizes and when
Not in use, they can be hidden away to create more room for your belongings. There’s a handy place to store your phone when on the go, above this, which also doubles as a wireless charging pad. On the passenger side, there is a spacious
Glove box and an illuminated storage area with a rubberised texture to prevent things from sliding. The dimensions of the new KONA have increased from its predecessor. It’s 150mm longer, 25mm wider and a 60mm increase in the wheelbase creates more room for both cargo and passengers.
From N line and above, the KONA comes with the highly requested power tailgate making it hassle-free when loading and unloading. Opening it up reveals 466 litres of boot space, a 30% increase from the previous generation’s capacity. The lack of a load lip makes it very easy to transport bulky objects
Like suitcases. Dropping the rear bench gives you even more room, a generous 1,300 litres. Connectivity and In-Car Technology There’s plenty of technology inside and outside of the new KONA. Let’s start with the displays, these dual 12.3-inch screens are very sharp and responsive. You can cycle through the infotainment screen’s
Various modes using either the touchscreen itself or the tactile buttons underneath it. This makes it quick and easy to switch between your music, navigation and other settings on the fly. It comes with all of Hyundai’s top-of-the-range connectivity including Bluetooth with voice recognition, LIVE services, MapCare and smartphone integration.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity allow you to mirror your smartphone on the display so you can make calls, use third-party navigation apps and listen to your favourite music through services such as Spotify. A unique hidden feature of the new KONA
Is the ‘sounds of nature’. If you would prefer to listen to ambient noise rather than music, there are various themes to choose from, including rainy day, warm fireplace, and forest. Another smart feature is the adaptive USB port. You can switch between connecting to smartphone
Mirroring or just delivering power to your device at the press of a button. Overall there are 4 USB C ports in the car, two in the front and two in the rear, so there is no fear of your devices running out of charge when on a long journey.
Power & Performance The KONA is available with a range of powertrain options. The car we have with us today is the Hybrid, which uses a combination of a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 32kW electric motor to output just shy of 140 horsepower.
The two mild-hybrid options on offer are a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine with 118 horsepower and a more powerful 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine with 195 horsepower. The hybrid is capable of a 0-62mph time of 11.2 seconds and the larger engine of the two on the
Mild-hybrid can achieve a time of 7.8 seconds. The hybrid powertrain in the KONA majors on efficiency. It’s capable of a combined WLTP economy figure of 60.1 miles per gallon thanks to the assistance of its electric motor. If you would like to find out
More information about what powertrain is for you, we have a great page on our website that explains the benefits and drawbacks of each type of electrification. Click on the banner above or visit the link in the description for more information. Driving Impressions So, what is the new
KONA like to drive? It’s actually really easy. The gear selector is conveniently located on the steering column, and it’s as simple as twisting it up or down to go from park to drive. Thanks to the hybrid powertrain, acceleration is very close to a fully electric car. It picks up the pace without
Any delay so you can be confident overtaking and adapting your speed to the road conditions. The steering is very precise meaning it handles country roads really well. It also absorbs rough ground easily thanks in part to its raised ride height and well-damped suspension.
Taking it out onto dual carriageways and motorways, it cruises nicely. The smart cruise control means you can set and forget with it automatically increasing and reducing your speed as the traffic flows. There’s very minimal wind and road noise noticeable, Hyundai has done an excellent job in making the cabin a relaxing environment.
Safety & Driver Assistance Being a modern high-tech car, KONA has lots of safety and driver assistance features to make your life easier, and safer. Starting with the parking assist features, the rear-view camera provides additional visibility of the rear when reversing and the guidelines show you the direction you are turning.
Selected models come with a surround-view monitor, which gives you even more visibility around the car. There are also parking sensors on both the front and rear that will alert you of objects close to you. Should you get too close, the parking
Collision avoidance assist will take control and bring the car to a standstill if it detects you are going to hit a static object. When on the move, forward collision avoidance assist can bring the KONA to a stop if it detects cars, pedestrians,
And cyclists in front of you. This comes as standard on all models of the car. The optional rear cross-traffic alert will detect moving objects whilst you are reversing. If they go unnoticed, it will stop the car as the forward collision avoidance assist does.
Other driver assistance and safety features include lane keep assist, lane follow assist, safe exit warning, tyre pressure monitoring, hill start assist, intelligent speed limit assist, driver attention warning and blind spot collision avoidance assist. Outro Thank you for
