What do you think about the toopre tool? I used their chain breaker tool to shorten the izumi njs chain. I found it really difficult to remove. I twisted it until it was distorted but still couldn’t remove the chain. If I use the tool If it’s better, it can be removed?. Thank you for your time

    1. Is a cheapo tool. Ive got the same one rebranded and kinda sucks. The o ring desing to keep the lever from falling is a pos really. Gotta make sure you put the chain on the right width slot and even then you can deform the chain anyway. Does it’s job but barely.

Better chain tools will be easier to use, but if that’s all you have access to, it’ll work.

I broke mine trying the exact same thing. It’s the izumi chains, they somehow don’t sit right in the holder so the pin doesn’t get a proper straight through push. I’ve tried the park tool and nada. Only the Shimano chain breaker seemed to do the job, borrowed one from a mate.

A quick Google will tell you that this is surprisingly common (I wish I learned this earlier).

    4. I’ve shortened and repaired countless Izumi chains with a chain tool that looks pretty much like OP’s.

The way the picture is taken makes it hard to tell if everything is properly aligned and the chain placed correctly in the tool.
