Hello, I’m Benoît Babel, harpsichord teacher at the Conservatoire de Versailles Grand Parc and coordinator of the early music department. In addition to a wide range of theory courses, the early music department offers a wealth of instrumental teaching, including harpsichord,

Violin, flute, oboe, bass instrument, cello, viola da gamba and rarer instruments such as the serpent, cornetto, harp, historical percussion and even musette de cour, all under the guidance of a teaching team of some fifteen renowned professors who are well-known personalities in the music world.

Studying at Versailles means choosing the curriculum that’s right for you from a full range of diploma courses, including the CPES, run in conjunction with the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, the COP cycle d’orientation professionnelle, which leads to the DEM,

The bachelor degree, the master degree and the possibility, in one additional year, of obtaining a DE diplôme d’état, and the cycle de perfectionnement, which can be adapted to suit your needs.

At Versailles, ensemble playing is at the heart of your studies, thanks in particular to our long-standing partner, the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles. You’ll have the opportunity to perform alongside the Pages and Chantres under the direction of Fabien Armengaud or other guest conductors such as Emmanuelle Haïm or Sébastien Daucé.

You’ll be playing in one of the most beautiful concert venues in the world, the Royal Chapel of the Château de Versailles. You’ll also be able to play in other historic venues close to the Conservatoire, such as the Montansier theater, where we gave a magnificent performance of Dido and Aeneas.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Conservatoire de Versailles Grand Parc.
