A Series of Short Videos of a Bike Tour in Spring 2023.
In this film I continue to travel along the banks of the Canal d’Orleans to the small village of Cepoy. Today is the rainy day, all tours have one. I find a new bike wheel and solve some tech problems. Even a can of food that I need no tools to open.
Riding my Genesis Croix de Fer 10 2021 bike with flat pedals and a selection of the most inexpensive equipment money can buy, wearing tennis shorts, trainers and a £20 jacket I travel over 100km a day fully loaded to the camp spots and typically complaining about stuff.

Day eight I think uh as you can see it’s a wet day today uh I’ve got about 75k that way to go on the canal do I’m going to a small town uh where I’m going to try and buy a new battery power station or Andor a charger because I have no way
Of charging anything anymore everything’s gone bang um so yeah I’ll do that today GoPro is firmly locked away in the bag doesn’t like in Clement weather yeah underwater camera doesn’t like the rain but anyway so use the iPhone today I probably won’t film much this morning because I’m just going to
Make my way to this little town but if I see anything of any interest at all I’ll get the iph phone out because that seems to work all of the time so um heading that direction over there where you can see the Misty path heading along what is the start of the canal
[Applause] doon all right so it’s still raining um just following the canal Along on what seems to be the main Canal route but not exactly next to the canal all the time and I’ve just come across this great little place and it’s got loads and loads of French and German fire trucks
Uh and all sorts of things in it there’s a Renault 4 a dudo uh Unimog and uh perso this guy this guy seems to be collecting them saving them doing something with them brilliant so I just stopped here because of the uh closure of this um path I
Don’t think that’s a bad thing really this is really hard to ride on especially with all that weight slippery uh and quite overgrown so perhaps that’s what they’re doing perhaps they’re turning it into something that’s almost impossible to cycle along um but you can see in the in the canal how much it’s
Raining uh I’m just get back on the road which is just over there and I’m just going to try and follow the road for a bit and see see where that takes me um it see seems to be that there is a road that follows pretty much alongside the
Canal so I’m going to try and follow that all right so just stopped here to mark this moment this is quite a key point on this trip that direction over there is generally downhill to Paris and the Direction behind me over there which you can see that direction
Is predominantly downhill to nont so that means that this spot here is the highest spot on this trip and it is really really high it’s nearly 130 M so all the rain today that’s falling over on that side of me is heading to the sa and all of the rain that’s falling on
That side of me is heading to laua okay so I found this bus stop in this little PK I’ve been here a while dried off a bit had my breakfast um not sure what to do today it looks like it’s clearing up from that direction
Which is fine so it should dry out in perhaps about 10 15 minutes it’s actually stopped raining now um so yeah I’m just going to head on to my lunch stop really I think and then take it from there see what happens um if it’s looking pretty crappy I might
Just carry on depending how I feel anyway I’ll let you know All right so after about 40 kilm I stopped here in bagard and had a coffee uh I think it’s actually stopped raining so gopro’s back out again which is great stuff because that’s really nice just to use that on handle bars so should be some more videos from now about 25 km to
Go on the route National setting off down there so I’m going to make a start on that hopefully going the right way I’m going to stop up here in this little village and just check I don’t want to go too far off the route I need to go to buy a yeah battery
Charger and there’s only one shop around here that’s going to sell that I need to get There All right just checking in um yeah not been a very uh eventful ride today it’s been a bit dull really the canal was not cyclable it just wasn’t there was no way that that was even the right thing to be doing uh it was all overgrown the surface was really poor it
Is a cycle route but it’s not turn right then turn left onto rud jar yeah um yeah it wasn’t really a very good way to be going anyway I need to get to the bike shop because I’ve broken two more spokes this morning on that very canal Right Supermarket I take you to exciting places vegetable ravioli that’s what I’ve come here for I’m in the bio A okay I’m heading to the campsite now it’s about halfast 2 but I’m pretty much done for today I’m absolutely knackered I’ve been to two bike shops and uh would you believe it neither of them have a standard size wheel they all have all sorts of other
Sizes but none of them have her standard European magic wheel So I finally found a bike shop that has a wheel and they have a lot of Wheels but they only have one that fits my bike well at least that’s what he said anyway I’m very pleased with that because he’s changing it M all too Sweet this guy really is changing the wheel quickly we’re almost done I’ve only been here 10 minutes can’t believe it anyway well worth the find and it’s only about 2k from my campsite so I’m really pleased with that Okay new wheel is fitted amazing what amazing Service can’t complain about that we had the wheel in stock switched it over in 15 minutes grumbled a bit about this that and the other and charged me €120 for the privilege but it’s great feels great so I’m pleased with that so now almost to the campsite I think I’ve solved all the
Problems of the day I’ve got my new power supply and my new wheel so brilliant
