Hi guys today we’re taking a look at the latest 2024 OLED gaming monitor from LG Ultra gear this is the 39 gs95 QE aimed at PC users and Sim Racers details are in the description below including purchasing links so I’ll be testing this out and seeing how good the picture
Quality is seeing how well it performs as a productivity Monitor and doing some gaming on it on both my gaming desk and my sim racing cockpit using my gaming PC highlighting any pros and cons to give you a better idea if it’s worth getting or not but before I begin if you’re new
To the channel hope you can support me by subscribing and hitting the Bell icon to get notified of my next release and if you have any questions leave them in the comments below LG are hosting a giveaway of their new 2024 LG Ultra gear monitors to be in with a chance to win
One check out the link in the video description for more details on all the terms and conditions provided by LG and good luck in the competition let’s begin by unboxing it and seeing what you get inside the packaging you get cover for the ports a monitor stand a monitor arm
And a box containing some accessories inside here you get a power cable with a clover leaf connector a power adapter with a DC connector a display port 1.4 cable a HDMI 2.1 cable a USB a to usbb Cable a small clip used as a cable holder some documentation and finally
Underneath here is the monitor on the back of the monitor you have a vessa mounting point which is 100x 100 mm allowing you to to use different monitor arms or even wall mount it attaching the monitor stand is really easy and you don’t need any additional tools to put
It together you just place the monitor arm in position and lock it into place then attach the monitor stand by tightening the two screws which are underneath and the monitor arm can be easily removed by pressing down on this button and lifting away the back of the
Monitor has a smooth finish with the LG Ultra gear logo at the top which has a purple reflective finish and the design of the LEDs has changed from the 2023 model which now goes around the mounting points for the monitor arm and doesn’t protrude out making the monitor pretty
Thin and light weighing just 7.14 kilos without the sand you have the ports towards the bottom which consists of two HDMI 2.1 ports a display port 1.4 one usbb 3.0 Upstream port and two usba a 3.0 Downstream ports and there’s a power input it would have been nice if the
Monitor didn’t have a separate power adapter and it was integrated in into the back of it the monitor doesn’t have any built-in speakers or a type-c port which is a bit of a shame closer to the bottom there’s a joystick that gives access to the OSD allowing you to adjust
The settings underneath the monitor there’s a Kensington locking point and a four Poole headphone jack meaning it can support sound and a microphone with virtual 3D sound as it supports DTS headphone X and there’s two notches on either side and this is where you’d attach the small clip you get in the
Packaging for cable management of your mouse or keyboard cable coming around the front of the monitor it has an anti-glare coating on the screen and is black with thin bezels on each side with a very small chin underneath that’s hardly noticeable the monitor looks clean with its 39in display weighing 10
1/2 kilos with the stand it has an 800r curvature but due to its size it actually doesn’t feel too overwhelming the design of the monitor arm and stand has changed from their previous models it’s made from metal with a dark gray matte finish and has Ultra gear written
On there below that is a gap for cable management with that gap having a light purple accent around it helping to direct the cables towards the back of the stand I’m actually quite liking the new L-shaped design as it doesn’t take up too much space on your desk given the
Ability to position it closer to the wall as you can see here and if you are wondering my desk is 140 cm wide and 70 CM deep the stand provides a really stable base for the Monitor and size-wise I’ve given some dimensions on the screen if you’re after the sizing of
It just hit pause to see those values you can easily make adjustments to the monitor as you can move it up and down tilt it forwards and backwards and swivel it left and right if you’re getting this for a desk I’d say it’s still worth investing in a good monitor
Arm to completely free up the space on your desk as this would allow you to move the monitor even further back the picture quality on this monitor is awesome colors look vibrant and sharp on the WQ HD OLED display giving a 21 by9 aspect ratio that provides a 3440 by
1440p resolution you get quite a large screen real estate for gaming and productivity and as this has an OLED panel you don’t get any light bleed plus with self-lighting pixels providing Inky blacks making those dark scenes look amazing it supports hdr10 and has a DCI P3
98.5% color gamut with a color depth of 1.07 billion colors together with a contrast ratio of 1.5 million to1 giving Vivid colors with great contrast levels viewing angles from left to right and up and down are excellent with no reduction in picture quality text on the monitor
Is not bad but due to its size the pixel density isn’t great with a 96 PPI so you do see some slight frigging around the text if you look closely and what’s interesting is that LG have upgraded to using their MLA plus technology to enhance brightness levels from 200 nits
To 275 nits in both SDR and in HDR Peak brightness and in addition it has vessa display HDR true black 400 ensuring that the monitor will deliver at least 400 nits of peak brightness with it providing an average Picture level Peak brightness of 1,300 knits but looking at
My PC it was reporting 603 nits in HDR but nevertheless the performance is still pretty good in a bright room providing quite an impressive experience plus it supports 240 htz on both the HDMI 2.1 ports and the display Port 1.4 now like with the majority of gaming
Monitors out there this has an anti-g glare low reflection coating on the display giving a matte-like finish unlike the glossy finish you get on an OLED TV this helps to reduce the screen Reflections from ambient lighting especially in very bright rooms or if you work next to a window it’s still
Very usable whereas in contrast a standard OLED TV wouldn’t be as great in a bright room especially if there were light coming directly onto the screen as it would literally reflect like a mirror the colors and picture quality are excellent together with being pretty sharp and with the high brightness
Output it’s much more usable in a bright environment there’s even a peak brightness option allowing you to flip between off low and high on the negative side the anti-glare low reflection technology can reduce color representation slightly on the display and what this means is that the colors
Wouldn’t seem as good as what you’d see on an Ola TV where they literally pop out maybe as an alternative it would have been nice if there were two very of this monitor where you could choose between either a matte or a glossy screen but playing any color games with
Vibrant colors the screen doesn’t awesome job and with the flicker-free panel the monitor reduces eye strain onto gaming on this Monitor and seriously The Experience on this is really immersive with the 39 in 800r curvature covering quite a good part of your field of vision I’ve got this all
Connected up to my PC which is a custom build from cyber power that has an insane spec with an AMD ryzen 9 7950 X 3D 16 core processor AMD RX 7,900 graphics card with 24 gigs 32 gigs of RAM and a 2 TB SSD now gaming on this
Monitor is just so good and really smooth with a 0.03 millisecond response time making this monitor so fast the clarity levels are just stunning it supports Nvidia g-sync and AMD freesync premium Pro with gameplay being awesome with it being Ultra smooth with no tearing or stuttering with the added benefit of the
240 HZ refresh rate the size and curvature of the 800r actually feels pretty good on a desk with the updated stand taking up a minimal amount of space on a desk with good coverage on the screen when gaming providing a great field of view with the 3440 by 1440p
Resolution giving you that additional coverage that works really well and the interesting thing here is that if I take this length of paper and hold one end at my chair head rest and stretched the other end to the monitor the distance is the same moving across the curvature
Meaning your eyes don’t have to keep refocusing in your field of view making it the perfect size and curvature I’ve played a number of different games on the Monitor and they’ve looked incredible with really sharp and vibrant colors together with Inky blacks giving a stunning experience onto testing with
A console now I’ve connected up my Xbox series X to the Monitor and looking in the display settings with the 4K UHD selected at 120 HZ you can select this but as it isn’t a 4k monitor the maximum resolution is 1440p but variable refresh rate is supported on both PS5 and Xbox
Series X and S Auto low latency mode isn’t supported as a monitor is optimized for gaming so it’s already in the lowest latency mode looking in the display settings everything is selected except Dolby vision and Dolby vision for gaming and gaming on either my PS5 or my
Xbox series X will be stretched as the ultra wide format isn’t supported on consoles however you can adjust the monitor to show the original format but with that you’ll see two black bars on either side now onto Sim racing and I’ve attached the monitor onto my sim cockpit
From Next Level racing this is the GT Elite and the wheelbase is the fitech dd2 racing with this gives a really good experience with a monitor attached directly on my rig the 800r curvature gives a pretty immersive experience when racing giving excellent coverage with every detail in your field of view
Without needing to turn your head and again the curvature is just right being the same distance at each point from your seating position providing an excellent racing experience with exceptional performance but to make the most of this monitor it’s best suited on a PC gaming setup the monitor also
Supports picture in picture and picture by picture which is great for multitasking as you could also display two different input sources at the same time so with picture by picture you could have your your PC shown on one side and have your console shown on the
Other side with each one giving a 1720 by 1440 resolution with a 120 HZ refresh rate on each side but to note in this mode HDR isn’t supported you could have your PlayStation on one side and an Xbox on the other giving a two-player gaming setup but it does look a little
Stretched like this now with picture in picture on your main display you can get the full resolution of 3440 by 1440 with a 240 refresh rate and HDR support with the subsource supporting 1080p at 60 HZ but with no HDR support and you’re able to choose between two different sizes
Together with allowing you to change the position of the subsource on the screen audio wise if you use the headphone jack you can only have one source playing at a time but you are able to pick which one the monitor is also great for productivity with the display port 1.4
Port you’re able to get a refresh rate of 240 HZ HDR GC syn and 12-bit color support providing excellent color and contrast levels giving a good working area perfect for displaying multiple windows which helps with multitasking allowing me to have multiple windows open on a single screen even working in
Adobe premere Pro is good as I can see a large part of the timeline when video editing but pixel density is not the greatest as it has a PPI of 96 so you’ll notice some frigging around text which isn’t ideal but as this is essentially a stretched 1440 P monitor it’s no
Surprise as if they went for a 4K stretch monitor so a 2160p a lot of graphics cards May struggle to perform at that level when gaming but working at a normal distance away from the screen is not too bad it would have been nice if it had a type-c port together with a
Built-in KVM which would have allowed me to easily flip between my PC and mac and it doesn’t have speakers which perally I think should come as standard on all newer monitors taking a look at the settings and menus you’ve got a button at the back which you can access from
Underneath the monitor allowing you to access the OSD this allows you to optimize your display settings like the brightness and contrast together with the various other settings like seeing an FPS counter or Crosshair then there’s the game overlay that shows you what the game you’re playing is currently running
At and you can adjust the game mode from here too it has a very familiar interface which is available on most of the newer LG monitors the lights on the back look cool and you have the ability to change them to a variety of different colors plus you can have it cycling
Through different colors or even turn them off but due to the design of the monitor it’s only noticeable if you look around the back whereas coming around the front you wouldn’t notice they were on so if you wanted some ambient lighting you’d be better off adding an
LED strip at the back moving onto screen burning or image retention which is one of the biggest concerns with oleds and this is where an image is permanently displayed onto the screen for example if you constantly had the same static image displayed on the screen or if there were
A logo in the corner that logo could potentially burn in and remain even when you switch channels or change to a different source to protect against this the monitor does have some OLED care options first of all you have screen move which moves the screen slightly at regular intervals in four directions to
Prevent image sticking you can set four different modes for this together with turning it off then there’s screen saver which automa turns off the screen when it’s idle for a certain period of time and finally we have image cleaning which correct screen problems that may occur
When the monitor is turned on for a long period of time as a minimum LG recommends that the screen move and the screen saver is turned on to prevent any image retention so in summary LG Ultra gear have done pretty well with their new 2024 39in OLED gaming monitor
Positives wise LG have used their MLA plus technology to enhance brightness levels making the picture quality even more vibrant and with the anti-glare low reflection panel it’s perfect in allowing you to use the monitor in a bright room with minimal glare which helps to reduce eye strain it has two
HDMI 2.1 ports and a display port 1.4 with a lightning fast 0.03 millisecond response time together with a 240 HZ refresh rate it’s aimed at PC Gamers to give them the edge whether you’re gaming at a desk or Sim racing where you get an excellent field of view with the screen
Having an 800r curvature giving you the perfect consistent viewing angle when seated and I’m loving the design of the new monitor stand which takes up minimal space on your desk without any compromise on its stability negatives wise the anti- glare low reflection technology can reduce the color representation slightly on the screen
But pixel density is not the greatest as it has a PPI of 96 so you’ll notice some frigging around text and it would have been great if it came with speakers and had a type-c port with a KVM but this is aimed more at the gaming Market hence
Why I can see they’ve not gone for this so I wouldn’t say these items would make this a deal breaker in any way as seriously it’s an awesome monitor at the time of making this video I didn’t have details on the price of the monitor but check out the link in the description
For more details on that so there you have it you’ve come to the end of another video and I hope it’s helped anyone thinking of purchasing this details are in the description below including purchasing links and if you have any questions let me know in the

Check out the video description to enter the Giveaway
OLED39 My Monitor 5year old and secondary above 10 years, looking forward for affordable oleds for a decent upgrade 🎉
LG still doesn’t have a monitor that’s glossy? 😔
And do you know if consoles will ever support 21:9 like PC gaming does?
is the matte display grainy ? is it somewhat glossy or not at all?
Which to choose? – LG 39GS95QE or ASUS PG39WCDM? They are the same panels I think no?
OLED 39
Alienware 32inch 4k oled > above all those shit overpriced monitors!
I actually liked the 45 Inch how it looked from the back and on the front, kinda looks more immersive. And tbh the stand looks cheap compare to the 45.. what do you think should I go for the 45 or this one? Would love to see the comparison between these 2! Great video ❤
Oled 39
I need this exact size but in native 4k. So I upgrade from my OG 38in curved

I trust the LG brand so this new monitor is impressive to me. I would love to have this monitor so i'm looking into where i can get it. Your review is super thorough and great as always my friend.
OLED39/ like 425
damn i really want this monitor
Great review. I think 39" is the sweet spot for me. Yours is only review on the 39" so far. I just preordered one from Best Buy. 😁
LG really cheaped out by not including a remote, even the new 27gs95qe has one AFAIK. I hate these knobs beneath the bezel
I'm 27 and it's a dream😍 Lg forever 😎
