Back in the UK and I’m not long for this world.

A short video, to explain why we are behind with the return trip video from Quesada to St Malo.
We are Mick and Cath, currently working as campsite wardens in Ripon North Yorkshire, UK, but with retirement fast approaching we are planning a permanent move to our home in Spain.
Our plan is to retire with a single UK state penion to our apartment in Pueblo Bravo, Ciudad Quesada, Rojales, Spain which we bought with the proceeds of the sale of our UK home.

In the meantime we plan to use our 2009 Belgian built Maesss motorhome to travel in the UK on our time off and then take a big trip to France when we finally finish work.

The Youtube channel was set up to help us keep and share the memories with anyone who is interested, so, if you are interested in this kind of content and may be planning a similar retirement and need to know our costs, we will be sharing our expenses and experiences as we continue our journey.

Our journey really began when we moved to Canada in 2008 for Mick to become a long haul truck driver, where we lived in our truck and spent an adventurous time delivering oversized loads all over Canada and the USA.
We also ran a Blog during that time but didn’t have a Vlog due to lack of decent gear for recording in a big rig, although we do have lots of clips on Micks other Youtube channel… youtube.com/@mickflynnimages and lots of pictures on mickflynnimages.com.

We then returned to England for a while and spent four summer seasons working in the Loire Valley on a beautiful campsite, before moving back to the UK and staying for six years working on a campsite near Henlow, Bedfordshire.
In 2021 we moved up to Yorkshire to be nearer our house which had been locked up for a few years except for short weekend visits, although, as we were provided with comfortable accomodation at our current site we decided to sell up, and so began our Spanish dream with the sale of our modest house in Bradford, which allowed us to buy the small apartment in Spain.
Our next big job (which we will be documenting) is to teach Cath how to ride a bike as she has never had one, but we feel that a couple of small folding electric bikes will allow us to get out and about more to explore wherever we are.

Rien which is just down the road from us had a nice little meal with you well we had a few drinks with with the with the a lot a lot of the owner a few of the owners are back already so we had a good

There and then we toddled off for um a meal and the bought was a meal at ptoo so thanks so John and Greg but since then I went down hill so I’ve not I’ve not done the editing but we did drive all the way up avoiding TOS uh it was just a lovely

Of the costs for the whole of our winter trip um that’s that’s going to be coming up but it’s quite a sort of biggest job because it’s hard to explain because how we’ve done it and now somebody might be interested in seeing the figures out how they want to

Do it would they come down as 90 days would they come down as full-timers what would it cost I mean our Our intention is to see how much it would cost so that we find out whether we can live on one single UK pension yeah I reckon we can

Do it but we just wouldn’t have a right exciting lifestyle but if I stayed in England and I’d one UK pension I wouldn’t even leave the house most of the time because it’d be too too cold and great miserable I’m all about winter and um we couldn’t afford because of the

Electric and gas bills Etc pole tax we couldn’t afford to leave the house no so that’s what it’s looking like at the moment the the overall general costs are a lot lower in Spain for our situation yeah we we are you know we spent a lot this

Winter but that’s a holiday when we go there fulltime we can we do know how to be careful and how to budget yeah we do but that’s coming up in in um I don’t know a couple of weeks time then there’s a couple more might be an odd an odd one

Worked in France we only saw a small part of France which which was the LA Valley where we worked stunning it was beautiful and then we’ve as we’ve drove up through France even in Winter even in winter it’s lovely so our plan is to when we retire is to take the motor home

And tour around France and do some videos in France but also video uh dat um our daytoday living in Spain to see how we do get on with the pension when we’re living there properly yeah to see if I have to start going around looking in the the U bins for

Stuff to sell what not for food for stuff to s b skip I could be a proper skiper at me if I if I if I had a a big property or a garage you know big a big industrial unit I’d just spend my life going going through skips and stuff no I

Can get I could get a job skip no no just got a job in a bar or something wait waiting on yeah debating about whether Kath could go singing over there or not oh singing you have you have to get a ton of more and it’s that’s a bit complicated is it
