“In short, BWGA is a home-grown gravel grinder that straddles the border of Alabama and Georgia, where the gravel is vastly different between the two, and the only war is the mental struggle going on in your head to keep your legs going forward and the physical battle of your bike withstanding the punishment of the roads you’re riding. ” – https://borderwarsgravel.com
“Note on the Border Wars name: We are fully aware of the horrible atrocities continuing in Ukraine and the escalating crisis between Israel – Palestine and the Middle East in general, just as we are aware of the threats to Taiwan, South Korea, or even the issues at our own southern border. We are also mindful, on a local level, of the problems going on for water rights within Georgia and Alabama, for example.”
“BWGA is meant to be a fun day out on the bike and is 80% about the differences in the gravel between the two states, and 20% a friendly rivalry amongst friends and competitors. We love Alabama just as much as Georgia and all the states, really. We are 100% against any conflict, particularly those killing and injuring the innocent, and our hearts go out to anyone who does not have the same opportunities.”

Good day train sitters welcome to the small Georgia town of Franklin it’s not too far away from Atlanta I’m here in town for an event known as border walls Border Wars traverses between the borders of Georgia and Alabama I’m riding 100 mile distance but I reserve the right to cut
It short today we’ll see how it goes there’s several distances on offer 100 62 and I believe a 30 something like that there’s a pretty good crowd of riders assembled it’s a bit nippy as you can tell here at the start let’s get cracking here we are
Start so we’re supposed to be riding new Neal for about 3 miles I think understand there’s one really short section of mud and then the rest is dry as a bone fingers crossed 3 2 one 100 mile ride W rid mountain bikes all right nice one onto the first gravel sector of many
Here’s the mud everyone’s freaking out about it’s time to Dismount my shoes were clean now probably not it’s very soft underfoot look these Slackers walking their bikes as I walk my bike you’re carrying your bike it’s I’m a genius mate this is not my first rodeo
Rodeo yeah it’s a bit sludgy up here train sets and these photographer guys think they’re real funny with their cameras you can ride this man all right we’re rolling again now walking F’s mate thankfully this is all neutral living proof you don’t need a gravel bike see cross bike now worries
That’s right the tourism ride has [Applause] begun if you desire to see the race coverage that’s further up the road but with that said these roads are absolutely stunning and they very close to the Joy gundo Metropolis of Atlanta Georgia and big thanks to Wayne Whitesides of Border Wars gravel for

Today I’m getting over a knee injury at a crash a couple weeks ago so don’t want to kill myself today I must give kudos to Mr Wayne Whitesides he’s the promoter and I believe the course designer this is a fantastic and very challenging course and beautiful all at the same time

I saw you at the event. I wanted to say hi and thank you for what you do, but don’t get the chance. So, thank you for what you do.
Thanks for coming Jayson. Next year we'll have that initial mud fixed, but that's what happens when 5" of rain in a day will do. See ya' next time.
Hi Jayson, what size cassette did you use for the ride?
You should pop over to Birmingham Alabama for the bakes dozen race in march. It’s not a gravel race but it is very fun.
Looks like a fun event. Surprising that there are unpaved roads so close to Atlanta
hey my brother from another mother .That is very awesome gravel trip. Love it!
Great to see you in the States.
Nice chatting with you! Glad you enjoyed the ride!
That T-Lab is a workhorse! 😅
Hi Jason, what tires and sizes of tires did you use in that event? Thanks!
Glad ro see you on the T-lab; I bought one years ago based on your reviews and love it.Also, after an injury i followed Lady Gravel Cyclist"s review and got a Domanse+. Thanks for all you do..
Great video. Not too far from where I live. Planning on going up and doing the ride.
Maybe some day I'll actually be in town and in good enough shape in early February to ride this event. Several friends do it every year.
