The ascent to the 2746 metre high Col d’Agnel is almost 21 km long. The ascent begins in Ville Vieile and initially leads along the D5 road for around 5.5 kilometres to the village of Molines-en Queyras. Here the road turns left as a priority road, passes through the village and then continues as road D205 to the top of the pass. Up to the village of Molines-en Queyras, the road is two-lane, very well developed and easy to drive on. Then the road becomes a little narrower and a little confusing in some places. However, it is still a two-lane road and easy to drive on with due care, even with oncoming traffic. Expect a higher volume of traffic, especially at weekends. The route is very popular with cyclists and motorcyclists. On the south side, the road leads over the Colle dell’Agnello into the Italian province of Cuneo

The road lies in the department of Hautes-Alpes and there in the province of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
