Hello, welcome back!
Feeling slightly better I headed to Iceland to race The Rift, a 200km race around an active volcano. It is one of the toughest races I have ever done. About 72km in I got a massive slice in the sidewall of my tyre, I had to come up with a way to fix it and finish the remainder the race.
Massive thanks to Marin Bikes for making this trip possible!

Shame about you being ill. But that looked like so much fun and kit looked great.
Nicely done Dave, hope you get back to full fitness soon 🚴♂️……….
I went to Iceland for work and all I wanted to do was great a ride in but never could. My goodness this looks incredible.
Fair play Dave, you rode across the Moon/Mars when still ill and with a proper 'get home' bodge which held up proper. Good stuff, nice tunes too.
A big thanks to you r friend James for helping and encouraging you..now both you and Juliet have conquered races in Iceland ..wowzers
Top vlog again buddy, you can keep that filthy gravel stuff though looks like your riding through a war zone. Hope to see you back on the nice clean fixie soon 😘
Iceland looke like the moon ! Hope you and Jules are both feeling better.
Bloody fair play Dave bodge it and plod on 😂 😂 😂 😂 your nuts 😂 can’t believe that tyre held up astonishing 😂 big thumbs up 👍 ya mate too
Iceland 🇮🇸 looked so not what I expected
Top blog matey 😎 😎
When hard people beat hard challenges it's a beautiful thing. With the side bonus of the beer afterward tasting so much better.
Very nice Dave. All your coughing made me start to cough. 👍
It looks incredible but man, I just have no interest in being stuck by a creek with a gashed sidewall freezing. That inner tube solution was brilliant.
Fantastic effort, it looked very hard, those surfaces will sap you. 👍🚴♂️
Great video Dave! I met you out on the course a few times – there is no way I could have finished with that cough. And then that tire! Amazing perseverance!
Good choice for the music, especially the first half as it added to the foreboding atmosphere and your impending Tyre slash. Glad you made it – that's a long distance off road even if you're feeling great, let alone ill!!
Wow, that looks epic! Totally jealous. Great video and well put together. Hope this hasn't made your illness any worse.
Looks a cool event. That's an interesting way to fix a tyre but if it works it works. Well done dude!
Beautiful video, Dave. Next, Dirty Kanza!
Great meeting you out there on the preride, hope you are finally feeling better. Nice video and rear tire tire fix. Hope to see you out in 2020.
Sick man! Seriously sick man 😂
what music that minute 3. thanks?
Great video, came here via the GCN video of the same event, think your's probably reflects the actual difficulty of the event. Looks incredible though.
Would you do this again with your xc/gravel bike?
